Came back today and things have picked up. Food was good. Cosy restaurant area. Looked after us well.Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free menu and flexible with options.Kid-friendliness: Kids never felt unwelcome and we weren't rushed as it was a quiet day.

Enjoyed the food but there were very limited vegetarian options. Had a vegan burger which was tasty and portion size was good. Other eaters at our table enjoyed their roasts. People who ordered Sunday roasts were offered extra potatoes or Yorkshire puddings, which was a nice touch.Nice ambience, pleasant service.Vegetarian options: Only saw vegan burger as vegetarian option.

Summary: great food, great locations, great venue. Food is upper end of good but would excel with a few minor tweaks. We really like this place. It gets incrementally better. Super cosy, lots of space in both summer and winter. We had two dogs and a baby and we were welcomed with open arms.We had a lovely red wine each and the 5-cheese cheese board. @TheFishes, the cheese you get is the right amount and lovely. The only suggestion I’d give is I felt the dish would be so much better with a few more crackers and someMore chutney. With what we were served, we ended up having nothing for the last two cheeses.…after many visits we realised we had points, which in turn, of course, mean prizes…free food and drink! So we added a dessert (sticky toffee pud). This was nice, came with ice cream. However, I’d suggest more toffee sauce and a touch more ice cream would add to things because things got a little dry towards the end.Hopefully you can this this place is pretty decent. Give it a try and see what you think. I’m pretty picky and think this place is one of my solid regulars

Been many times over the years but last night was definitely the last, very poor service, mediocre overpriced food and little atmosphere and just drumbeat music. Not what we expected or wanted for a meal with friends. Thanks but no thanks.

The Fishes keep being a great restaurant /bar in Oxford.I put 4 stars because my friend's food wasn't great for her, mine was delicious.I had chicken schnitzel with fries and salad, water and a glass of wine. And tiramisu for dessert. The place has different areas: a front cozy outdoor area with heaters, a bar, seating down area, adjacent another area to watch live tv games; the restaurant area where we were; a decking area outdoors and some area for picnucs and outdoor summer seating in the garden.I went on a Friday night and the crowd was a mix, each on their area. There is free parking outside.

Had a lovely roast dinner! One of the best Iv had in a pub before! The service was brilliant, Sophie was our server and she was smiley, attentive and thorough, not just with our table but with everyone in the restaurant! Definitely would return/recommend!

I was a little nervous i was at tbe bear and ragged staff a few weeks ago, that has gone right down the pan but is owned by the same group. The fishes is a great pub superb garden just lovely. The starter the croquettes doesnt taste of much needs a rethink. The main coursè pork chop, it was perfect, Now if you want great pork, go to Germany, Poland or Spain or go to the fishes English chefs just overcook pork and it is hard and horrible, the chef here has it right, lovely soft perfect pork mmmm. Now the staff, they are lovely, inormative and friendy. An excellent night great night awesome food and i am going back right away.

The pie was a proper pie. Not stew with a lid.

Really enjoyed this. We came from Dublin and brought her out here for dinner. Really nice, food very tasty. Great service.

Wonderful dining experience with friendly, welcoming staff who looked after us all night. The staff kindly let me taste their pale ale as I was looking for something similar to Neck Oil and I can see the Purity Pale Ale they have on tap is excellent. The food was superb, particularly the Steak & Ale pie and Sticky Toffee pudding (photos) which they kindly swapped the ice-cream for custard. The food is very well priced as well which I was pleasantly surprised given the lovely location. Overall I had a fantastic time and will definitely come back! :)
