Pubs in Woodstock

“We booked a table for dinner here, after visiting nearby Blenheim palace. Situated in a beautiful little town with ample parking.A family run venue. The atmosphere & service was brilliant, staff are friendly & attentive. The menu had a good variety of hearty, homemade, pub meals. Food was of great quality & really tasty. We had the steak & kidney suet pudding, which was divine! We then moved from the dining area & sat by the open log fire until closing & entertained ourselves with the Trivial pursuit cards on the tables... A great idea! A cozy, relaxed & enjoyable evening. We intend to return (definite food envy when seeing other meals being served ... It all looked so good!)”

“A lovely community pub right by Blenheim Palace, decor was lovely and the lady behind the bar was very friendly. The food was delicious and everything was really good value for money. The only thing that let it down was the speed of service on food. We were warned of a 30 minute wait but that then became an hour. We will be back and will put our food order in earlier. Please don't let the delay put you off, as the food was brilliant.”

“‘The Killy’ - largely due to Chef Andy Brown’s unswerving belief in Michelin-inspired excellence - is already one of those places beloved by the socials community and revered by both culinary leaders and strivers. With good reason. We had an astoundingly joyous supper – proud and delicious – underpinned by that warm professionalism that custodian, Jim Alexander and his team, have brought to this delectable, sensitively transformed, Cotswold inn. With seriously good, unfussy food, generous service and a firm grasp of how fine hospitality can and should be, our ‘dine and stay’ experience was country conviviality at its very best. A diminutive starter of Venison Tartare (pickled mustard seed, egg yolk) turned out to be monumental in both flavour and wonder. Similarly, Simone’s Raspberry Souffle (stem ginger ice cream, raspberry coulis) was an edible artwork of gorgeousness. Simply, this is not just food, this is Chef Andy Brown’s food – and its ravishing delight is justification for getting in your car and driving (as we did) for 4 hours – just for the edible experience. Our overnight room(Suite 5) was without fault (OK, one of the lights failed to work), which added to the warm reassurance that we were being well-cared for - a respect that was performed at the breakfast table, too. Is there no end to this splendour? Once lost in centuries of remote rural neglect – The Killingworth, renamed, now firmly on the map, is possibly one of the finest and suitably busiest inns we have had the joy to eat in. Not to everyone's taste or pocket perhaps - but if you seek low-key fabulousness, they’ve wholly got it right. Tremendous.”
