Fantastic very friendly welcoming staff. We called in on the off chance what a great choice. Food super delicious, best Savignon Blanc I have ever had! Added bonus it's very dog friendly. Can't recommend enough. Definitely go back. Can recommend the goyoza starter and the broad bean and spinach burger super yum ?

Excellent pub in the county of Rutland. Only shame is you can’t lean or sit at the bar if you are a solo traveler looking for some company.

If you are looking for a traditional pub with friendly locals, great food and excellent service, pop into the Sun. The pizzas in particular are outstanding. They are loaded with fresh and interesting ingredients and sit on a light crisp bases. I recommend booking to secure a table at weekends. Well done team, keep it up.

Excellent Sunday lunch, certainly rates as one of the best we've had. Service was good, we were sat in the conservatory extension so not a great pub atmosphere but okay. Overall great and we'll be back.

Dining at The Sun Inn on a Wednesday evening was an overall excellent experience. The pub itself was clean and well decorated. There were plants, and a unique bookcase wallpaper where we were sat which added to the atmosphere, and i loved this. We were served by a lovely lady with amazing service, and we were well looked after. Immediately after sitting down we were greeted by our server, and what we'd like to drink, and given menus. Pint was a 10/10 as usual. STARTER: BAKED CAMEMBERT. The food itself was great. We shared a baked camembert for a starter. The cheese itself was standard in flavour and came in a little black pot (very handy to prevent it spilling everywhere). We were given small toasted ciabatta pieces. They were very crunchy/crispy, but was plenty to share between us. I think soft bread would've been a more filling option, and the ciabatta was something we've never had with camembert before, but complimented it. For a dip, I'm usually not a fan of cranberry sauce, but this combination was incredible. A slight sour twang in a sweet sauce accompanied the cheese well. Overall rated 8/10 for this, just would've been nice to have more dipping bits... like peppers! MAINS: PIE AND BEEF DISH. After waiting about 5/10 minutes (great rest period from starter to main), we got our main dishes. I ordered pie of the day, of which was some sort of leek and ham pie with a rich creamy white sauce. This came with mash or chips, of which i chose the latter. They were very crunchy but soft and fluffy in the middle (perfect type of chip if you ask me). It also came with a mixed veg dish which includes approx. 2 broccoli, 2 cauliflower, a few sliced carrots, and about 5 Brussel sprouts. It was all cooked to perfection. I don't think it was needed with the pie though as the portion size was great. However, it made a nice sharing side. My only fault when this came out is the lack of gravy. It was a standard sort of gravy (bit like a bisto best), but i still wanted more to really soak everything in it. The pastry was chewy (my favourite kind), and was slightly flaky on the top, without being crumbly. I think this is the ideal pastry for a pie. I can't say it was my favourite pie ever, but was definitely a great contender against a pukka pie. Overall 9/10 on the chips, and a 6/10 all together. I would definitely recommend, despite being a lower rating. My friend had a beef dish (was a bit like a slow cooked piece), and was covered in a rich gravy sauce. The meat fell apart in your mouth, and was full of flavour. I believe it came with parsnips and carrots. Overall 7/10 for this dish. I would recommend. To conclude my review, I think the Sun Inn in Cottesmore was a good experience. I'd definitely recommend people eating here, if not for the food, but for the service. I'd give it all a 8 rating out of 10. I'm writing this as someone who is starting out reviewing food for fun, hoping it helps!

Lovely food and big pub. Lovely waitress, but we did wait quite a while for food. She was very apologetic.

Lovely local pub, really friendly & accommodating staff. We’ve recently moved into the area, and eaten here twice. We’ve tried the kebab (delicious) and a roast dinner. The menus had good variety and price points, and if you have kids they do smaller portions.Worth a visit, and I’m sure you’ll love it !

Been here for food twice. They have good old pub grub but also some great little surprises like pizza and kebabs and they are delicious. Sunday roast is lovely too. Good selection of ales and not a bad Guinness either.

We had a great meal during mid-week. Staff were really friendly, tables were full of people eating and drinking. Prices were fair. Both my sister and I had the lamb burger, it was delicious.
