Food is okay but the owner is on a power trip I think. Never met anyone as ignorant and arrogant in all my life. What a horrible excuse of a man that is!

Parked on balmoral road outside the chippy tonight, the road is a residential street, there are no parking restrictions. I was visiting the excellent Bruno’s restaurant, it is adjacent to the chip shop, I was parked for 1 hour. The owner has put three large signs outside his chippy (see photos) I was shouted at when I parked there, on returning to my car a sign was put on my window (see photos). I ignored the owner, ignored the sign, sat in my car then two men from the chippy came to my car, one of them knocked on my window a few times, I ignored him. I looked into the chip shop when they walked away, two girls behind the counter were laughing. Thanks for intimidating two women, great business etiquette. Warning to people who park in this street you maybe be approached by this man. The police were phoned.Parking: Apparently the owner owns the street and is a part time parking attendant

Very expensive !!! " fish supper" , Chips not bad, batter on fish was greasy not crisp , not sure what kind of fish it was, cod i don't think so ! , haddock , pollock , hake , halibut ??? could even have been basa ?? should say what fish is being served and a choice like other better chip shops , you can choose what fish you want, and a load of kids outside the front of shop making a fool of themselves , not good .

I had been away all day and arrived back in Dumfries feeling that what I needed was a nice fish supper to revive me. What a disappointment! It was almost cold. The chips looked as though they had been sitting in the box for some time and were sticking together. The batter was soggy and certainly not light and crisp. If I hadn't been so tired and hungry I would have put the lid back on the box and taken it back!

If I could give it 10 stars I would!Brilliant Chippy, Great Service and Interior, even though it was expensive, you get your moneys worth out of it!My Hamburger Supper was absolutely delicious, Chips were perfect, cooked perfectly, you can tell by the grease! Wasn’t that much grease aswell. But still you could tell by it, But the Hamburger was the game changer! The burger just melts in your mouth, Brilliant taste!I would definitely go again!Parking: Couple of spots, not alot, and you get a short time to park there.

Best Fish and Chips by a mile. So easy to order online and the pick up was bang on schedule. Piping hot, delicious food, and the chips are to die for! ???

Garbage now compared to the past!Used to use it at lunchtimes during school at DFS High... then used it for occasional treat now and then... visited last time up in dumfries and was hugely disappointed.Chips undercooked and manky, portion sizes were insulting and to cap it all off, prices were obscene!!Avoid.

Chips were very enjoyable, but interaction was a little strange…All was well until I asked politely (as the chips were being put in the boxes) whether they came with salt and vinegar or if I should do this myself. All chip shops have different ways of doing things so I thought this the best thing to do. The gentleman behind the counter stared underneath the counter (solid/metal and no way to see through it), and said ‘you’re not allowed to touch the dishes’, then went back to sorting my chips. I was a little confused, trying to work out what he meant. He was staring at his side of the counter (customers Obvs can’t see behind this), and I later realised he was looking at the salt and pepper under his side of the counter. Initially I was trying to work out if he meant I couldn’t touch the chips themselves or the salt/pepper shakers (which I had no idea were there given my lack of X Ray vision). I also didn’t know what he was staring at..’Dish’ is a rather ambivalent word in this case. When I looked confused he said ‘it’s the same for everyone’, meaning the rules are the same for everyone. I then realised (once the other staff member got out the salt and pepper so I could see them) that this was probably a covid measure, which is great! I’m all for hygiene. So I just said ‘no that’s fine, I just didn’t understand’. He was friendly when I left and said thank you, but it was a little deflating to be treated like I wasn’t ok with simple rules that simply were in no way made clear to me. Surely when someone asks you ‘does it come with salt and vinegar or should I do it myself?’ The logical response is ‘we do it for you’, or similar? Just a bit weird and illogical! Ah well. Good chips, recommend them.
