Having read all the bad reviews we avoided this place when staying at the Spey Valley resort. However, we were starving and just wanted somewhere on site, fast. To our surprise it was actually very tasty and cooked to perfection.. when we arrived there was only 1 table in but we were told there was a table of 10 due to might be a wait as only 1 chef (on a sat night) . We ordered before they arrived and we got our food quick enough. Waitresses were lovely too. If anything.. a wee bit of rock salt on the steak wouldn’t go a miss.

Booked through the website for 5.30. We were staying at the other MacDonalds hotel, so eventually we discovered where the steakhouse was located. Given other comments and as we have a disabled daughter I decided while on a cycle to drop in past and check the reservation. Met with a sulky employee who took me into the restaurant and looked up the bookings and told me we didn’t have a booking despite me showing him our confirmation email!!! He said basically tough luck, and with staff shortages I can’t book you in. I decided I couldn’t be bothered with him so left. If that’s the attitude before you arrive, perhaps just as well we didn’t go. Looked a bit of a cold barn tbh, had a fabulous meal at the Cairngorm Hotel brilliant staff excellent food.

Restaurant was never open due to no staff. No atmosphere. TV is always on showing golf or music channel. Hardly anyone uses the place anymore.

Awful experience. Nachos starters - missing items, hardly any cheese. Was like someone had emptied a bag of tortillas on the plates. Haggis bon bons the size of 50p. Looked burnt but surprisingly tasty. Surf and turf - well - steaks were good. Plates served without the Surf (prawns) had to ask again. They then arrived in a small side dish (very uninspired). Then had to ask again for the side dishes we ordered so the food came out piecemeal literally. What is happening at the pass? And to top it all - most of the food was barely warm. Rebated us the nachos but nothing else. Place was relatively quiet so awful standard was hard to fathom and at a premium price. How a chef can allow such fare to get to the table is quite unbelievable. Won't be back.

I am very disappointed. I travel half way around the world to visit the Highlands of Scotland and the resort I am staying in has a restaurant that is not opened for most of the week while I am here. But Google says it is open every day. I planned on this in my travels and I am very disappointed in this resort. ?

For the second year running when we turned up for our table they couldn’t find our reservation. The restaurant manager just wanted to argue with us, but finally agreed to seat us. It was only 6.30pm and although one large group had finished their meal there was only two other tables in use, and it advertises as open till 10pm. Was disappointed with the menu as it advertises itself as a steakhouse there is only one steak on the menu, it was however cooked lovely but the rest of the food appeared to be frozen.

Being timeshare owners at the resort, we’ve seen many changes in the resort over the years. Although not staying at the resort this time with our great-nieces, we had dinner at the Steakhouse on 3 nights. Although the old menu was limited for our tastes, we enjoyed our meals - the fish was lovely and the apple crumble was excellent. Michael, the new Manager at the Club, advised us that a new menu will be introduced very soon, which we look forward to sampling when we return in October. However, every night was a sheer delight for the whole family, and our great-nieces were absolutely elated to find that Maggie was still managing the restaurant. She’s just fantastic - the perfect blend of professionalism, enthusiasm and friendliness, with a natural flair for customer care = a true asset to the company. Sandy, Kathleen, Bailey and Chelsea xx

would like to review, but despite only one table occupied in the whole place we were a walk in and they were too busy….

One of the worst meals I can say I have ever experienced! Myself and twins were advised by a call mid afternoon that it was “curry night Tuesday”…nothing else to choose from! The twins are not fussy eaters but couldn’t eat the chicken curry. Containers with lumps of hard rice, chicken curry that was luke warm and generally all very disappointing all round! Sadly reminded me of school dinners…

Food was terrible, steak was asked for medium rare and it might have eneded up being drier than the Sahara desert - not one sign of red/pinkness, staff were nice and friendly enough and offered to refund steak, although food was disappointing sadly.

We stay at Dalfaber a couple of times a year and have always enjoyed a meal here. This time was equally enjoyable, excellent food and service. Very nice attentive staff, particularly the lady who has been there a long time, she certainly looked after us. Thank you

Staying here just now ... so poor , waited 50 min and had to ask if our starters were coming , my wife got hers which had obviously been sitting on the pass for god knows how long ... 10 mins later I got mine, 2 mins after we finished our mains turned up , both as dry as sand. No point saying to the poor waiter as he was on his own serving the bar and the restaurant... This place professes to be 4 going on 5 star .. they really do need to reevaluate that... 400 quid nearly for 3 days self-catering... oh dear so poor
