Took the opportunity to eat here during the winter (evening) when it is less busy. We were seated very promptly and viewed the menu where there was certainly plenty on offer not just your standard fish and chips. However I could not come here and not have the haddock and chips, mushy peas and a side of curry sauce. Very decent portion, batter very light and very good chips for a chippie. My wife opted for the smoked haddock which she loved and particularly enjoyed the tartar sauce that we had also ordered. Service very friendly and efficient and I topped it off with an excellent ice cream even though we were in the midst of winter. If you are visiting during the summer be prepared to queue.

This was absolutely worth the detour home to try the fish and chips. Food was amazing and they even have a natty bit of info on the name of the fisherman who caught the fish fresh that day. ?

Best fish and chips ever!!! My husband was very pleased to have finally had some great food. For me the Prawn & Hot-smoked salmon salad was an absolute game changer and my mouth starts watering all over again when I think of that delectable dish!!! Keep in mind, the inside of the cafe is tiny, but there's nothing fresher than their food, and it's wonderful to take the recyclable carton containers outside, find a bench on the promenade, and watch the ocean as you tuck in!

My brother and I had the haddock fish in the lightest batter I have ever tasted with chips, bread and butter and a cup of tea all for a very reasonable price, it was very worth it and no wonder that they get good reviews because it lived up to all expectations, would recommend this place to anyone who was visiting Anstruther.

Absolutely the best fish and chips I’ve had. YouTuber foodies are the ones I found out from about this place. Now… you shouldn’t base everything on YouTube videos, but these weren’t sponsored. They were honest reviews and they were correct. I am not sure when I will next eat fish and chips when I go home because these are that good. The people in there are very friendly and helpful. It was great service and everything was perfect. The batter was nice and crispy and the haddock delicious. The ice-cream is something I didn’t know about but I’d recommend having that as it was really, really good. This place has a lot of good reviews and it’s actually honestly correct. Can’t wait to come back. (I will come back tomorrow as still got a couple of days left, but I’ll be coming back here again when next in Scotland. I don’t care if I’m going NW Scotland - I’ll take a detour.) My photos aren’t doing it justice. I was off-centre because I was distracted by enjoying the food.

Have frequented fish shop for many years, a round 40 mile trip often to get the best fish and chips. Today, very disappointed in the chip “scraps” in one of the boxes. Has happened before, but so many other suppers have been excellent, it did not deter us. But i doubt now if we will waste fuel and money to receive this quality of food.

Easily some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The portions were generous and reasonably priced for the portions. The fish was so fresh, crispy yet flaky and tender, chips the perfect accompaniment, and the mushy peas were exactly that...mushy peas. Service was attentive and prompt. Facilities were clean. Highly recommended regardless of queue size. It's worth the wait.

I went here with the understanding I would be eating some of the best fish and chips I would ever eat but sadly I was highly disappointed. Fish was over cooked and far from moist.Would not recommend going here.

I don’t think this place quite lives up to its reputation. This was my second time here (9 years apart) and both times the fish was over cooked and dry, but did taste very good and was battered well. Chips were good. Price is fair and love the atmosphere and vibe of the

I have to say, sadly, wasn't worth the 40 minute wait to be seated. Fish was delicious and beautifully battered, however, the chips were dry and tasteless. The side salad wasn't a salad at all. We were kept waiting for a good 10 minutes even when tables were free. Then it took another 15 minutes once we were eventually seated for our food order to be taken. The staff were lovely, but the service was chaotic. I thought the portion size was a bit small for the price.Overall, it wasn't the best experience and felt let down considering the hype around the place. Personally, I won't be back.
Food was delicious staff friendly and everything was very clean highly recommended high chairs available if needed icecream bar and traditional sweets on sale fabulous

This is the best fish and chips I had while visiting Scotland.Being from America there is no place that compares. The fish actually melts in your mouth.I had a hard time ordering any fish and chips at other restaurants in Scotland.I feel bad giving it 5 stars because that is way to low.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience yesterday. I was in Anstruther for the Isle of May Open Weekend. I had a Fish Supper. It was delicious. And kept me going on my walk around the island. The staff were friendly and welcoming. With a place as popular as this. Their can be queues. But the staff work hard and deliver great service. Will definitely come back when I am next in Anstruther again.

The Anstruther fish bar is an institution. There is a reason that people regularly queue out of the door to get their fish suppers here. Fresh fish straight off the boat with a reasonable portion of chips. The staff serve as quickly as they can. Word of warning. If you take your fish supper out to the harbour, the gulls will have a go if they think they can get away with it.

When I went here in 2003 there was no Google reviewing. I got nostalgic and looked up this place and it appears nothing has changed. They're still getting great business sticking to the same recipes. Atmosphere looks great. I am amazed 20 years later. How in a good way? Everything seems the same and decided to post my pictures from 20 years ago. 2003.
