From Scotland but live in Australia, this is the second time we have stayed and it will never disappoint!! The hotel is so comfortable and homely and even more so with the Christmas decorations!! The staff are friendly and the restaurant is amazing..

My family and I came here on holiday from Florida for a couple of nights. We absolutely loved every second of it and were sad to leave. There are plenty activities around the hotel and they even provided activities with the staff. We took a stargazing stroll around the loch with Kyle and even though it was quite cold we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was informative and Kyle was great to talk to. Every evening we had a table by the fireplace (which we rarely get to enjoy) while drinking either a dram or a hot chocolate (the best ever) and play cards. We were so thankful that the staff, including Jonny, would sit and talk to us. It made the place seem so homey. The food at the restaurant for dinner was scrumptious and we got stuffed on multiple courses for breakfast. The rooms were very cozy and the bathroom was modern. We were so thankful for our time here and will definitely be recommending it, and hopefully coming back.

Beautiful hotel in idyllic surroundings. Johnny and Tamasina were amazing, welcoming and attentive hosts as were every member of staff especially Auntie who made our little Cavalier Luna so welcome and well fed with treats! We stayed in two fantastic rooms with super king incredibly comfortable beds, views from room 5 were wonderful.Showers were luxurious and fluffy towels. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate with shortbread in the rooms with a tray outside for extra milk was a nice touch. Breakfast was gourmet, fruit salad and berry, yoghurt and granola standout starters and full Scottish and eggs benedict were delicious! Evening meals were exquisite the cod loin and sea bream first night and Chicken Supreme with black pudding stuffing was the best I've had, my partners Aubergine rolls with ricotta were sublime. The grounds and setting was perfect, a short walk across a rolling wild countryside to Loch Alvie which was stunning once the mist cleared. Chilling by the two real fires another highlight. Overall a perfectly pleasant stay, will assuredly be staying again soon!

Outstanding experience staying at the Rowan tree for a night, the food was incredible.... we treated ourselves to the chateau Brien to share and it was perfect, all the staff were welcome friendly and great fun giving a lovely informal fine dining experience. One lady who's name I didn't catch even came out to our motorhome to give the collies a biscuit after dinner. Breakfast the next morning was just as good, lovely fresh local produce cooked to perfection! The facilities are lovely with lots of space to sit and relax at the bar or lounge after dinner. An all round amazing welcoming experience! We will be back as soon as we are back in Scotland. Thanks everyone!Rooms: Motorhome stopover package available with ehu £115 including 3 course meal for 2 and cooked breakfast next morningNearby activities: Just outside Aviemore an activity hub in the highlandsFood & drinks: Perfect.....

Dinner for 2 on Sunday evening: all tables were occupied by the time we left, and not surprisingly! One of us had mussels and fish'nchips, the other aubergine bake and cod loin, then shared a lemon tart. As well cooked as you might expect in a good London or Edinburgh restaurant - with Edinburgh prices to match. The Merlot was good too. Friendly attentive service. Shall definitely return. About 5 minutes drive from the centre of Aviemore.

We went here for dinner only. The food was fantastic with excellent service to match. A great choice if you are staying in aviemore for fine dining.

Delicious food with good gluten free and vegan options. A bit pricey but worth it.

Lovely meal last night, I made the restaurant aware at booking and again when we arrived I have Coeliac Disease and would require a gluten free meal. Was not a problem - menu is well labelled. I also got some bread, slightly after my husband got his but I got some. I had the tri of lamb which was stunning and then a raspberry parfait for dessert. Would deffo eat here again

ordered food, came raw sent it back came raw again staff were nice about it the whole time but everyone who eat that night with me felt sick when we went home and honestly just wasn’t impressed with menu choices, too fancy for where it is and what kind of restaurant it is, pieces were a little ridiculous too

A tale of two halves (Note, we only dined and didn’t stay at the hotel). First thing to note is that the dining room looks lovely from a distance, though we didn’t eat in there. We were seated in the bland and somewhat awkward reception area with no decor. Next up is that 3 of the kids menu dishes are chicken, but we were told there was no chicken of any kind. The kids ordered beef burgers instead, which arrived burnt: I assume these are chargrilled, but they were past that point. Sadly the kids didn’t point this out until they were nearly finished, but we were offered 50% off one of them. Oddly, the table next to us then ordered, and received, a chicken burger. Turns out they did have chicken. When we pointed this out, the waitress simply said “well I was told we didn’t have any”. Ho hum. Lastly, the kids ordered a single scoop of lemon and a single scoop of raspberry sorbet: the kitchen made a error and brought two lemon and raspberry two-scoop sorbets, which was apologised for by the waitress. No so bad you’d think, except they then tried to charge us for the two. The counterpoint here is that my trio of lamb was excellent, with the shepherd’s pie bit of it genuinely delicious, the fish and chips equally good, and the aubergine veggie option really quite inventive. The prices are steep though: £29 for a main is top end, and the rest of the experience doesn’t live up to the expectation that price sets, sadly.

The restaurant was brilliant. Trio of lamb exceptional as was the venison - fresh, locally sourced and cooked to perfection with delicious sides. Soup starters, mains, wine and cocktails all excellent and service very friendly. Thank you for the best meal we’ve had in Scotland.
