I had an amazing gluten-free three course meal as a part of my package with Oxford River Cruises. Unfortunately, the cruise was cancelled, but the meal did not disappoint. The carrot soup and sea bass were delicious. These were also the best fries I had during my short England trip. Well seasoned and thick cut. The crème brûlée was pretty solid as well. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere right on the Thames was excellent.

Yesterday, l introduced 3 of my Polish friends to Turtle Bay. They had never sampled this cuisine before. Well, they cleaned their plates and loved every morsel. One friend remarked she had never, ever, finished a restaurant meal in all her life and her family confirmed this. The food, service and ambience was amazing to them - l was so pleased to experience this moment. High praise went to chef Jordant Rollit, who came out of kitchen to say hello as well.

We were on a weekend break for a graduation and visited the Gurkha Palace restaurant which we found through a web search and booked a table.
I come from an area South Shields where a lot of Indians settled because of the shipping heritage. Subsequently there are dozens of Indian restaurants located all over the area mainly on Ocean Road where there are dozens to choose from so Indian food is in our DNA.
We had a drink in the local pub “The Chequers” with whom this restaurant shares a premises with. The staff and the locals were great and very friendly. It is a real local pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We were given a warm welcome and taken to our seats by a member of staff from the Gurkha Palace Restaurant and given a menu. The place had a lovely comfortable feeling and was full of friendly people celebrating birthdays and people just having a good time.
I have eaten Indian meals all over the world and The Gurkha Palace Restaurant ranks as one of the finest I have eaten in. The food is some of the best I have eaten and at a reasonable price. We ordered a variety of dishes, far more than we could eat, and everyone was cooked to perfection by their expert chefs. The staff and management are pleasure to speak to and super-efficient. The whole experience was so nice my wife insists that we make the 700-mile round trip again, just to eat in this establishment.
Thank you to the owner, the chefs and all staff in the Gurkha Palace and bar for making it a great night.

It was a bit early, but they happily served us some delicious locally made ice cream and a slice of lemon cake that kept the kids busy and a much needed coffee for me. We had to get straight back on a train, but despite it being before lunch, they sorted me out with some delicious takeaway food - the split peas were delicious! Great service, beautiful, relaxed interior and delicious food.

I’ve heard about this authentic Neapolitan pizza van off my friend for years and I came across them at my sons school bbq so I had to go try them.
My friend did not disappoint!!
Amazing traditionally made Neapolitan pizza, dough crispy, fresh good quality ingredients combine to make pizza to good to have one! I chose half neoplitian and half diavlo, being a school bbq diavlo was not on the menu but the staff max a custom one just for me …and I would recommend one of each it’s that good finished with a good cheese pull and garnished with arugula .
Customer service was second to none, both colleagues knew my friend and we had a good chat in the short time the pizza cooked. Overall a great experience 8.8/10

Went for an early dinner on a saturday evening. The place was popular but not overly busy. Orders were taken promptly and we didn't have to wait for long. Food was delicious, we ordered the clams on the specials board, the prawns, beans with chorizo. Such a great place to eat in Oxford. Very cozy and chill vibe with friendly staff. We ordered the chatt plates which were a wonderful mix of flavours as a base with potato in chickpea batter in the middle. We asked for very very spicy and the chef made us a sauce from Congo peppers which she explained to us.

The staff explained the food and it was great to have the chef come and check on us.

All vegan and lots of gluten free dishes. We left very happy and very full!

Hot tea can sometimes leach plastics from fancy packaging, so I appreciated the owner taking the time to show me the packaging, which confirmed it’s free of plastics. The locally-made cakes—prepared by the owner's wife and another staff member—are incredible. The banana cake was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the Earl Grey tea was a real treat. Plus, the WiFi is hassle-free.

If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot downstairs, it’s a perfect place to relax before catching a bus to the airport or just after. Much less hassle than Caffè Nero, with better quality food and prices!

Ben and his team were amazing. My daughter booked the table originally then had to keep adding more people. We were 17 in the end. Ben always said it was no trouble. The food was amazing. I had the roast chicken. It was the best I have ever had. It was juicy and tasty along with all the trimmings. Definitely 5* I can also say everyone said their roasts were perfect too. Everything was served with a smile despite all of us being noisy and a little cramped. It’s a small pub.Desserts didn’t disappoint either. Everything tasted freshly made. Lovely vegetarian/vegan pub along the canal, with a limited by very polished list of food options. In particular, we appreciated the possibility to order the weekly specials even though we dined on a Saturday night. For starter, I ordered the Tofu and Aubergine in miso sauce. The tofu had a nice crispy layer, while being very soft inside. I found the aubergine a bit bitter or overcooked, unsure if it was due to the miso. For main, I've had the fried polenta with ratatouille, and it was delicious!! Not too much expensive, I guess in line with the cost of living in Oxford. Definitely reccomended if you are hanging out with somebody having special dietary requirements.

Alternative cafe with different styles of seating - tables and bar stools near the window with great views of nearby buildings. The £10 breakfast menu is good, I found it hard to choose what to have! Only thing I would say is the portions are small and I expected it to taste more home made - the hummus tasted shop bought. The drinks are small for the price but it was a nice treat for breakfast and something different.

As a veggie, Peppers serves up the sort of burger I have been craving since giving up meat all of those years ago. Such a reasonable price for something that was so satisfyingly delicious. None of that toasted brioche bun, 'dirty' (bland topping), 'smash' hype nonsense.
The veggie burger patties seemed homemade and were nothing but satiating. Unlike other meat substitutes, they did not make you feel like you need a detox after consuming. Chips were bloody lovely as well.

The choice of customisation options is a dream. I went for white shark sauce and aoili, with all of the usual suspects (lettuce, gherkin, tomato, onion and more...). A pleasant surprise is that you are not forced to take out a mortgage to add most toppings and sauces, this sadly feels like a throwback in comparison to other restaurants in the area (and beyond).

The inside of the joint has so much character. The decor is complemented by a calming, vibrant atmosphere, which made waiting for the burger a really pleasant experience. The people behind the magic were incredibly attentive, friendly and a pleasure to interact with. Peppers is not the sort of place where your order is placed on a system and lost to the ether, to be processed by faceless drones.

No doubt we will return disturbingly frequently to navigate through all of the combinations of toppings!

I'm French on holiday in England. It was the first time I had eaten at an Indian restaurant. The gentleman who took care of us was really, really nice. He took a lot of time to explain the dishes and what would suit us best. He spoke slowly so we could understand. He even adapted our dishes according to our tolerance to spices. The buttered chicken I ate (on the gentleman's advice) was really melting and the sauce was delicious! The dessert was sweet and sweet. A really perfect experience! Jericho Cafe is our absolute favourite place to go as Jericho locals. We love coming here from anything from a warming morning coffee to one of their delicious breakfast options. They just get everything right: quick, reliable service; delicious food and a cosy and friendly atmosphere.

It's a little cramped inside and you often end up sharing a table with other parties, but if you're not after formal dining we would strongly recommend and will visit again!
(Sushi is also only on Thursday currently which is a shame and something to be knowledgeable of, but don't let that put you off going other days of the week)

Fantastic selection of cocktails, the place reminds me of a very 1930s NYC bar.Also the reason why I'm doing a review now as opposed to last year is the absolutely amazing playlists they have playing at the place. Had a decent meal here. The atmosphere would have been better had we (and another table of two) not been placed right next to a slightly boisterous table to gents at a reunion.
Service was good and the food was excellent, although the inclusion of regular pub crisps with the steak tartare was slightly odd for an otherwise perfect plate. The monkfish main was fabulous, I would recommend it and I would recommend a visit to the Parsonage if you're nearby.

Wow, amazing - out-of-this-world-tasty food, excellent and friendly service and pretty special lattes!

Can’t recommend enough, good thing we don’t live in this part of town, otherwise I’d probably be there every day they have food on.

Favourites today were the aubergine curry and the stir-fried pork, although everything that comes out of this kitchen is truly magical! And so were the coffees - seriously good stuff, don’t think I have had such a great latte in ages.

Thank you to everyone at Elle’s looking after us today! We had a special bday celebration today and everyone at Elle’s today was so very accommodating and kind to our group. One of us was coeliac and it was great that many of the options were gluten-free for them.

Now, when can we go back next?

Jericho Coffee Traders has three locations currently in the studious city, and this is my favourite. It's very cozy and intimate! I appreciate the friendly service, and branded cups (loooove the kitschiness of a branded cup). There are also a few gluten free and vegan treats available (but sadly, as of this writing this post, none that are both).

Was very busy on a Sunday lunchtime, our mistake to arrive early for our table. Initially all seemed a bit chaotic and thought about leaving but once seated we were well looked after. The team here is caring and works very hard. Well kept beer, remember to pull a full pint guys :)
Food tasty and nice presentation, only criticism there wasn’t any crackling with my roast pork.
It’s modern on the inside - worth noting if you prefer ‘cosy’ old school country pubs but that’s a matter of personal taste.
Would go back because it definitely deserves a second chance.

Amazing experience, will be rushing back when next in Oxford!
Not only was the food incredible, but the service was exceptional.

They managed to get us a table very last minute and were incredibly accommodating.
Our server was so friendly and kept spirits high throughout the evening.

The sharer meal is a great option, as it allows you to try an array of beautiful dishes, the true taste of Lebanon. The lamb just melts in your mouth!
