Damp musty room. Mould aplenty in bathroom and around bedroom window. No hot water to wash hands after toileting even after alerting stand in management. A portable heater was brought to us after asking for some more heat in the room, alas still condensation in the morning on all 4 panes in the window, 2 of which were cracked. My partner who has breathing difficulties could not last the night because of the mould/dampness and left in a taxi to take her miles home at midnight.

At first I thought it was a stupid joke. I have never seen such a dirty and smelly hotel room in my life. It was so disgusting that we immediately left and found another hotel. They refused to return the money and said that we should have requested a cleaner hotel room. I don't even want to imagine what it looks like at there homes

Food was fine. Barman and other customers were friendly and pleasant. Bar is dog friendly and we were given a bowl of water for our dog without asking for it.

Bathroom was dirty, no Wi-Fi in the bedroom. Land lord and land lady had a stand up row in the bar. Try to book into the Commercial 100yrds away if you can.

Rooms are very basic but expected, as cost was very low. Staff were friendly, but other than breakfast, would not recommend eating there.

To be absolutely honest: The owners are really nice and the pub is quite cozy. I would not recommend the rooms though. Unfortunately, this house needs maintenance and mold removal :(Rooms: Unfortunately quite moldy rooms and washrooms. Not very clean.

The higher reviews are for the pub not the rooms. You have been warned.

Stopped off for a couple of drinks after a long walk and I'm pleased to say that the couple that appeared to be running things couldn't be nicer. Very helpful and full of local knowledge.

Would and will use again. Be back for Tarland2 trails...Rooms: Basic but clean and all you need.Nearby activities: Biking trails north and south of the hotel. Tarland 1 and Tarland 2 trailsFood & drinks: Food and drink is a pretty good price. It's not overcharging like most places.

Please look at the photos to form your own opinion. Sadly due to the aggression received upon complaining I will not describe the experience. A basic hotel room still means clean. I have never stayed anywhere like this. Ever.

Lovely place. Catherine and Niki are fantastic hosts.

From the moment we arrived my heart sank. The entrance was littered with cigarette ends and rubbish including a face mask that was there for days, I think the Hoover must have been broken and at the menders. The dark brown stair carpet had exactly the same piles of rubbish on it for the whole of our stay. The iron must also have broken as the sheets and table clothes were just out of the washing machine, dried then put on beds and tables. As for the shower, it hadnt seen a bottle of cleaner ever. We stayed for 6 nights and our room was never cleaned, beds not made, the bin was only emptied once. We didnt risk eating there as I dread to think about the state of the kitchen.Shabby seek is perfectly ok. I can respect tired but not dirty. And this was beyond dirty.

Evening meal and a few drinks in this lovely local hotel. Food was spot on and inexpensive, drinks were value for money. A good honest pub with very friendly staff, we will definitely return before heading home.

Great family room for a family wedding locally. Great bar for a pint in friendly atmosphere with great character.
