Food was some of the worst I've ever had. Had the carvery (the person serving us was absolutely amazing) but the meats were fatty and bad quality, potatoes and veg were mushy and tasteless and the gravy tasted like tesco value. Yorkshire pudding was first class though- its as if All the staff knew what they'd served us was awful as NONE of them asked us if we enjoyed our meal. Having worked in hospitality most of my working career - asking people if they enjoyed their food is kinda question 1 when you clear their plates. Beyond stunned, hope the staff and chefs receive some training.

Lovely location with cinema nearby, so many eateries all very close too. Room very modern and clean, usual Marston quality. Location is close to Motorway and Edinburgh or roads North to Aberdeen and Dundee. We will definitely stay again..

Had a lovely tasty breakfast.I had the omelette and really enjoyed it.Plenty of tea, coffee, fruit juice and toast. I normally have peppermint tea, which I couldn't find. But not a problem, had plenty of orange juice. The young girl serving was lovely and helpful, very attentive and polite. The manager was very friendly and knowledgeable when we asked some questions. We stopped coming here a while ago. Heard it was under a different management, so decided to try again. We are now booking for the carvery.Thank you for a great experience

Went here with my elderly parents for 5pm meal, Melissa met us with a friendly and professional attitude, seating us where we requested, and adjusting meal order to suit my parents requests. Very impressed with her attitude and pleased with our meals, with the chef bringing fresh roast potatoes to our table for my and my wife's carvery meal

Stayed here as was going to knockhill the next day. Room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Decided to have dinner at the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good too. Will definitely be back when going back to knockhill

Visited tonight and I feel bad for saying this but it wasn’t great. Staff were lovely but that’s the only good part. Asked for carvery, got told it stopped (didn’t get informed of this when we sat down) then got told it was on but only for what beef was left. However we chose to just order something else. Food very disappointing. Had a chicken burger which was tiny with a plate full of chips. Got promised chicken breast on the burger, nothing of the sort. Also ordered lasagne that was cold in the middle. Honestly food wasn’t great. I feel bad saying this as I used to come all the time and loved it but just really feel the food is disappointing now and not worth the trip. Staff were brilliant though, couldn’t fault them.

Booked in by my new company for last evening of induction week Walked into reception and immediate warm welcome Very efficient check in service and full explanation of facilities and meal times The room was immaculate with a very comfy bed and clean crisp linen usually only found in 4 star hotels Evening meal was very good and yep the chef can cook served as I asked for it to be cooked Good selection of drinks and exceptional value and service by all staff Such a lovely end to a long day Breakfast was also faultless and greeted again by a warm and friendly fellow northeast gentleman This place is faultless but what makes this place is the amazing staff that are a credit to the business Regards & Respect Colin Wood AIC Boilers

We. Booked a table for 3 families under one name. As each family arrived at different times, they were each shown to different tables. The urinals in the toilet were leaking and dripping all over the floor. Very smelly. The ventilation duct immediately above the carvery was covered in a buildup of dust that could fall on the food. The food was not red hot, just luke warm and eatable.

Excellent Sunday lunch. I had veggie option and hubby had meat option at carvery. Great selection and generous portions. Only complaint was that staff were talking very loudly about their personal stuff... customers are generally there to chill... maybe keep it to a inside voice level?

Service was great. Really could not fault the staffIts a nice place to eat, warm and inviting. Outside is beautiful playing music, seating area with nice lights. We found it very expensive though £71 for 2 starters, 2 sides (which was mains for 2 teenagers), 3 main meals especially as its all premade and heated up.2 pints tennant, 4 cokes and an appetiser. Worked out to be £15 each which doesnt sound bad but teenager had water with her starter and side (chips) as a "main meal" so feels very expensive.Carvery was freshly prepared and good.Went to McDonald's for a mcflurry to save a few pennies!

Despite offering a very much reduced menu, due to supply issues, our server was cheerful and helpful. Even though the place was almost empty the food took a bit of a while to be served to us.

Although short staffed every effort was made to serve us as quickly as possible. The food was up to the usual very high standard. Unfortunately, the carvery had run out of ham and pork.

I visited the Sweet chestnut with my mother in law who has cancer and has limited mobility. This is our second trip there. We booked in for two nights. Despite being short staffed due to covid isolation rules the staff on shift were excellent! They were friendly, polite and nothing was an issue for them, they made our stay fabulous and kept up updated with opening times and updates. The restaurant could not serve from main menu however they kept the carvery open and this was delicious and fresh with fresh desserts available too. There were around 3 or 4 staff in all and also chamber maids for hotel/inn. Andrew in the restaurant and Ashley were fantastic and my mother in law loved her time there as did I. there were also two other staff one of which served carvery on Sunday who was pleasant and cheery and the other staff member was on shift on Monday night was the same and made sure we had everything we needed including lovely fresh roast potatoes!. They all had smiles and were welcoming to customers coming in including us. We will back to visit again in Spring time and I hope those staff are on! They would be an asset so any staff team! Staff were very friendly and welcoming couldn’t do enough for you. Food wasn’t ready on the carvery and we were told a 15 minute wait which was fine, we’d allowed time before the cinema. Carvery was terrible though unfortunately. Meat overcooked to the point it was like dog food and with an awful after taste, reheated potatoes which tasted unlike any potato I’d had, mashed potatoes were creamy but definitely reheated the pot hadn’t even been changed from the previous service, carrots not peeled. Food had no seasoning and very little flavour. My wife ordered medium steak which was over and had been left under a warming light and continued cooking it, her food looked dry and unwelcoming. Drinks were good and fast however we were very underwhelmed and the dry mustard and condiments on offer were a disappointment at best. I wonder when they were last changed if I’m honest. The standards for such a nice modern establishment are very low and overall we were disappointed, would expect this in a Macdonalds but not when you’re getting table service we probably won’t return
