2 West Rd, OakhamMe, my partner and our friend really fancied a chinese a wee while back! We hadn’t tried this place out yet, so we thought we’d give it a go. Ordered for collection and it was ready in half an hour, decent time! Order was £32 for 3 people which i thought was a good price. No parking aside from the pub next door which was difficult to get into, and the whole road was double yellows! Took us a while to be served, charged and get our food as only one staff member on, but she was really nice! I got chicken balls&chips (autism friendly) which i thought was so yummy! Apparently the chicken in black bean sauce was very sweet and not a lot of other flavour, and the sauce on the duck was not as thick as expected. Still, I enjoyed the food! I’d definitely come back… To update this review: it gave my partner the runs! Rather unfortunate… not sure if it was the food or just his biological make-up? x

9 N St E, Uppingham, OakhamIn the 80's I grew up in the neighborhood across the street . I would sneak out and ride my bike here whenever my mother cooked something I hated for dinner (ie. Beans and rice or that cabbage medley she loved to make). I always got two eggrolls and if i could afford it the sweet and sour chicken. This place is truly a staple of my childhood. Having recently moved back into the area and not finding any Chinese food that could compare I was eager to come and eat. I was promptly and friendly greeted. Not knowing about the fire, the inside looked very familiar to how I remember. I got my old order. OMGOSH, I have been immediately blasted back to 1988! Everything tasted the same. From the rice, to the chicken and i think they improved on the eggrolls . I inhaled most of it. I tried to tackle it all but the generous portions forced me to stop. But at least I have something to come back to in a few hours because I know I will be craving it. I guess they better prepare to be sick of me. This may be my once a week stop!

It is such a lovely restaraunt and they put in so much effort to make it an extra special birthday for him giving him a card and a candle in his dessert. The food was excellent and to a really high standard, and the staff were attentive. My only complaint is the portion size for some of the courses. For the bread for the table we were given one slice of sourdough bread that had been halved rather than a piece each, and for the soup I was also given one small slice although the soup was lovely. For the main my partner got the pork chop which looked like it was missing a couple of slices too. We were not full after the starters and mains and actually were considering getting a portion of chips after. But other than that, the food is 10 out of 10 bursting with flavour!

At one point I thought one of the two gentlemen( in the party of six) was going to sit on my knee . The owner was incredibly kind and gave me chicken salt when he found out I was Australian, which made the meal even better. The staff made me feel very welcome and were happy to provide extra utensils and sauces. When I come back to the UK, I will definitely be returning.

Stayed in room 7 in an annex across the car park. The room was clean, warm, comfortable and had everything needed for our stay. I especially liked the adjustable shaving and make up mirror in the large bathroom, face cloths along with the towels were wonderfully soft and the adjustable bedside lamps. Breakfast was really good. Car park small and a bit hard to spot, although post code supplied does take u to it. A great stay

Always greet you with a smile and seem to love their jobs. Really friendly environment. Lots of space for prams but no high chairs, very child friendly with kids drinks on the menu. Lovely place to relax with a coffee and a book, amazing tasting coffee too which is probably the cheapest you can find in a cafe in oakham!

2-4 Northgate, OakhamWe had a fantastic visit to The Wheatsheaf in Oakham. I ordered the fish and chips, which was top quality – perfectly cooked fish and absolutely lovely chips. My wife had the scampi, and that was just as good.
The service really stood out. The waitress was super polite, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout.
All round, a beautiful meal in a lovely pub. We’ll definitely be back.

6 Somerby Rd, Knossington, OakhamHad the loveliest Sunday lunch at a quaint little village pub today. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, with that perfect relaxed countryside charm that makes you want to stay all afternoon.
I started with a beautifully presented goat’s cheese tart — crisp pastry, rich and creamy filling, and perfectly balanced flavours. For the main, I had the roast beef, which was cooked perfectly: tender, juicy, and full of flavour. The roast potatoes were golden and crispy, and everything came together just how a proper Sunday roast should.
Friendly staff, great food, and a wonderfully welcoming setting — exactly what you hope for from a traditional village pub. I’ll definitely be back.
