Very bland food. The curry was a chicken cream stew with no flavor. The other guests in our party added balsamic vinegar and other condiments to all their dishes to create a level of flavor.

What we had off the menu was good, and there's plenty of choice to keep it interesting. A decent portion size of chilli and a tasteful venison burger for a fair, mid-range restaurant price. Friendly staff, no complaints, would visit again.Last visited 23/11/2023

Great food and service, with friendly staff. Made us feel very welcome.

Nice friendly staff, really attentive. Well cooked and presented food. Additional charge of £1.95 for slice of cheese on a kids hamburger took cost of kids meal excluding drink to over £10 , a bit steep but it was nice. My camembert small plate was delicious and great value. Would likely return if in area.

service was good and friendly. the pumpkin ravioli we're good. the rest of our food was mid(e.g. soggy Fries). quality and size doesnt match the price. Really nice atmosphere

Friendly prompt service despite being busy. Having read the previous post about the gammon steak, I can report mine was fine. The nice aspect was 2 fried eggs which covered the gammon. The chips were crispy. The peas were probably tinned(?) which aren’t my favourite. The others had spaghetti bolognaise which was tasty. Pity the Theakston ciders available were both fruity variants. At least the Cairngorm Hotel bar serviced Theakston Original ?

The service was fine, pleasant staff and drinks were delivered fast. The meal was terrible, we hadn't finished our starters when the main course was attempted to be delivered. The waitress apologized and returned it to the kitchen, where no doubt it sat under the hot plate until we were ready. My scampi tasted nice but unsure if the chips had been anywhere near the fryer. My husbands gammon was tough, the eggs were rock hard (perhaps from being under the hot lamps) and his chips not cooked, when the peas are the nicest part of your meal there is a problem. In the ladies toilet the seat was extremely loose and the lid fell down hitting me on my back then there was no way to dry my hands after washing them. One meal was taken off the bill, it was the worst meal we have ever had.

What a quirky little cracker. Some amazing home cooked food in a cozy and welcoming venue. Almost a 5 star spot but the service was a little chaotic but the staff are friendly and accommodating if a little rushed. I had the chicken curry and it was absolutely delightful! Would not hesitate to try again if I was in the area.Parking: Easy parking along the high street

Brilliant place. Was busy when we arrived but by the time we ordered a drink we had our table. Food was delicious. I had a burger and it was cooked perfectly. My friend had chilli and the portion was really big. Chocolate cheesecake for her dessert and sticky toffee pudding for myself and both were thoroughly enjoyed. Staff worked extremely hard as it was busy, but still joked and smiled with the customers.

Had an amazing birthday dinner with my girlfriend! We had a salmon salad, ribeye steak and scampi. Food was served very quick and it was great quality. Very friendly stuff that are not afraid to go extra mile to make you feel welcome! Thank you a lot for an amazing experience!

Despite being very busy, the staff were able to accommodate our group after a 30-minute wait. The food and drink are reasonably priced and the staff were polite and friendly. What let this establishment down for me was the bog-standard homemade chicken curry. I could have done this myself back home in the microwave. Perhaps I chose the wrong dish,or maybe they were rushed, but I definitely wouldn't recommend that particular meal. However, my friend, who had the rump steak, said his meal was good. All in all, I would say that Macduis is average.

We specially appreciated the 'healthy home-cooked' menu options, eg. beautifully cooked fish or chicken dishes with fresh veg and new potatoes. Also the service was pleasant and efficient despite being quite busy. We would definitely return.
