Yeti Fine Nepalese Dining, Oxford
237 Cowley Rd, OxfordReally tasty food. Quick service. Attentive staff. Amenable to your needs. I worked in the service across multiple types of restaurants and at the end of the day a restaurant situated on a high street has a lot of competition. This place is low key but great quality. Food bill was fair. Would definitely come back.

La Cucina
40 St Clement's St, OxfordExcellent Italian restaurant close to Oxford city centre, with a relaxed vibe, tasty food and mid-range prices. Parking available. We enjoyed a bresaola & rocket starter, pizzas and drinks, all of which were top quality. Bill for two came to £50, which is a decent deal for Oxford. Pizzas were quite thick and would have preferred a thin-crust option.

O'Neill'S Oxford
37 George St, OxfordBest value for money we had during our trip. The burgers were really tasty with recipes we can't have in our countries. Overall it was full of locals during a game so it was nice. Could have been a bit better to be acknowledged by the staff as we were tourists and we struggled to understand what we were supposed to do, trying to get attention. Written on the table we have to order with the phone but no every dish is on it. Fortunately I'm not shy and my English is good enough so I asked. Otherwise we might still be there waiting. Anyway that's a five, we'd come back.Wheelchair accessibility: It's not accessible with a wheelchair. Big steps at the entrance

Lula's Ethiopian and Eritrean Cuisine
21 Park End St, OxfordHad an amazing meal here on a Saturday night. Pre-booked (I recommend booking via their website as it was full and they were turning people away). It feels like such a hidden gem, so glad we discovered it and will definitely be back. The menu is really easy to navigate and honestly, every dish was full of flavour. Spicy tea was a great compliment to the food. Highly recommend!Vegetarian options: Leans heavily on vegetarian and in fact my wife is veggie and that was why we went there. The vegetarian dishes were the best thing about it to be honest. Yellow lentils with garlic was a favourite.

Quod Restaurant & Bar
92-94 High St, OxfordVery busy, in the best way, which is to say full of animated diners sharing the occasion and enjoying themselves. All three times we’ve been there in the past year, the welcome has been enthusiastic, the service friendly and efficient, and the food delicious without being pretentious. A cut above the best brasserie without attempting to pose as an exclusive foodie hideaway. It’s too big and visible for that. It glories in being bright, airy, noisy and fun.My plaice-on-the-bone was perfectly done (it’s so easy to overcook that) with just the right amount of buttery saltiness. My wife’s polenta starter and my father in law’s beef rib were well reported on.It isn’t cheap (where is?) but it is good value.

The Perch
Binsey Ln, Binsey, OxfordBeautiful, snug cottage with a partially thatched roof in the middle of nowhere for those of us on foot, but well worth the effort. Large outdoor patio with seemingly dozens of picnic tables on the grounds, perfect for dogs and people alike. Inside, a fire burned on this Monday, with a sofa surrounding it, and several tables, some as banquettes, with a full view of the room. What a menu! The menu boasts a whole lot of vegan and vegetarian options, for those who need that, but for me the steak and mushroom pie greatly satisfied my needs in the typically turbulent weather. My partner's butternut squash soup was a delight as well, and we split the fish plate - the treacled trout was the perfect texture, and the mackerel pate was packed with flavor!Several casks in good shape at the bar, and mulled cider, and a very friendly bartender-server-host who also took us through the menu. On cask were a Hook Norton, Loose Cannon, and a local porter from Oxford Brewery. Naturally all were in fine shape, as was the keg cider.Note: it is a good mile and a half up a mildly-traveled road (bring your umbrella in autumn!) if you're walking - there's also a (sometimes) photogenic unpaved way along the river back to town, if you've brought proper footwear. And the ceilings are about as high as you might expect from an old cottage, so be aware, tall people!

19-20 St Clement's St, OxfordWent to this restaurant yesterday and was amazed start to finish. Not only does this place serve some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted but it has a great atmosphere, a kind staff, a huge range of options and a charming homeliness about how the restaurant is run and decorated. It is also worth mentioning that 4 of us ate a huge range of food and drink. Enjoyed everything and left full for just under £25 a head which is unheard of in the current climate, especially in Oxford.I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant the next time I am in Oxford, very excited to bring more friends here.

Turf Tavern
4 Bath Pl, OxfordEnough can't be said about how this pub organically fits the space. Character oozes from every corner. Dark inside with low ceilings it's history is undeniable. It's busy but bigger than you think if you explore all the corners. Unfortunately, expect tour groups to be led right through but think of it as fresh meat for people watching. They have a broad selection of beers on tap. There is the usual selection of what I call "training" beers, the usual low alcohol, English tax avoiding stuff. But the selection is decently broad. Even in an off peak time the line at the bar can be long so don't wait to be empty before getting in line for another. The fish and chips were really delicious. Unfortunately, chasing down a server to get some vinegar was difficult enough at 3pm. I hate to think of it during a busy time.Still, a wonderful place to visit and a must see if you want to experience a truly old school pub with all it's charm and warmth.

George Street Social
34 New Inn Hall St, OxfordI've been here several times. Their chorizo shakshuka is a very good portion and quite tasty. Unfortunately they don't do any sausages anywhere on their menu (just bacon, hash browns etc, also noticed no baked beans either - they don't do full English). I had a craving for this yesterday for some reason.Had some slight issues with the drink whereby the Lillet spritz was on the cocktail menu as the rosé version but when it arrived they'd used the dark red version instead, but they changed this eventually to an Aperol spritz as I didn't like the taste of the Lillet and this was done without too much fuss, which was appreciated. The upstairs seating is quite cosy and was very hot as the windows can't open.Despite the small points above, in general this is a solid place for brunch in Oxford and is on my list of to go places.

Karma Restaurant
152 Oxford Rd, Temple Cowley, OxfordMonday night - it's an odd night to choose for dinner out, but sometimes it's necessary and I'm so glad that places are open. We had the place to ourselves, which was pretty nice. It's a welcoming atmosphere with jazzy Indian-tinged beats providing a background buzz and staff with just the right level of attendance. Decent Cobra lager on draught for cheaper than the pub down the road - check... got a feeling I'm going to like this place. Poppadums arrived with large pots of sauce of differing colours and one of oniony bits. Personally I like a chunky lime pickle, but there were no complaints from anyone at the table as we powered through the crispy stack as if we'd not eaten in days. Just as we were finishing up, some starter samosas arrived. Four between three of us (ie. two portions) - almost came to blows for the last one. Pastry was fine, nothing really to write home about, but the filling was really where the magic happened - spicy, umami, with a slight crunch. Pretty much perfect. Next the mains arrived - a mixture of classic indian dishes. Mostly with cheese for a largely-veggie party. All were perfect in their own way - classic dishes perhaps, but each had its own twist, its own pleasant surprise. Dhal to die for and really I'm finding it hard to pick out another star turn as everything was so great. The korai dish was way saucier than expected, but what a sauce. Mattar paneer had a lovely balance of creaminess and flavours to cut through the cream. I could go on... We'd gone out locally for a bog-standard Indian meal but clearly we hit the jackpot. We'll be back for sure - evern moreso because it's just a 10min walk from home.

George & Danver
94 St Aldate's, OxfordHaving a scoop at G&D's is on to-do lists of things at Oxford and when we chanced upon this place near Christ Church, our only aim was to go in. Nestled at the corner, G&D's has a subtle ambience with a menu signage behind the counter indicating all that can be sought out here.We looks into the homemade ice cream options and settled for a scoop of Peach and Super #?*! Chocolate each.Peach was a refreshing taste that's light and fruity and the Chocolate was decadent and both the flavours makes you to have a bite after another just hoping that the cup doesn't empty soon.Situated close to Christ Church, this is the place to be when you have got a sweet tooth or want to try something savoury as well (they serve bagels too). Despite a rainy weather, we devoured the ice cream but as winter approaches a cuppa or hot chocolate from the cafe could be your warming embrace.

On ordering our food, we were met by a friendly, helpful chap whom I informed this was our first time eating at this particular cafe. He explained how the process worked at which stage I went ahead and ordered. Our food came to us. I can quite honestly say, it tasted absolutely amazing. My husband and I both said the chips we had were probably the best we’d ever eaten and as for our burgers, they were also very good. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant as although as previously mentioned, the actual cafe doesn’t shall we say ‘sell itself well’, the food is a different matter which of course is what matters, it’s just fabulous. Thanks guys for a lovely lunch at Fernando’s cafe, we will definitely come back to you.

Missing Bean Botley
2 Church Way, Botley, OxfordIt’s a great coffee shop, I go there almost every day to grab some coffee and a bite. The coffee is very good, there is a selection of cakes and pastries and a few sandwich options, more recently even bagels. The baristas are always very friendly and make everyone feel welcomed. Shout out to Kyle, Ollie and Carmen, they’re awesome.

Cranham Terrace, OxfordVisited here twice during visits to Oxford, in the last year. Good beer and live music on each occasion. First time was an indy band indoors and most recently an excellent modern jazz trio, in the beer garden. Jericho has numerous fine pubs and this is my favourite. The White Hart
126 Godstow Rd, Wolvercote, OxfordCame for the Sunday market at the back garden of this community pub. There are some really good local produce and products. Two bakery stands that sell fresh and yummy bread and pastries. One African stand that sells warm food, like curries and stews. There’s a fresh vegetable stand, a jam stand and some olive oil stand.Price reasonable, like one pastry costs £2-3.Recommend to pop in if you’re local or around in wolvercote on the Sunday morning. The market runs 10am to 12 noon every Sunday.

The Chester Arms
19 Chester St, OxfordReturning to UK we were looking forward to an English, Sunday, roast beef dinner at last. So the first point to note is that they don't do roast beef on the last Sunday in the month, they do lamb instead. However that being said, it was still delicious. We had quite a long wait for the food but it was worth the wait. Regarded by some as the best roast in Oxford. ?

97 St Clement's St, OxfordAbsolutely incredible food, as well as warm friendly service. It has the intimacy and kindness of a mom-and-pop place, but is classy and high-end in its decor. Lovely atmosphere that makes it perfect both for a casual night out and for more official dinners. The portions are very generous, and the price is really a bit lower than I'd expect for the high quality and portions of food.I had the halusky with sauerkraut for my starter, confit duck for my main (which comes with gratin potatoes), and Slovak fruit pudding for dessert. I was more than stuffed by the end (I think 2 courses is enough, here), and everything tasted amazing. My water was refilled periodically without me needing to ask, and the dishes came out quickly.
