We had a very pleasant stay at the Mercure in Ayr. Our room was on floor 4 and very quiet, which pleased us. A special mention must be included for the housekeeping staff who kept our room very clean and I had the opportunity of thanking one of them as we were leaving.Rooms: Kept very clean.Walkability: Really close to shops and bus station.

Breakfast was very good!Staff in restaurant/bar/reception were good.Corridors leading to the rooms were incredibly tired and worn.Room itself was…okay. Until I sat on the bed and felt the springs in the mattress. Got woken up when I turned over in the night to find one of the springs had actually come through the mattress and was sticking out!I had a disabled room with a wet room as a bathroom. Blue lino flooring pealed away from floor, inside door was rotten down the bottom where it was getting wet.Drain in the centre of the floor not quick enough to drain the wet room when showering. Room filled with water and went under the Lino that had peaked away from the door area. When I stepped out of the bathroom the floor area was flooded and had also soaked into the carpet.Reception moved me the next morning to a room that was much better and the bed was a lot more comfortable.The next day was working in my room and accidentally dropped my pen onto the bed leaving a small ink stain on the sheet on top of the mattress. I had my room cleaned every other day as I don’t see the need for fresh bedding everyday etc.but after 5 days I would’ve expected the bedding to have been changed as the ink stain was still there. It was evident that the maid had changed the pillow cases as one was on inside out and the old one had been forgotten about in the wardrobe area. Dirty towel had also been left on the floor in the bathroom.I’m an extremely tidy person and my room is always spotless so the maid would’ve had minimal to do in the room. It seems if she didn’t change the actually bedding whilst I stayed in that room at all and only ever made the bed and changed the occasional pillow case/refilled the coffee sachets and left fresh towels there would’ve be a lot more to do.What I’m trying to say is attention to detail goes a long way when cleaning a room

Had a lovely 2 nights stay with my husband. The room was very clean and spacious.We had dinner and breakfast and it was delicious. Hotel was near the bus station and the city centre shops were a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Overall a lovely 2 nights break.Rooms: Lovely room with coffee and tea making facilities. The bed was big and comfy and I had the best sleep ever

Stayed here with work lovely hotel staff are great breakfast is best i have had dinner is good bar excelent and bedroom is brilliant for what i needRooms: Lynne and the reception team are brilliant they cant be more helpful the bar staff are very nice andrew makes lovely cocktails drinks are reasonable priced restaurant is lovely food for the price Megan and the housekeeping team are very very helpful make your room nice and clean.

Perfect locatin for all town centre amenities, lovely, clean, spacious rooms, delicious breakfast and dinner, staff were friendly and helpful and i look forward to our next visit.The only down side was the swimming pool being iut of order and the strong smell of damp throughout the hotel. This might be in relation to the issue with the swimming pool?Rooms: Large and cleanNearby activities: 5 minutes walk from the beach.Food & drinks: Dinner was delicious and the staff were very kind and attentive.

Fantastic breakfast once again in this hotel, Gordon at check in was so efficient and friendly. Neil in the restaurant was so helpful and friendly discussing options we could have from the menu. The team I’m the hotel are a credit to it.Food & drinks: Best buffet breakfast by far
Stayed for one week, very efficient and helpful staff. Restaurant was good for both breakfast and dinnerLounge areas very comfortable. My only gripe was a tall but narrow bath which when using the very good shower made getting in and out very awkward. Should have been a walk in shower. Compared to the very large room the bathroom was on the too small tobe comfortable.

Lovely hotel in a great location in Ayr town centre. Couple of minutes walk to the beach/low green and train/bus stations. Free parking (get there early!). Staff were very friendly and helpful especially Kayleigh in the restaurant.If there had been air con and a fridge in the room we would have rated 5 star. We'll definitely be back though - thanks for the warm welcome.Food & drinks: 5 of us ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and we were all happy (even the fussy ones!)

Attentive service in the dining room and tasty food. However, staff numbers including having only 1 chef in the kitchen on the busiest day in the town since Covid was a major failing by management. Also, the toilets, both male and female were absolutely filthy which again shows poor attention to detail by management.
