Stayed in Oxford for a couple of days and found this lovely place, it's right on the river Thames. We were there in the evening, and the food , service and surroundings were all excellent. I would love to return in the summer to see what it's like outside then!

The Sunday menu at the Trout is spot on: a choice of roast and a pared back choice of other meals, meaning that the food is well executed and tasty. The only problem is that the restaurant is clearly understaffed. The waiting staff are very polite and accommodating but they are run off their feet. I hope the staffing will be properly addressed.

The best gastro pub experience I’ve had this visit. Melissa took care of us and was faultless. Thankyou so much, we will be back!

We had a very delicious lunch at The Trout today. However our visit was marred by the service. On arrival we waited for a good 10 minutes at the reception with a queue building up behind us. Various staff were around but nobody said anything. When we were finally showed to our table thre was no apology. The service of the food was OK but not as good as it could have been - it was almoat as if they didn't care. Finally at 2.30 having booked the table at 12.30 we were told that we had to get off the table as the next booking had arrived. At no point when booking the table had we been told that is was only for a 2 hour slot and certainly the waiter telling us could have been more courtious. Finally please upgrade your loos!! They are really shabby and smell!! The Trout is in a totally brilliant location - it is not cheap but the food was good and very tasty - with a little more care it could and should be a first class experience.

Fantastic service at our lunch time visit by our server Melissa. Went above and beyond to be helpful and couldn’t fault the food, it was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely meal with friends!! Excellent service from Melissa would definitely recommend an will be returning very soon

Had a lovely lunch with colleagues , food was good. Service was outstanding from Melissa all had a smile on her face nothing was too much. Definitely recommend

Lunch time visit with family. Heard lots a great reviews and by the cars in the car park a watering hole for the rich. Service was lukewarm food was ok but nothing to shout about. You pay for the location and a view of the river.

Firstly I must praise the quality of the food which was very good, the service not so much. We arrived early for our booking so I was asked to get a drink at the Bar whilst waiting for the table. There were two men serving at the Bar they were obviously very busy and under pressure making Cocktail orders whilst I understand they were very busy they just kept me standing there and wouldn't even make eye contact , in the end I asked one of them if I could " order a drink please " my temerity was not well received ! By the time we were seated we were ready for another drink but this did not arrive until our main course. The main course arrived whilst we were still finishing out starter and the young man whipped the starter away without asking if we had finished with it. I asked for Horse radish sauce to go with the superb two roast beef dinner, this did not arrive by the time I was half way through eating it and I had to get out of my seat and go and find a member of staff to ask for it. Overall the food was great and I feel that maybe that day was a bit under staffed but a bit of courtesy at the Bar by a nod and a " I will be with you in a minute " is not too much too much to ask. I would have appreciated being asked if we had finished the sharing Camembert before it was whipped away and the condiment offered had arrived without my having to go looking for it. The pub is in a lovely location, food great I would visit again in the hope that I had gone on a day when they were sort staffed and it was a one off ?

This is an amazing pub, the food was excellent as were the friendly, helpful staff. The location is perfect on a sunny day right by the river for a relaxing lunch or morning coffee.

We had an amazing time but what made it even better was the incredible service from Nell will definitely be returning one of the best waitress experiences I’ve ever had !

This is a really great spot on the river . There is plenty of seating inside and outside and it’s busy but the food is great and the service is excellent . Best too is there is a car park so easy to get a spot . I had the fish and chips must say the best we have had . Such a pretty place

The food was wonderful and service was impeccable, thanks to my lovely waitress Nell who was attentive and helpful. The location is also great, with a beautiful view of the river.

Not visited fora while as some disappointing visits. Visited early for Sunday lunch and the food was good. Atmosphere as always was good in a great location by the river
