The service left much to be desired. Despite the delicious food, the slow service marred our overall experience. It took an unusually long time for our orders to be taken and for the food to arrive. Furthermore, when my friend politely requested the service charge to be removed from the bill, the server responded with noticeable passive aggression, which was disappointing and unprofessional. While Quod excels in food and atmosphere, significant improvements are needed in service efficiency and staff attitude to make it a top dining destination.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available.

The food was really excellent. I had wonderful Lemon Sole and the rest of the table had great dishes too including ‘the best burger I’ve had in ages’ coming from someone who eats a lot of burgers. The service was a fraction slower and less attentive than perfection although very friendly. The surroundings are very classy and have a luxurious feel.

Sadly I think we just caught this place on a bad night. The reviews are generally good and our friend is staying at the hotel and says the breakfasts are great and the service impeccable. The ambience in the restaurant was lovely and the place is immaculately appointed, but unfortunately we had a waitress who seemed brisk and brusque, plus the food just wasn’t good! It started well with the lovely manager taking time to accommodate our gluten free dietary requirements, but the food was really below par, especially considering it’s not inexpensive. The crab starter was saturated with mayonnaise and had an extra dollop of mayonnaise for added measure but with no bread to go with it. My main course of duck was overdone and the rainbow chard tasted like it hadn’t been washed it was so earthy, plus the sauce was flavourless. The turnips were replaced with roast new potatoes, without consideration that a portion of potatoes had been ordered as a side. For the others in our party of three, the fish was slightly overcooked (but still tasty apparently) and the aubergine dish still had the tops of the aubergines attached. It really just felt that perhaps the kitchen was short-staffed and inexperienced and the waitress was overwhelmed and also lacked the customer service skills needed. The restaurant was busy so one imagines it normally has a good reputation, hence us thinking that we just caught it on a bad night. We didn’t complain at the time, because sometimes it’s obvious in a restaurant when they’re not coping well and it really felt that we’d end up having to wait for food to be cooked again with little chance of it being any better.

Lovely building and initial entrance. Food dull and small portions. No imagination and dreary tastes. Server gave impression he was working at a supermarket with no real interest. Lots of tourists. Expensive for quality of foods. Cocktails looked nice

Booked a table for a birthday dinner. Delicious food, with a calming ambience. The Staff were exceptional, particularly Manuela who provided excellent service through her friendly and polite demeanor! Would happily visit again.

Popped in on a busy Sunday afternoon, we hadn't booked, and waited only a short time at the bar, before we were allocated a table. Service was good, we ordered a Burger, chips. Sunday roast, both were cooked to perfection, and very filling and enjoyable. The experience was very nice, although as they were busy it was very loud. Good quality food, at reasonable prices.

Having been to Quod before and enjoyed it, this time was very disappointing. We went for a special anniversary meal, so were hoping for a special dining experience. From the start it was disappointing. We weren't warmly welcomed, instead we were welcomed with hardly any eye contact and a stony expression, then just led to our table with hardly a word said to us. All the staff seemed quite miserable really, it was a shame really. The real let down was the food. Bland and poor quality, especially for the price. For starters we had the salmon cevice, which was drowned in oil, and the battered mushrooms that seemed to contain hardly any mushroom. For main, I had the wild garlic risotto special and my fiancé the fishcakes. The risotto was bland, overcooked and had some little woody stalks in it. I could barely finish half of it. The fishcakes were fine but nothing special and the spinach served was very bland. The cocktails were good and our waitress was nice. They did a nice touch of a scoop of ice cream with a 'happy anniversary' message. Plus they did take 10% off when we fed back about the food. Both of those were appreciated. For a meal of over £100 for two, I'd expect far better. The tableware was also a bit disappointing, we had a chipped glass and scratched plates, plus the placemats were paper, which again, for a meal of over £100, should be better than that. It's such a shame because we've had great meals there before. But this time was so disappointing.

This is my favorite restaurant in Oxford!I happened to have an afternoon tea set here, and it was so delicious that I came here several times with my friends, and again by myself, and ate the scones. The scones are really delicious and the price is reasonable!! The atmosphere is great and the location is right in front of the city center, so I love it.Other places were pretty but the taste wasn't that great, but hereIt's the best afternoon tea I've had in the UK! If you're visiting Oxford, be sure to try the afternoon tea set here!

The usual chef must have been away as the food was not what one would expect from a four star restaurant.

Our kids treated us for our 50th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing. At the end the chef made a special sweet treat as a surprise for us.
