Had a suprise 40th birthday dinner here the staff had decorated the table and area for me and even hand written a birthday card from all the staff.The food and service was fantastic, everyone really enjoyed it.

Food is good. I’d give it 5 stars but the menu is pretty much the same as when it opened. Could do with a change.Vegetarian options: Clearly labelled vegetarian mac n cheese, but if you don’t ask for it to be vegetarian, it comes with bacon which is a bit confusing.

Beetroot is a wee gem you might not expect to find given its location.The atmosphere and decor are great - the only thing I can criticise are the booths. The benches are incredibly close to the tables so there's not enough room to reeeaaaally comfy.Service top notch. Our server was Alison and she was a star. She honestly couldn't have been more lovely, helpful or cheery.Our food was delicious... burgers with spicy haggis were incredibly yummy. Would definitely recommend this option. The hot chocolate was also wonderful.100% recommend a visit to Beetroot.

After hanging up the phone after booking here I had a good feeling about the service from the off due to the demeanour of the lovely young man Kyle who took my call. He asked if I had a table preference, any allergies and if there was anything else he could help me with regarding my booking. I only had to say my name, date and time of booking once too. Quite rare these days when booking over the phone. I wasn’t wrong, the service was amazing from the moment we stepped inside. We didn’t have to grab anyone’s attention and they weren’t overly hovering. As an ex chef I was blown away with the price, size and quality of the food. It really was so unexpected. We ordered the trio of desserts as we couldn’t decide what to go for and boy they were good. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it was the best dessert I’ve had in a restaurant for over 3 years!!! We had a bottle of red wine. A pint, an espresso martini, garlic flat bread, hunters chicken, steak pie and the trio of desserts and our total bill was £80. I was so impressed. I can’t wait to go back.

Me and my husband having been coming here once a week for about two years now. The food is amazing and the staff cannot do more for you and are so friendly and genuine. You never wait long to be served or for foot to arrive and they are happy to alter meals if their are parts you don't like. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are spot on with a great range of choice for each. They are really accommodating for big groups too. My absolute favourite place to eat in Midlothian. Can't speak highly enough of them.
