Potarch Café
Cafe and Restaurant, Potarch, BanchoryWent to the cafe for a quick snack on a cold day in February. Could have been a bit warmer inside. Savoury rolls were good but the sourdough bread was a bit overpowering for the fillings and the bacon had obviously just been heated up and not fried fresh. Cakes were excellent, cheesecake and banana bread with custard.
Finally it is a shame that the decor is too grey and the lighting a bit dim. Probably very on trend but some extra colour would be welcome.

We enjoyed a celebration evening at the restaurant in March and had any amazing time.
Excellent food, wine and service provided by the whole team guided by Michele and Lesia. Fresh fish and Calamari all washed down with an amazing bottle of Amicale.
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our friend’s birthday and our daughter’s wedding.
A great stop if you near Banchory, warm hosts and great value await.

Scolty Cafe
Ternan House, 6 N Deeside Rd, BanchoryCome here often with family and friends and really enjoy it. There is indoor and an outdoor seating area with a little play section for children. Kids eat free during the holidays with a purchased adult meal which is a bonus. The food is delicious and fairly priced. My favourite is the salt and pepper chicken loaded fries. Definitely would recommend.

22 Station Rd, Torphins, BanchoryA fabulous little find whilst exploring the castles of Aberdeenshire today!
On arrival, we were greeted by a lovely staff member, who kindly talked us through all the tasty treats on offer. She was especially inclusive of our little one, and gave her the confidence to order for herself, which normally she finds very scary!!
We ordered the following:
Our little one had the gooey chocolate brownie, made with 4 different kinds of chocolate, which she absolutely adored!
My wife had a pear and hazelnut bake, served warm, which was absolutely delicious - a fair few mouthfuls ended up on my fork!
And I went for the rhubarb, orange and almond torte, which was perfectly balanced, sweet and a real treat!
We had double shot lattes, made with expertise and were perfect - exactly what we needed!
A special hot chocolate was made for our little one, with frothy milk, sprinkles and marshmallows, which she loved!
All together the cost was very reasonable, especially for an independent business in the off-season.
Before leaving we were shown some wonderful craft, a print for every day of the year - it’s a shame we’re an 8 hour drive away normally (probably a little too far for a coffee date!) or else we’d definitely come back to see how the prints are looking over the year, but will absolutely keep a look out for photos on social media!
Overall, a fabulous coffee stop for a wintery afternoon, we were very impressed and will absolutely come back if we’re in the area!
Managed to get a photo of our drinks, but the sweet treats were just too good so had mostly disappeared before I got a snap - oops!!

The Square, Torphins, BanchoryBit of confusion over takeaway pricing.
After ordering we thought the bill was a bit high so consulted the menu. A substantial difference. We were told the menus were out of date.
Fair enough. Looked at online version. Different prices but still less than we paid. We were told the website was out of date.
Finally went to an online ordering site. Seems those prices are accurate so a bit of a mess really.

N Deeside Rd, BanchoryOverall, a great experience. Food was good, the place is VERY clean and the locals were friendly. Bathrooms were recently remodeled and beautiful. The bruschetta was some of the best I've had. The tatty scins were quite good, and the squeekiest halloumi fries we've ever had. Definitely would stop again.

Tor-Na-Coille Hotel
Inchmarlo Rd, BanchoryOur recent stay at the Tor Na Coille Hotel was absolutely wonderful and exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome by the friendly and attentive staff.
The hotel itself is beautiful. We particularly loved the tastefully decorated restaurant. The lounge was also elegant and cosy—the perfect spot to relax with a drink . Our bedroom was great; clean, very quiet, and well-decorated.
It was equipped with everything we could possibly need, including a comfortable en-suite shower and toilet, a plethora of toiletries, and the added conveniences of an iron, ironing board, TV, and hairdryer.
The selection of coffee and teas and homemade shortbread in the room was a lovely touch .
We dined in the elegant restaurant and had a truly delicious dinner. The menu offered a great variety, and we were particularly impressed with the excellent vegan options for one of our party, which can often be an afterthought but were clearly well-prepared and flavorful and huge portions for us all .
Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with a fantastic full Scottish spread that again catered brilliantly to vegans .
The location is ideal, set within spacious, peaceful grounds that are lovely to wander around . It’s also incredibly convenient, just a short distance from the main street and the beautiful Falls of Feugh . An unexpected bonus was the large, modern gym next door that guests are free to use, which was a great facility .
Considering the high standard of the accommodation, the exceptional food, and the warm hospitality, the price felt very reasonable. We honestly couldn't fault it and are already planning our return visit. Highly recommended!

Raemoir House
Raemoir House, BanchoryGot married at the end of July 2025 and what an incredible Wedding Venue it was! Owners and the staff were all so welcoming. We got married in house and it was equally beautiful as outside on the lawn to the forest to the Marquee.
Food was incredible and guests are still going on about it.
The venue is dog friendly too and will be greeted by the owners dogs Hunter and Harry?

Restaurant in the garden
Rose Cottage, Raemoir Rd, BanchoryWent for brunch with our family that live in Scotland and we absolutely loved the place! Visiting from Greece, my 7yrs old son loved their breakfast options and their tarts!
I on the other hand was lost in the Garden Center among all those amazing things being sold! Loved their highland cow themed mugs!!

The Stag Hotel
40 High St, BanchoryWe often come to Banchory, but this was the first time we stayed in a hotel (4 nights). The hotel is very, very beautiful and definitely deserves more stars. It is clean, the rooms are spacious and very cozy, and I felt completely comfortable. The rooms were freshly made up every day. We didn’t get the chance to visit the pub due to our tight schedule, but it was always busy in the evenings and looked very inviting, next time we will definitely drink or eat there. The rooms are located further back, so you don’t hear much from the pub while in your room. We chose this hotel because of its location, it’s right on the main street with many shops around, a supermarket just across the road, and the bus stops right at the door. I would, and will, definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you for the great stay!

Crathes, BanchoryGreat wee café serving coffees, teas, snacks, soups and sandwiches. Cosy inside on a cold day. Nice and sheltered outside or a nicer day or if your wrapped up well. Friendly and fast service.
Hours are seasonal and different from the Castle opening times.

Shakes 'n' Cakes @ The Nile
3 Dee St, BanchoryWho ever serves you it's always a warm welcome and great service. Had not had a kebab for over 2 years before having one from here and we were not disappointed ! Def going on a regular basis now even though its 23 mile away. Keep it up !

Restaurant at The Lodge
Dee St, BanchoryBanchory Lodge was the perfect venue for my best friend’s wedding — stunning setting, lovely rooms, and a fantastic atmosphere throughout. The staff were brilliant and the bar selection was spot on. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend! David and his team really looked after us all very well.

4 Watson St, BanchoryWe were staying at the campsite and were given a leaflet on arrival advertising the delivery service. It was too good an opportunity to pass up for Good Friday, so we ordered and you delivered. Great service, lovely piping hot food which we greatly enjoyed. We ordered for 7pm and you were just 2 minutes after that, spot on. Thank you!
