We went for a family lunch for 4. We ordered 2 fishcakes, but got served fish sandwiches which we returned. The young waiter acknowledged that he did think he put through the wrong order. Once they served the fishcakes, they were delicious and well presented. The 2 signature burgers were dry and they did not have burger sauce. The chai latte was terrible. The powder wasn't mixed properly and was all settled at the bottom. We did have a discount as a result.

Feels like a gastro pub that has lost its way. Positives: The food was very tasty. Negatives: poor service, pop music playing, a bit cold in the restaurant. Not sure we will be back in a hurry!

Last minute lunch . Everything lovely. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.

Great place for a quiet meal with a colleague. Convenient for Oxford.

Having eaten here several times in the past was very disappointed with this evening's visit. Very slow service, half the menu not available and the food that was, was cold. The guy serving our food told to me to be careful with the 'burning hot plat' with my skewers...well it was cold and the lamb was like warm. Having has to return our starters due to the temperature couldn't be bothered to do the same. No apology from staff or any form of compensation for a poor evening. I won't be returning.

They excel not only in mold remediation but also demonstrate extensive knowledge in general property maintenance. Their guidance has proven to be crucial in the upkeep of my properties.

Room was very cold. Took 50mins from arrival to getting starter then another 50mins for main meals to arrive. Pub was not that busy either. Food was very good and we will be back to this pub as it is a very good pub still to have a meal at.

Visited today for Sunday roast, however were quite disappointed. One of us ordered the pork belly which was pretty much pure fat with very little meat. This got sent back in exchange for another meat. Portions were quite small and quality mediocre. The 2 slices of beef were the best bit. Yorkshire was frozen/reheated. Veg and potatoes undercooked. Certainly not worth the £22 per meal. Service wasn't great either with a drink being forgotten. Also lots of items on menu not available. We have over the years come here regularly for lunch, which has always been lovely. The burgers etc are streets ahead! but won’t be returning for a Sunday roast which frankly was a real disappointment.

An awful experience! Came here last Sunday with my husband to celebrate his birthday, and our 2 years old son. Unfortunately my baby vomited and I have to say that apart from one staff member who saw what happened from the bar counter and left there a blue roll for us to clean the mess, no one else from the staff came to assist us or just ask if we needed help, which OBVIOUSLY we needed! I worked my self for so many years in restaurants and catering and I know, in situations like this, the worst the staff can do is ignore their customers - which I never let happened! - and this is how we’ve been treated. Honestly. If we exclude the bartender who provided us with the blue roll, the total luck of assistance and therefore professionalism and consideration was very disappointing. I just hope what happened to us can help to avoid the same awful experience happening to someone else!

PLEASE READ…absolutely shocking. A very limited menu to start with became almost nonexistent when advised they were not offering any steaks from the grill, chicken or fish. With a small party of 3 people we ended up ordering 2 Bork belly ( and to be fair and transparent these were apparently pretty tasty) and 1 “prime steak” burger. The burger was more like an Aldi frozen processed burger with nothing remotely prime about it. This is just an honest review on our booking but I would like to add that this wasn’t the first time my guess had not been able to eat what they wanted on the pre 3 visits they had had. For a Friday or Saturday late night dinner I would appreciate maybe a dish may be unavailable but for a 7pm booking on a Monday displays a complete lack of any business integrity. Do yourself a favour and give the Turnpike a miss. Even the waiter looked like it was the last place he wanted to be along with myself after the first 5 mins of sitting down. Such a shame.

Sunday lunch was very nice. The trio of meats were tender and tasty. The pork belly was the best of the three. The only downside we’re the sides, macaroni cheese and dauphinoise potatoes - these were such small portions and we don’t believe the calories content matched the size.

We've eaten here many times over the years, it never disappoints, and this visit on Christmas Eve was no different. It was cosy, fully decked out for Christmas, and very welcoming. We made a reservation, as we thought it would be packed, but it wasn't that busy. We ordered the lamb and pork belly from a very friendly waitress. And thoroughly enjoyed every last bite. It was really enjoyable!

Called in here as we were staying over in Oxford due to hospital treatment. Warm welcoming pub with lovely roaring open fires. Pleasantly surprised by the menu which has nice selection of starters and also skewers which we had (lamb). Food was obviously freshly prepared as we waited about 30 mins but this was fine as it’s such a pleasant seating area. Staff friendly. Reasonably priced. Would recommend.
