Took my family here for dinner for the first time after hearing it was now under new ownership - firstly the Christmas decorations were fantastic - I have to say I used to depend on the Coca Cola truck to tell me Christmas has started - well now it’s The Ship - we had the pleasure of being served by the manager who was lovely and very accommodating towards the kids! The food - well we all had different but I have to say the garlic prawn are what won it for me! I will say though all food was wonderful and the portions were brilliant. Will 100% be returning (without the car so I can have a wee drink) but honestly a wonderful experience all around and 110% recommend.

Disappointed ☹️. Visited this evening for husbands birthday and it was awful . Have visited the restaurant on several occasions previously, unfortunately the food was pub grub , poorly presented and not very appetising and very overpriced for what it was. We won’t be back and not value for money .

We have been regulars at The Ship since it was a pub many years ago and when it transitioned to a restaurant it became one of our family favourites with many birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations being held in the function room. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last. We are aware that things don’t remain the same when new proprietors take over but you at least expect the same standards and value as before. Sadly the restaurant was lacking in atmosphere and wasn’t busy at all, it was also really cold inside and heard others mentioning this as well. The menu was somewhat strange and not good value for money (previously a fillet steak would come on a large oval plate with onion rings, mushrooms, salad and chips. On our recent visit it came on a much smaller round plate with 2 slices of tomato and some chips. The price was still over £30. Also worth a mention is there is no longer lighting outside at the rear smoking / garden area so it’s pitch black when going down the couple of steps etc. (and dangerous for my elderly dad). Perhaps things will improve going forward but we are not willing to take that chance again - particularly as we were dining there to celebrate a special occasion. Give it a try at your peril (if you can actually get hold of someone as they are only open 2 days a week and don’t answer the phone. If you’re lucky they will phone you back 5 days or so later (by which time you will hopefully have booked somewhere else!)

I was very fortunate to be brought to the Ship Restaurant to celebrate my 70th birthday. What a delightful evening, great food, equally good service from charming staff, an overall great night. Thank you.

Saturday 4th November, a tremendous XXth birthday party with 29 friends and family enjoying excellent food and perfect service. This helped provide a wonderful and relaxed atmosphere for the evening. All guests were delighted with their experience.

New to the area we visited the restuarant after a recommendation. The first course was good.Unfortunately for mains both the steaks were a disaster. They were dry and tasteless. The quality of the meat was poor. I had a steak rossini. It did not look or taste anything like a steak rossini. This was taken of the bill.To be fair everything else was excellent. The drinks were reasonably priced. The staff were really friendly and did try hard to please. I would go back as they were so nice.
