Lovely food with friendly service.Worthy of its place on the @estrelladamm top 50 gastro- pubs!!Didn't stay this time so can't comment on rooms but if bar and restaurant are anything to go on they should be good.Good parking facilities. Some slopes and stairs as expected with an old building but original building has been sympathetically restored to provide a great venue.

Good quality food, HOWEVER, there is only ONE vegetarian option for both starter and main course, and in this day and age I just find this unacceptable in high end restaurants. What makes this worse is that the vegetarian option was literally just half a cabbage....that is not a meal. We were given a pre-starter of arancini which were really tasty, why not use something like that as the main point of a vegetarian meal? Why are we fobbed off with a side dish charged at £26??? These kinds of chefs need to stop being so lazy about vegetarian food, I would like an actual meal, not just a plate of vegetables. Also what if a vegetarian doesn't like cabbage? There's no other option to choose from. Sort it out, you arrogant chefs. Around 20% of people in Britain are vegetarian/vegan/cutting down their meat intake. Get with the programme.

The food was good quality (that's the only reason I've given it 2 stars) but unfortunately it was not cooked well which is was such a shame and the portion sizes were very small considering the bill came to £140( which was two main meals and one starter) and that's not including the service charge!!I would go for drinks but never again for food unless you like getting your pockets emptied!

This highly rates gastro pub in Wootton is well worth the visit. We had Sunday lunch there yesterday and it was so good. Everything on the plate was exactly how you imagined a perfect roast beef and Yorkshire pudding lunch should be. The service was immaculate and attentive but not rushed at all.We shared pudding and the lime pie with mandarin sorbet was stunning.First time I have visited the Killingsworth but a return will be a pleasure. Make sure you book a table soon..

Stayed for 2 nights with my dog Evie. Dinner in the pub was exceptionally good - as was breakfast both mornings. Room 3 is specifically dog friendly - a lovely large room with bath. Thought the service , food and rooms were spot on. I look forward to my next tripRooms: Room 3 is lovely - a converted barnFood & drinks: High end pub food

Ok, I'll start by being honest... I've never been to The Killingworth Castle... but I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and head chef whilst they were visiting Burnley .... I can only say that if their hotel and food are good as their passion for their business, then Killingworth Castle has to be a must visit......

We visited the Restaurant for a nice country pub lunch. It’s very country style / beautiful logfire & very Gastro pub like :)I would say quite nice overall, we had gone on our wedding anniversary but they did not have any champagne on their wine list but had English sparkling wine instead.Food was good / tried the duck which was nice & desserts were good too ! Decent wine list & had a lovely Rioja too !Overall I think it’s a 4.5/5Budget - it costed £200/- a couple with bottle of wine so it’s not cheap at all ( this is when we shared starters & deserts )A very good pub near Oxford but I amNot sure if I am visiting it soon though as I felt it missed the wow factor
