I've been to the Horseshoes semi-regs for the last three years. I have witnessed first hand the worker uprising that turned into a beautiful story of staff based ownership, and I live for it. The food took a little while to find it's legs under the new ownership but their persistence has paid off, and they've hit the sweet spot of reasonably priced and solid production. The staff are really the highlights, always willing to help and with some of the nattiest dress sense you'll see this side of Paris.Kid-friendliness: The kids love coming along to the Horseshoes. Sunday lunch was their particular highlight!

Just been for dinner with a friend on a Tuesday night, it’s the first time I’ve been since it changed hands and it did not disappoint. It was busy and atmospheric for a Tuesday. We had 3 courses and each meal was delicious. Everything was so reasonably priced and the service was top notch. Well done to the Team, we will definitely be back!

Food excellent, customer service excellent, went above and beyond. Great value. The only thing that we were a bit disappointed with is that we asked for a little extra gravy, which we got in a very small jug. Didn’t expect to be charged extra for this on the bill!! We think it’s a little mean.

First visit with friends since the change of management. Great welcome on a very wet Sunday, but a lovely log burner in the bar area. Although very busy, the service was excellent given with a friendly smile. Three of us had the beef and one the turkey, all cooked to perfection, all in all an excellent experience. Just a small thing and not a complaint, our table was at the front adjacent to the bar area, which was a little noisy, maybe the side dining areas are a little quieter for conversation? Our friends enjoyed the visit and so did we.

I booked for a party of 18 last Sunday. When we arrived they had squeezed us onto tables so small that we only managed because one person was unwell (so didn’t turn up) and after we asked them to bring another chair to put on the end of the table as there was just no way six of us would fit into the space provided. As they serve Sunday lunch on a Sunday we did not pre-order. To save the challenge of sorting the bill I asked if they would take orders for families. We were told no, as food would come out per bill, instead we were advised to order by each table (we had two). I told them this would not work as families were split across two tables. As I wanted us all served together, I said “never mind, just bill as one and I will sort.” As we ordered the waiter told me that one table had not ordered starters. I said okay just please serve mains together. Well of course they ignored my instructions. They served the starter, cleared it way, and after a quite long wait served the table without starters their main. They did not serve the second table their mains until at least ten minutes after the first table had finished their main, despite several prompts from me and a small disagreement with the waiter who insisted he had told me that he would not serve us as one party, despite booking as one! We insisted they bring deserts to us all at the same time. We waited so long for these that the two children on the first table were getting so distressed that we had to ask that they at least bring their deserts. Total disaster. We usually mix family members at each course. One person had driven from Birmingham for a 12:30 meal. In the end he left at 3:30 (as soon as we’d finished) without being to speak to many of us. If you are booking for a larger group I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was actually very nice, although the vegetables served to the second table were barely warm. I think the meals had been standing for several minutes. The waiter apologised and told me the manager would come to speak to me He chose not to.

We arrived with a lovely welcome and very accommodating staff. Food was great, well priced and delicious. We picked this venue for our Christmas dinner because it was the only place in town for an evening meal that didn't make you have a set menu, aan innflated set price or pre order on small groups! A major plus for me! They had a full on busy service but nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. When we needed to move from the restaurant for their second sitting, Tommy found us a great spot in The Corridor seating area where we were able to continue our evening, giving us table service for our drinks. Keep up what you're doing at The Horseshoes, it's working great!
