Amazing place to stay for a weekend getaway. Phenomenal food and lovely rooms. Very pleased and will be back. Nes was a star!

This restaurant has a reputation locally for being expensive, but this is so far from the truth. The prices are extremely comparable with similar establishments close by.Six of us went for breakfast on Sunday last week. We had a fabulous full English, eggs florentine, toast, unlimited coffee and tea etc.On Sunday we tried the Sunday roast. The beef almost melted in the mouth and the desserts tasted amazing. The service was excellent, couldn’t have been any better, thanks Nes & Hayley. We will definitely be going back to try the midweek theme nights.

We had a lovely dinner here for our annual work do.The food was fantastic and all the staff were so attentive and made great efforts to get all the food out in good time. I had the vegetarian Wellington, which was delicious! My husband and I also stayed the night in the barn accommodation. Very comfortable with lovely facilities. We also had a very nice breakfast. Thank you Nes and team!Rooms: Very nice quality facilities. Very comfortable bed.Food & drinks: Very nice quality ingredients and all good home cooked food.

Lovely old village pub still serving the locals but also an excellent restaurant with a great choice of food from an original and varied menu. Well worth a visit.

We stayed at the Star for one night as a treat after Christmas. The service and food were outstanding , a seasonal menu , fabulous wine list and amazing staff . We had the most amazing stuffing scotch egg , Partridge and slow cooked beef cheeks.Breakfast was enormous, it beat both me and mny husband , we should probably have gone for something lighter, but the full english was so tempting. On the night we were there they wer short staffed but you wouldnt know it, the staff were lovely, welcoming and attentive but special shout out to Nes who looked after us brilliantly over dinner and was there bright and early to make sure we were looked after at breakfast as well. The only disappointment was the room, it needed a little uplift. It was clean, quiet and comfortable but just a little tired.I would stay again in a heartbeat however as everything else including the location was just perfect.

Been a couple of times for drinks and dinner and this time stayed for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. I really like it, it is not a budget place, but really is good value for the food, atmosphere and service. You can tell they really care about the guests, to ensure they have a good stay or meal, staff are attentive, it really is more than a pub with rooms, but not too posh to go for a beer on Sunday roast. Would recommend.

Amazing food made by a great Chef! Very nice service, too! Some of us had the festive menu and others chose à la carte. Both options were great! If I lived closer, I would visit more often!

We visited The Star on 28th Dec and chose the 3 course festive menu. The food was outstanding and served by Ales and her colleagues with a smile and a warm welcome. Having now been a number of times we highly recommend The Star. It never fails to impress.

A cozy restaurant with excellent service. The menu was varied with intriguing options. The lamb, in particular, was outrageous. 10/10
