I’m 53 so I have had plenty of meals in my lifetime and I can easily say that this was the beautiful meal I have ever had- taste, aesthetics, presentation - everything. We had the set menu (5 courses). Omg! I nearly died! It was £45 for the most divine meal I have ever had. The presentation was more like art than food. It felt wanton to actually eat it when so much effort was put into creating the look of the food. The tastes were celestial!
We are only here in Dumfries for the weekend but we are thinking about going again today for another lunch- it was that good. If this was in London, I think they might have charged around £300 per person. Absolutely outstanding!

The Usual Place

I came to the cafe today about 10 mins before food service stopped, being the end of the day a few things where sold out. But the people working there happily accommodated me at the last minute. Luckily they hadn't switched the fryer off so they made me a sandwich and chips. The staff where lovely and helpful... I'm a bit far away but if passing will call by again. Thanks for feeding me I hadn't eaten for 7 hours ?

Wheelchair accessibility: There are powered doors and it is all ground level with no steps as I recall.

The Back Street

Excellent food veg amazing as was pork and deep fried brie with beetrootand presentation great staff bit chilly when we arrived but a new heater was provided . Defo recommend to friends

Mrs Greens Tea Lounge

Lovely place, one of the best falafel sandwiches I've ever had. Coffee was also great, I don't normally drink it a lot but had to order another cappuccino after the first. The staff were welcoming, good atmosphere.

Abbey Cottage Tearoom

We called and had light refreshments with you. Lovely pleasant service, and the best pot of Earl Grey tea we've had for a while! Thank you.

Just now popped in with kids after the fair. My first time there and first time actually sitting in a take away shop. Was pleasantly surprised. The place is very clean,the staff very polite,service superb, prices that don't bite and the pizzas were absolutely to die for! Delicious,fresh. Yummy! Will definitely be back or at least order a delivery. Now I know at least one place in Dumfries that makes delicious food. Thank you,guys!

Discovering Yamas Deli is like reliving your first love in your school years.

As soon as you have a bite, you are hooked forever and you will find yourself reminiscing on some Yamas Deli nostalgia whilst sipping a pint on a sunny afternoon, wishing you were living those moments again.

I've ordered from this place more than 50 times in the last 8 months, I am not joking, I've tried every single item in the menu really and there is nothing to go wrong on, this place has it all, its a perfect 10, the ferrari/supermodel of takeaways:

- Cheap affordable prices;
- Big and some MASSIVE portions even on the cheaper items;
- Everything tastes FRESH and AUTHENTIC;
- They never refuse a reasonable request, chilli sauce or replacing the bread with extra meat, NO PROBLEM FOR YAMAS!
- The service is insanely consistent, you know you are getting gold every time you order.

I heavily recommend any of the salads, featuring fresh kalamata olives and dressings OR the Lamb Box, with a delightful combination of salad, juicy lamb meat and fresh chips/bread.

If Yamas Deli was a woman, I'd ask her to marry me right now.

The Jolly Harvester

Great service, really friendly at the bbq on easter Sunday! brought chairs over as we were sitting on the grass, felt so welcomed and the kids enjoyed the bouncy castles and park, thanks again. Will definitely be back regularly

Dietary restrictions: Just ask, they are able to advise or just leave out a sauce if you can't eat it.

Parking: Small car park right outside with the White Sands parking across the road, plenty in other words.

Wheelchair accessibility: Several steep steps in the doorway, can't be helped though as this area floods regularly and these provide a small amount of protection for the business

My fiancé and I were here last night for a meal. We both had 3 courses and everything was delicious. Order was taken quickly and food came out in good time also. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

N'Dulge

We came with some friends and the children prior to the Christmas light switch on. It took an hour from us arriving to getting our food so sadly the children missed the switch on. The food was good though, and the kids eating free was a bonus. Service time was the only let down.

Really happy to see a halal fast food restaurant here. The portions n quality were good! Their staff were kind n helpful. I wanted to use to the toilet but didn’t have toilet roll so mentioned to one of their staff (think her name is Uruj) n she cleaned the whole place!!! I wld recommend this place for muslims traveller to try.

Daksh Indian Restaurant

Superb food and service. A real gem of a restaurant tucked almost out of sight in a side street off the main centre of the town. Very warm greeting on arrival and frequent checks that we were happy with our food. I particularly enjoyed my lamb biriani that was cooked in an authentic style in a dough sealed pot. Highly recommended and will return when next in Dumfries.

Granary

I love this place, the Wednesday pubquiz is the best ? I was very sad to find out though that the vegetarian chili is no longer on the menu, that was such a cracking dish! Not so many veg options otherwise..!

The Boathouse Restaurant & Shop

Worth a trip out of Dumfries to this very good bistro restaurant. We stopped for coffee and cakes and loved it. Fabulous views of the river, free car parking and it's easy to get to.

This was honestly the best takeaway I’ve had in years. The food is really fresh and authentic, and they have a really in depth menu. The owners are so lovely too, I will definitely make this a regular stop!Note: order direct with restaurant because Deliveroo and Uber don’t have enough drivers and are unreliable. Much better to phone them or go in store.Vegetarian options: You can choose quorn for a lot of their dishes! Also so many options for vegetarians, they are so accommodating!Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options, just phone them up and ask if you’re unsure.

The Taste of Bengal

Delicious food - especially the chicken chaat. The special for two was an absolute steal at £20 and was ready in twenty five minutes. Really pleasant staff. Highly recommend.

Benvenuto Takeaway

As a family of 5, 4 of which have coeliac disease, we ordered from here when staying in Dumfries. Absolutely delicious gluten free pizza, best we've tasted so far. Ignore the bad reviews, we ordered online and collected 15 mins later, brilliant service!! Will definitely visit again if we come back to Dumfries.

Been there many times before to get two main meal for 11 pounds and 99 penny.It use to be two meal for 10 pounds before the pandemic.The portions are in a good size.Good and fast service.

Excellent, well presented food, friendly, professional service in characterful surroundings - recommend for special nights out ( and Robert Burns fans!). Well done, Annandale Distillery for taking on this historic Dumfries inn.

Douglas Arms

Great wee pub, always has some interesting ales on as well as the usual. Live music some nights. Couple if seats outside if the sun is shining. Staff always make you feel welcome.

The Ship Inn

A smallish pub but the beer was very good - two real ales on hand pull and two craft beers on keg and well priced.
The lady behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in Dumfries.

The Lantern

What a lovely welcoming pub. The decor is lovely feels like a proper pub, but mainly more impressed by the warm and friendly service from the land lady on Christmas Eve. I reckon more pubs would be busier if they had this level of customer service. A visitor to Dumfries regularly so we will definitely be back.The world ? is a strange place at the moment and I love the caring ethos of this pub. i hope Christmas day goes well for you and you have lovely time.

The Barrel

Good old fashioned pub, bar staff are helpful and prices are great. We were in at the weekend and enough people to be a good atmosphere but seems like a local for older crowd. Jukebox has good selection.

Spread Eagle Inn

Excellent location if you’re going to a concert at the Hydro.Most staff were excellent and friendly. However, there’s a guy on the bar, Callum who probably shouldn’t work with people! The way he spoke to his colleagues and threw his weight around in front of a customer was ridiculous. He needs to learn professionalism and manners. All other staff were excellent.

Just had an absolutely stunning meal with my daughter for her 18th birthday and my 20yr old son. The food was amazing, service was great from the two Waiter's, lovely atmosphere in the restaurant too. Can't wait to return. Missing from the photos is the Garlic Focaccia, this was so good we ate it too quick ?

Kings Coffee and Books

Stopped for coffee and cake and the cappuccino was really nice. One of the nicest in a long time, the raspberry/almond slice really moist. The food which was being brought out looked very nice.

Costa Coffee

No food, as no GF options. A very welcome iced coffee, nice coffee, but I often find there is too much syrup added. It's not consistent though

Dietary restrictions: Need more GF options, especially savoury. Why can't you offer a GF bacon or sausage rolls? I can assure you that as long as they stayed wrapped they'd be very popular. You could also offer Gf salads, not just pasta ones. Caesar salad, croutons in a sealed bag would work well.

KFC Dumfries - Cuckoo Bridge Retail Park

Our server was utterly flat, appearing like every request was a hassle, no thanks or even a hint of a smile, I felt really uneasy and wanted to leave, but I'd paid already, I will not be back to this store, terrible way to be in a customer service roll.

McDonald's

Pretty good service pleasant staff to say it was very early. Did get my order slightly wrong but not the end of the world for me but then I have no allergies so be warned. A local crack head did some entertaining so that made up for the mistake. Worth a visit if your heading that way.

Pumpernickel

The true meaning of a hidden gem!
The food is INSANELY good. Super fresh super tasteful. We got two soups that came with great bread, noodles, dumplings, a curry and some fried rice. All were exceptional indeed! The gentleman who runs things is super kind and professional. We felt really good ❤️

Moon and star cafe

Visited here the other week and was lovely. Airy atmosphere, extremely friendly staff and amazing value for money. The food was really good quality and the portion sizes were just enough! Will be visiting again.

The Imperial

Found this gem of a restaurant on a very wet Monday lunchtime. A very warm welcome from the owner, cannot understand why the restaurant was empty. Ordered from the three course set lunch menu, which was very reasonably priced at £8.95 each I believe. Portion sizes were spot on for both of us. Husband ordered The Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Chow Mein & Banana Fritter, I ordered the Vegetable Spring Roll, The chicken in Satay sauce with Peanuts & the Banana Fritter. Everything was fresh, very hot & tasty. Restaurant & bathrooms very clean. Will definitely eat here again & strongly recommended.

Coach & Horses Inn

We went in here as there is sometimes a band playing. There wasn't one on. It didn't dampen the spirits, though. Great atmosphere and good music from jukebox. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the service was quick. Great place to go on a Sunday evening for a drink.

Over here in Dumfries for Golf weekend & barmaid in Holiday Inn recommend this bar , Star Wars canteen comes to mind HOWEVER the 4 of us really enjoyed it as the place full of characters who made us feel welcome the place was jumping early & we returned later & it was bouncing!! Decent pint & quick service ????

Excellent pub with a first class staff and proprietor. Great homely and welcoming atmosphere. My favourite place to chill with a bevvy (or six). Never had a bad experience or bad pint here as far as I can recall.

I drop into this little gem on the occasional Sunday for a very nice breakfast,that is always cooked fresh,and is always piping hot. I love the fact that it is one of the few places that serve fried bread with your fry up,it's always been a favourite of mine.The coffee is one of the nicest I've tasted in the town. Service is always very efficient,and the atmosphere is always very pleasant. This is a family run cafe,and the owners are always willing to strike up a conversation with you.I would not hesitate to recommend this very good little cafe to friends and family

I had to grab some home made cake too.The sandwiches were packed full, absolutely delicious and the coffee too..I would highly recommend calling in, and for what you get, they should charge more. Rico's Tuck Shop

We were in Dumfries for work on Tuesday and looking for a bite to eat, passed a lady eating a tasty looking roll so asked her where she had got it and she directed us to here. We weren't disappointed! I had a roll on lines and a roll on tattie scone and square, both really tasty. My mate had two toasties, a spicy chicken and cheese, and a coronation chicken and cheese, he said both were really good, and his bit of cake was amazing. Would deffo go back next time we are here!
