This place was closed. And no notice/explanation on their door. As it had just reopened under the wine bar ethos, as we live locally we wanted to try it.

We visited this beautiful wee gem tucked away in this pleasant suburb of Edinburgh: Newington. The lovely couple who own it ( and two sister restaurants in the city) explained they have changed their emphasis to wine by the glass or bottle with upmarket snacks from local high quality suppliers such as Iain Mellis cheese. We loved the cosy autumn into winter vibe: beautiful tasteful lighting enhanced this. They have a truly fabulous selection of wine to suit all tastes. We can’t wait to go back!

If you want to spend £10 on a medium glass of wine visit this place. There were no menus or prices any where to be seen. Ask before you buy!

We booked to come here on Sunday night and were so glad - they are shut MOndasy-Wedensdays. Welcomed from the front door, nice comforatbale and priavte seating, wide ranging menu and great food. I had scallops and slamon, and my companion had the soup (beetroot with a mild kick and delvcious) and the sprouts. An absolutely repeatable experince.

Food was good but portion size small. If you like a good portion go elsewhere.

The service is lovely, but the food is really average. The cocktail reeked of stale sparkling water and artificial flavours, the meat was very dry, and food was overall either overcooked/undercooked. Bon bons were tasty, but sadly served with basically ketchup.

Booked here as we were staying nearby. We were not disappointed! Lovely little restaurant and the food was fabulous! Different menu with things we hadn't tried before. Will definitely visit again when we're in Edinburgh.

We had the teriyaki salmon and cauliflower cakes and they were incredibly delicious as well as beautifully presented. The restaurant was also quiet and peaceful, even in the midst of the Fringe Festival.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Lovely staff too An interesting menu. We tried some new things we hadn’t had before. I had the pork shoulder and it was delicious. We also tried the pigs ears! They were tasty too!

There was not that much crowd when we went there for a brunch on a Saturday around 11am and this is strange considering how the food was good with tapas-style dishes and delicious freshly made smoothies. The lady who took care of us was pretty nice too and the cosy ambiance was perfect to have brunch.

The restaurant is relaxed and friendly. The food is beautifully cooked with a French feel to the specials whilst we ate there. Excellent Pork Rillettes followed by Confit Duck. Wines are reasonably priced also. A lovely meal.

This is my second visit to the Apiary and the food is fantastic. I am lactose intolerant and my friend needs gluten free, the server was very knowledgeable about our conditions. The restaurant caters for dietary needs without compromising on flavours. The food is an absolute treat for the taste buds, full of different flavours and a feast for the eyes with lots of gorgeous colours. Gourmet flavours at affordable prices.

Recommended by our host we decided to eat there. But as it is, many smaller restaurants suffer and can’t get suitable staff. Therefore we had to book a table for Saturday and not for Sunday as planned. We did not regret it. The quality of the food was excellent, the service very very friendly and always attentive. We enjoyed our dinner.

After being let down by another restaurant arrived as a walk in and was given a table immediately. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. Lots of choices, went with the set menu which was delicious and very good value . Excellent gluten free food , highly recommend

Excellent food from the specials menu though there was a great range available anyway. Very attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. 3 superb courses with drinks for under £45 each.
