Excellent eatery with a modern vibe, friendly staff and extremely tasty food at reasonable prices. We went on a Wednesday evening and they had an offer on: 25% off certain wines. We had some nibbles: Wild mushroom & Parmesan arancini, delicious. Our main dishes were: Korean chicken wings; Thai beef salad, Triple cooked chips, Wild sea trout & prawn fishcakes & Caesar salad. All cooked to perfection, downed with a bottle of red.Fab evening, thank you Back lane tavern.

Stand at the bar to be ignored by bar staff and it’s not even busy.

This is easily the nicest place we've eaten in a long while, with reasonably priced food - given the current state of shrink flatiron! The quality of ingredients shows and the portions are good value. Staff are all super friendly and helpful, great atmosphere (we loved the playlist) and even better... Dogs are welcome! ? We'll definitely be back... With the dogs!Highly recommend the Wild Sea Trout and Prawn Fishcakes, Korean Wings and Beef & Ale Pie. But to be honest, everything we had was sublime!Cannot recommend enough!

It was quiet the evening we went. The tapas style small plates style suited the two of us as we were not very hungry. We liked having different types of food that we do not normally have, and we ordered 4 dishes that was the right quantity for ourselves. We enjoyed glasses of wine to accompany it. The menu took a long time to arrive but the waitress apologised for the delay. We would return.Dietary restrictions: The waitress asked if we had any allergies.

We go here everytime we're back in the UK and it never dissapoints. Excellent small plates sharing food, solid beer selection and a great atmosphere guaranteed.

We hadn’t booked, and turned up on a recommendation from a local. We couldn’t be seated in the main restaurant without a booking, despite turning up v early (12noon), so we’re sat in the cosy bar, which is lovely and v comfy. The bar menu is very limited though - you can’t really have a decent lunch. It’s just tiny snacks. Wings/one Vietnamese summer roll/tiny charcuterie board. Quite expensive for very small amount of food. We went home and had lunch, again. Maybe they could offer some hearty sandwiches too, for the bar menu, so at least walk-ins can fill their bellies. But, it’s our own fault, as we hadn’t booked! I would still recommend it, and will return for another go. One small critique - the barmaid said she’d bring over a high chair for our baby, but she didn’t bring one. We waited and waited with the baby, unable to put her down. It was quite difficult for me to get one down from the tall and heavy stack, at five months pregnant, so some help from staff would have been much appreciated. Which also reminds me - there was nothing remotely suitable for a baby/toddler on the bar menu, so I wouldn’t bother dropping in if you’ve got little ones. Again, just a sandwich would do!

The Back Lane is now iconic in Woodstock. Food is always good, its a shame you need to wait quite a bit for it, despite being tapas.I love the quirky and young staff, but the kids still have to learn table service and speed and attentiveness.

Fantastic service, brilliant menu and always a lovely evening at the BLT. Best in Woodstock.
Hands down the best place to eat and drink in Woodstock, and definitely up there in the whole of Oxfordshire. Delicious flavours beautifully presented, lots of variety, high quality food, great choice of wines by the glass and bottle, fantastic team and lively environment.

We were meeting family half way and found this place during research. We are so pleased we did. We loved everything about it. Very friendly service & top quality food. We will return even though its not local for any of us
