Most fantastic food. Staff so friendly and happy to talk about the food and history of the place. Will recomend to everyone I know, and some I don't. We will be back.

The Back Street

My son and I were served very well, even outstandingly. Our waitress was smiling and I didn't have to wait long for absolutely nothing. The cook is a true master. I ate an outstanding steak. My palate experienced an orgasm of wonderful flavours. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely return here on my next trip to Scotland. Thank you

The Usual Place

I met someone here for a meeting. Spacious, great service and good menu with many dietary options including Vegan, gluten free and vegetarian. The scones and cakes are awesome.

Casa Mia Dumfries

Excellent food, great service, reasonably priced, pleasant atmosphere and beautiful decor.Parking: Plenty of parking on site, and good surface and step-free between car park and entrance.

Mrs Greens Tea Lounge

Beautiful cafe tucked in the corner of bustling Dumfries. If you are looking for a lively yet peaceful place pop in for a coffee or some delicious local food, this is the spot to consider. I got the pulled pork ciabatta with a side of salad. Would recommend.

Levantine - Syrian Cuisine

What a great restaurant. They've been here for over 3 years but only just found them. Lovely family chicken recipe. I can't believe the freshness of the baba ganoush - honestly, if you've only tried supermarket, you have no idea! Great meals all round :-). Everything just soooo fresh :-)Shame the pitta breads are only white, maybe unprocessed in future?Vegetarian options: Who can say anything could be better with this diet? Hummus, baba ganoush, falafels, halloumi :-)Parking: Easy out of hours.

Abbey Cottage Tearoom

Pleasant tea rooms right next to the Abbey ruins. Run independently and open at times when the Abbey's closed. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and also a small gift shop too.We stopped here for lunch after climbing Criffel. It was a midweek lunch time and so fairly quiet. We were served quickly by friendly staff and the food was good.We had home made soup of the day (courgette and carrot), which was particularly delicious and served with very tasty seeded bread, and a vegetarian haggis panini. We had a freshly made lime and coconut scone afterwards which had good flavour but could have done with a better rise.Overall a pleasant tea rooms and gift shop with friendly service and tasty food.

Pizzeria Il Fiume

We came here twice during our visit to Dumfries and I'm glad we did!First, we tried a different Italian restaurant which turned us away saying they had no tables despite there being plenty of empty tables, and so we came here instead.The restaurant did not disappoint. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is authentic and delicious, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. A big, special thank you to Rachel for being so fab!We will definitely be coming back here the next time we are in Dumfries, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Pepe's

It is one of the few places in Dumfries which does paneer dishes and I really appreciate that. They have great vegetarian options and at somewhat affordable prices. Staff can be occasionally moody but overall amazing experience.

YUMMY

Just now popped in with kids after the fair. My first time there and first time actually sitting in a take away shop. Was pleasantly surprised. The place is very clean,the staff very polite,service superb, prices that don't bite and the pizzas were absolutely to die for! Delicious,fresh. Yummy! Will definitely be back or at least order a delivery. Now I know at least one place in Dumfries that makes delicious food. Thank you,guys!

Yamas Deli

I came in with my dad few days ago and asked for a mini meze which wasn't exactly on the menu but Nick the owner was more than happy to cater for us and made us an amazing arrangement of meat, dips, olives etc. We were genuinely blown away by the quality of the food and how friendly Nick was to us. I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend it.

Daksh Indian Restaurant

Superb food and service. A real gem of a restaurant tucked almost out of sight in a side street off the main centre of the town. Very warm greeting on arrival and frequent checks that we were happy with our food. I particularly enjoyed my lamb biriani that was cooked in an authentic style in a dough sealed pot. Highly recommended and will return when next in Dumfries.

N'Dulge

We came with some friends and the children prior to the Christmas light switch on. It took an hour from us arriving to getting our food so sadly the children missed the switch on. The food was good though, and the kids eating free was a bonus. Service time was the only let down.

The Jolly Harvester

One of my favourite places to eat (and drink ?) the food is amazing. lovely atmosphere, great staff and so welcoming for the kids. Put on brilliant family fun days in the beer garden through the summer months and live singers some weekends which is fab . Defo worth a visit if you haven't been. All my family love it here.

Bankend Bar & Brasserie

My fiancé and I were here last night for a meal. We both had 3 courses and everything was delicious. Order was taken quickly and food came out in good time also. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

Chili flames is recently under new management and I must say its amazing. The service we received tonight was nothing but lovely. The staff were so helpful and patient with my questions. I'd had this place a few times before the new management and the food was OK, but its SO SO good now. The loaded Mexicana fries were amazing, well cooked fries and great rice and chicken (I got the lemon and herb cuz I can't handle spice, but the husband loved the hot spice on his chicken burger). Will definitely be making this our monthly take out.

The Taste of Bengal

Delicious food - especially the chicken chaat. The special for two was an absolute steal at £20 and was ready in twenty five minutes. Really pleasant staff. Highly recommend.

Bruno's Italian Restaurant

Never had a bad time at Bruno's!Staff are always extremely polite and professional, no matter what you order the food is always amazing !We were lucky enough to have gone when they had Cacio e pepe as a special and it was fantastic! Impossible to find anywhere outside of Rome !Panzenelle as a starter will never fail and is always a good portion!10/10

Lovely wee cafe in Dumfries. Great atmosphere, staff are really friendly and the food is great. I tried their beetroot latte for the first time and it was pretty good!

Pumpernickel

Popped in for a bit of lunch today as the place had been recommended to us from the scottish country dance scene! The owner recognised us from being at one of the places he played in. The lunch was very good. Husband having fruit scone and a latte and self a cheese and tomatoe panini.Both very tasty. Would highly recommend it.

The Lantern

What a lovely welcoming pub. The decor is lovely feels like a proper pub, but mainly more impressed by the warm and friendly service from the land lady on Christmas Eve. I reckon more pubs would be busier if they had this level of customer service. A visitor to Dumfries regularly so we will definitely be back.The world ? is a strange place at the moment and I love the caring ethos of this pub. i hope Christmas day goes well for you and you have lovely time.

Moon and star cafe

This is a lovely place.We visited on a Saturday afternoon.The staff are friendly and helpful.The menu is basic but they do have decaf drinks which is great.We both had hot rolls,one with bacon and sausage and the other was fried egg and potato scone.The reason I didn't give 5 stars was that my potato scone was overcooked and tough.The prices are very reasonable and i will visit again.

Troqueer Arms

Was in Dumfries Troqueer Arms for the SKALLOWEEN weekend, we had a hearty welcome, great range of beers and will be back.Here is a photo of a friend holing my nuts too!

Coach & Horses Inn

We went in here as there is sometimes a band playing. There wasn't one on. It didn't dampen the spirits, though. Great atmosphere and good music from jukebox. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the service was quick. Great place to go on a Sunday evening for a drink.

Hole I' The Wa' Inn

What a gaff. Rocking n popping the second you go in. Karaoke blasting, MCs trying to spit 64 bars, fights going off, chairs getting thrown. Cheap bevs, sick all over the toilet. Would go back any day of the

Really liked this little pub, staff and customers where very nice and friendly and helpful when asking about the area. Would recommend the beer is good and at very reasonable prices.

The Normandy

Excellent pub with a first class staff and proprietor. Great homely and welcoming atmosphere. My favourite place to chill with a bevvy (or six). Never had a bad experience or bad pint here as far as I can recall.

Cafe Piccolo

I drop into this little gem on the occasional Sunday for a very nice breakfast,that is always cooked fresh,and is always piping hot. I love the fact that it is one of the few places that serve fried bread with your fry up,it's always been a favourite of mine.The coffee is one of the nicest I've tasted in the town. Service is always very efficient,and the atmosphere is always very pleasant. This is a family run cafe,and the owners are always willing to strike up a conversation with you.I would not hesitate to recommend this very good little cafe to friends and family

The Imperial

Found this gem of a restaurant on a very wet Monday lunchtime. A very warm welcome from the owner, cannot understand why the restaurant was empty. Ordered from the three course set lunch menu, which was very reasonably priced at £8.95 each I believe. Portion sizes were spot on for both of us. Husband ordered The Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Chow Mein & Banana Fritter, I ordered the Vegetable Spring Roll, The chicken in Satay sauce with Peanuts & the Banana Fritter. Everything was fresh, very hot & tasty. Restaurant & bathrooms very clean. Will definitely eat here again & strongly recommended.

Called in today for the first time, 3 lovely ladies there, we ordered a hot sandwich, and a cold one for the journey. I had to grab some home made cake too.The sandwiches were packed full, absolutely delicious and the coffee too..I would highly recommend calling in, and for what you get, they should charge more. A great deal for a great meal.Thank you ladies

Granary

We attended on bingo night (we were not aware as we aren’t local) & the friendly barman managed to find us a table for food in the packed out bar.The food service was quick, the food was tasty & a complete bargain!Only downside was a poorly poured Guinness but overall a positive experience :)

Rico's Tuck Shop

Fantastic service food is hot and delicious. The staff are brilliant great service. Family run business much better than branded well done ricos. Here's to more deliveries in the new year
