Went to the cowshed on Sunday 10th March and the food was unbelievable. By far the BEST beef we have ever had and we are so glad we made a last minute reservation. It was busy as it was Mothering Sunday but it was still perfect service and great value for money. When we come back to Banchory we will be visiting again.

Takeaway and restaurant are my favourite food places in

A very welcoming restaurant with friendly staff, good service, and excellent food. It's definitely the best battered fish we had on our visit.

The food at the Cowshed is really brilliant! The beef with the Sunday dinner was so tender it just melted in your mouth and the rest of the trimmings were all tasty too. The fish and chips also ticked all the boxes - crispy fish with nice seasoned batter and fluffy chip shop style

It's a good chippy. Best chippy fish in Banchory. What more can I say!

Nice place, staff friendly but service a bit slow. Meal was nice enough but nothing to shout about.Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly with special cutlery and cups

Our go to chipper, but sadly our chips last night were hard and we didn’t eat them.Fish and chicken fillets were delicious though.

Brilliant food and service. The Sunday lunch sharing platter was amazing. Will definitely return next time we are in the area.

We held a private event at this venue and the service from start to finish was exemplary. Susan and Joy helped us with suggestions for menu choices, timings and table layouts, mostly via email. On the evening itself the service and food were perfect. The team led by Joy, Louise and Pedro were friendly, efficient and exceptional at managing dietary requirements. Our family and friends had an excellent night, and had many compliments about the venue, staff and especially the food.

Take-away service and portions have gone downhill at the Cowshed. Over £11 for a haddock supper yet noticably smaller portions (consistent from our last 2 visits), Seems like they are trying to recoup losses during the pandemic. Service is also poor because the desk that gives your order doesn’t speak to the crew at the fish bar giving your food. And…a 40p admin doesnt get you a bag, that’s another 20p and you have to ask for it. Not great anymore all in all.

Really looked forward to chips from the Cowshed Takeaway! Sadly opened the box and most of the chips were stuck together in one big clump! Any others were like eating rocks! Only good for bucket! Such a shame! Just told a friend and they said that they could have told me that?

We have dined in at The Cowshed a couple of times and it has been good. So last night we were looking forward to take away fish and chips. It was average and we would not rush back. My wife had gluten free haddock and chips, the batter on the fish was soggy and not pleasant. There seemed to be a problem with all the chips which were leathery and 'chewy'. My fish was OK but nowhere near as good as I had expected. Maybe just an off night??

Bike Forever

Unfortunately never got to try the food. Having been reccomended, I arranged a 50 mile bike ride to pass the Cowshed at about 35miles done. Arrived Friday evening to find a sign saying "no walkins 5.30-6.30". Checked and it was 6.30 exactly.Cool.Went in and was asked if I had a pre-order. Err, no. "Sorry, first slot is 7.20.""I'm on a bike ride and just want a fish supper to eat and be on my way""Yes, but first slot is 7.20."Seems the service model doesn't work for those who can't predict their arrival time, or might want to drop by on a whim. Shame. I won't be back. My commendation to the staff member who was lovely, polite and apologetic, but hamstrung by the service system.

A venue well off the beaten track. Plenty of parking available. A modern, clean and tidy venue. The food was excellent for each course. The fish and chips were very good as was the chicken dish. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Overall, an excellent experience providing good value for money. Well worth a visit.
