We had an enjoyable stay over new years. Nice and cosy place with comfortable rooms. The food was ok but not fab, and sadly they didn’t take cash, only for tips. Overall a good stay in a great location

We only went to the restaurant for a meal, so I can't comment on the rooms here. However the meal we had was excellent, with a wide range of choices on the menu. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The place was cosy and we enjoyed our meal there. I would recommend this place if you are passing.

Great place to stop off even if your just passing through.Good beers on tap and owner is friendly to chat to.There is a restaurant as well with plenty seating.Recommended! There's also a river walk at the back of the hotel if your so inclined.

We went here for some lunch as we arrived a bit early for check in. The attitude from walking in the door was disgusting the manager a unkempt/unclean grey bearded man went on about his day and how inconvenient it was to him that there was a car show and bikers in the area and they made him late for work and that it meant he would have a busy day ahead due to them being in the area we ordered some drinks and were abruptly told it was card only (we were paying with card and could have been advised a bit politer/nicer and we can read -the many signs posted on the bar) we went to restaurant and were advised to wait to be seated in the empty room the young polite girl asked us to pick a seat we chose and had a look at the menusThe menu looked good but the manager asked us to change table and after this reminded us it was card only we ordered to be told that it wasn’t available and reissued a menu we declined and we’re sitting with our drinks we were asked to leave the restaurant to the lounge or garden as we wouldn’t be eating with them (the room was empty we would have been there long )I’m glad to say we will not be back nor did we stay the nightRooms: We didn’t stay for lunch I didn’t feel comfortable after the altercation in the restaurantFood & drinks: The drinks were nice but not a pleasant experienceDidn’t order the food as manager was disrespectfulNoteworthy details: Manger should be replaced he creates a bad atmosphere in a fine looking hotel

Received a very warm welcome from Struan (hope I spelt that right). He made us and our dog feel very welcome, as did Gareth. Room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and quiet. Great games Room and lovely beer garden. Good riverside/wooded walk right by the hotel. Highly recomend.Rooms: Very clean and comfortable

Myself and my wife walked out of this place after an encounter with the most rudest member of staff I have ever met in hospitality this unkempt bearded chap had a terrible attitude and made us feel so unwelcome we intended to have a nice meal and our whole day was tainted after visiting this place a shame as the place looked

Beautiful location and views; really lovely, clean, practical and well thoughout bedrooms.Food was delicious and fresh, and the lounge for staying guests was comfortable and spacious. The staff were thoughtful and obliging, and the manager is most definitely the star of the show. He's not only has the most fabulous dry humour, he is also a mine of information. He puts tourist information to shame.Loved our two night stay, and will most certainly be back again.Only niggle is, its a cash free establishment.Rooms: Beautiful, clean, well presented. Shower had a good pressure and good temperature.Nearby activities: So much to do and see. Ask the manager for suggestions and you can't go wrong.Food & drinks: Delicious and fresh, and served by the loveliest of attentive staff.

This was a surprise getaway for a couple of nights organised by my partner for my birthday, The photos on here aren’t what we saw.. the carpet was greyish brown and dirty, the stairs were a trip hazard as narrow and seemed to slant forward. Bedroom was small and basic, and I dread to think what was on our curtains. Noisy through the night from drains toilets flushing.. Breakfast was average, or is that expensive for the price! The lady who served us the first morning was lovely and friendly On the second morning we made the mistake by going down for breakfast 10 mins early and was told abruptly by some blonde woman that they don’t start serving until 8.30 am! Looked at her watch then carried on talking to her colleague..my bad for good time management. Was it worth the wait, NO!! poached egg was more hard boiled for both me and my partner, and again for both of us the potato scone was rock solid, the microwave must have been in overdrive. We went out for a beautiful meal near one of the lochs for my bday evening, but as we had to drive we decided to have a couple of drinks at the hotel, hmm yup, 9.30 pm and was told the bar was closed.. WTA# .. On a positive note, the weather was better than in Yorkshire.

What sort of Hotel does not accept cash, also would not split the bill until we asked for 6 individual tables. Food was ok but not worth the money. The rooms were very very dated, highly doubtful if we would stay again, no one there for checking out.

After dropping earlier for a drink we booked a table for an evening meal. Beautiful setting, beautiful little hotel and the staff seemed nice (altgough there was some muttering between each other about the booking which is unprofessional in front of customers but hey ho, maybe theyre just busy so didnt mention it) I was expecting a lovely meal but what was presented was so disappointing. Plentiful yes but the quality was extremely poor. All seemed to have been boiled, steak was bordering on criminal. Someone needs to look at quality control as I'd be embarrassed serving that to friends nevermind paying customers. They genuinely seemed shocked and I cant beleive the reviews saying food was amazing. Really poor.

Great hotel, excellent staff...a slightly weird set up in that you can't split a bill for a meal with friends, every transaction has to be done by card....and unless you have the full breakfast (which I didn't want) you can't get a coffee or continental breakfast...very strange. But overall a good placeRooms: Clean and functionalFood & drinks: The menu is slightly more bullish about the provenance of the food than the reality....but everything was perfectly edible

A warm welcome was given by all the staff, who were attentive and helpful without exception. The hotel is very dog friendly, with water bowls, biscuits and a sausage for breakfast! There is a separate eating area for guests with dogs so we felt comfortable and able to relax. Very clean rooms, comfy beds. Good food and drink, Cullen skink was delicious and all main meals and puddings were great. We had a very enjoyable stay and we were also given a recommendation for a dog walk in the area which had the most beautiful bluebell woods I’ve seen.
