We were staying overnight at the Ibis Budget next door and ate at this pub for convenience, not expecting a particularly good meal given that it’s a chain pub. We were very pleasantly surprised by well-prepared food which did not appear to have come from a freezer. Don’t take this as being damned with faint praise! It really was good with a chef who does know what medium rare means and some unusual dishes like kedgeree fish cakes which my wife says were really nice. Also, they had Doom Bar beer on tap! Staff were friendly and helpful and the manager took the time to have a chat.

The food was lovely, made by Tam and Ryan, I had the fish and chips and it was delicious. The service was perfect also, Rachel and Alan gave me a cheery welcome and it was overall a good atmosphere, I felt happy and comfortable during my time here.

Really good food. Menu is a good selection with enough choice to have you swithering over what to pick but isn't multiple pages of choice. Staff are attentive without being distracting. Definitely coming back for more.

We ordered pan fried scallops and king prawns, brown mushroom as starter, main beef ribs with miso butter, pork belly, seabass, and desserts. Starters and mains in general very tasty. If the scallops and plans can be of a larger size could be perfect. Beef ribs juicy, pork belly extraordinary, sea bass skin is very crispy. There are many choices for desserts, not just only have toffee pudding like many other restaurants in Scotland did, and they also serve mini sized desserts with hot drinks, which we considered as a brilliant idea especially when we are so full after Mains. Very comfortable environment, staff serving us are nice.

I've eaten here a few times. The owner is so polite and the staff are lovely and attentive. The food is fantastic, well worth leaving room for their lovely desserts. We will definitely be back.

Been here a few times recently. The food is pretty good. The drinks are okay. Service is great, especially Danny. My only gripe is that they're out of all sorts of things all the time. Food, beer, drinks - tons of stuff out of stock. Simplify the menu or reduce the drinks on offer.

My daughter took me there for a Father's Day meal and the food and service was 1st class. I almost needed to be rolled out as stuffed. My only gripe was it would have been nice to have a 2 course option on the Father's Day menu but food tasted beautiful.

Our visit was very pleasant, helped particularly by the staff (Rachel, Danny & Alan). There was a slight issue with one of our starters being a bit cold, but other than that the food was fine. We ordered a starter & couple of side dishes to make up a vegetarian meal, which was no issue, and served as a complete meal, which was appreciated.

We visited the Red Deer for the first time last night. We were given a warm welcome by all staff. The food was fine, and the staff (Rachel & Danny), were very pleasant and accomodating. I ordered a starter and some sides to make up a vegetarian main meal, which was no issue and served on one plate which was appreciated (this may seem a small thing, but you'd be amazed how many restaurants won't deviate from 'the menu'). The prices are fairly standard for a family pub, and there's plenty of parking. We'd definitely consider returning, especially when the weather's better and we can make use of the outside seating.

We have been there on previous occasions. Partly to meet a friend who lives locally. We arrived about 18.30hrs on a Wednesday. We had pre booked by phone. The staff were very good & Danny took our food & drinks order. The bar/restaurant was not busy. The food was the normal good quality & quantity we have come to expect. We spend a pleasant couple hours there.

Visited with friends yesterday early evening, the food, presentation, service and atmosphere was excellent. I choose the Duo of Lamb and it was cooked to perfection and was delicious. Thanks to Ben, Alan & Danny for the warm welcome too.
