“The food was delicious. They do a wonderful addressing the haggis, and the performances they did were great. We went with a tour group and had the restaurant to ourselves so I’m not sure if the performances are an every day opportunity but if you have the chance to listen to the live music and see the dancer and the bagpipe player it’s well worth it. Great experience and the staff was lovely.”

“I went for a meal with my husband on Saturday evening. We were greeted as soon as we entered the pub and were served by the outstanding Zoe! She made sure we had a drink all evening, gave us some great recommendations for food and had excellent banter. She was welcoming & polite and is a credit to the pub. 10/10 from Zoe!”

“A dear friend of mine passed away recently. His widow booked this venue for the wake, allowing mourners to share a meal and a drink or two in his memory. The staff were very respectful and appropriately dressed. A buffet lunch was prepared in advance of our arrival, and the food was brought straight to our reserved seating immediately when the guests arrived. There were other diners in the restaurant, and I thought it was a nice touch that we had been seated apart from the other guests, allowing our party to share memories of the departed, and allowing the diners to enjoy their meal without distracting our sombre occasion. We were seated by the large windows, giving us plenty of light without being too bright; if there is one criticism I would make about the venue, it is that the restaurant is quite dim in the areas away from the windows, which are only along one wall. The venue has a large function suite adjacent to the hotel & restaurant, which can be used for larger occasions—the dear departed and his window had held their wedding reception at this venue. It boasts a reasonably sized wooden floor suitable for dancing and would comfortably cater for several dancing couples. The hotel is quite small, with just five or six rooms, and booking in advance of your arrival would be advisable, especially at weekends. That said, I have always been able to reserve a room on the same day as my visit. The rooms have always been immaculate and as clean as one would expect. All rooms have en suite bathroom and bathing facilities, with both bath and power-shower.Each room has a television with remote control, as well as a kettle with a selection of complimentary teas and coffee.Breakfast is included in the price of your room and is served until 9.30 am in the restaurant. The hotel is situated a few minutes walking distance from Bathgate train station, with regular services into Edinburgh, making this an excellent place to stay after a night out in Edinburgh City centre.Excellent value for money, especially since breakfast is included, you'd be hard pushed to find a cheaper alternative.”
