Very reasonably priced and some good additions to the usual pub menus . My chicken skewers with thin frys and a salad was delicious and fleshly cooked to order. Pleasant staff and surroundings. Definitely worth a trip out for

Was quiet, late lunch in January, but friendly, good service, good food - particularly the chips!Suspect it will be very busy in the summer, with some nice outside seating.Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options on the menu, but not extensive.Parking: Some free parking in pub car park on the opposite side of the road.

Pub opened early on Boxing Day for the Rutland Morris Mummer's Play. The beer was good, the coffee was excellent. I can't speak for the food not having sampled it but atmosphere, with a cosy log burner going, was safe and welcoming.Parking: There is a car park but if you are disabled be warned that the disabled space in the carpark is at the top of some steps leading to, of all things, two more disabled parking spaces at the bottom of the steps on the way to the pub.Kid-friendliness: Children aren't liable to be shot and (at least during the day) are allowed in the pub if accompanied by an adult.

We booked a table for 4 as a treat for an aunt and uncle who lived nearby. We were expecting good wholesome pub food and a pint. We weren't disappointed. The food was cooked well and of decent proportions. The atmosphere was nice and there were other diners there without the pub being overcrowded. The member of staff who served us was polite and appeared to have our interests in mind without being intrusive. The venison burger was lovely and the delicious sticky toffee pudding ensured we wouldn't need to eat later. It made our experience a good one, having travelled 25 miles to get there. So much so the aunt and uncle want to go again.

A pleasant atmosphere, warm, tables spaced at a comfortable distance, clean and no pressures from staff who were alert when we were ready to order etc.. Good humour in the wifi code and labels on toilets [which were clean and tidy]. Food is delightfully simple and served in a traditional way. My steak was cooked exactly as I had hoped, and others in the group were happy with what they ordered. The car park is convenient and well-maintained. Worth a journey of 200 miles [roughly midway with others in the family].
