My goat’s cheese and tomato quiche comes in a rich, collapsing, eggy slice. Thin with a meltingly short pastry crust. Requires no knife. Parfait. Ragoût de boeuf à la bière is the best I’ve encountered in Scotland. This is generous, hearty, homely food, everything cut chunky and holding itself together beautifully: big hunks of beef braised in beer, thick carrot coins, soft fudgy potato halves, earthy slabs of swede, plenty of not overly reduced tomatoey gravy, and a thin ring of oil around the edge to let you know it’s been puttering on a stove for many hours.

Cosy restaurant, quiet ambience for the location in the middle of the city. Very Delicious dishes, good prices and relaxed, super friendly staff!

A small French restaurant. We enjoyed the mussels very very much, the scallop starters and salmon were also really really good. The Beef stew was spot on as well. Very convenient location to the touristy spots on royal mile. Quite small and cozy so booking is recommended.

We spotted this restaurant which seemed interesting, right next to the French consulate. In the evening we decided to go there me and my friend, because on Google Map it was open, once there we noticed that there was light and customers were inside, so we looked for where the door was. entry, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15m later I decide to knock on the window outside the waitress makes me understand that the restaurant is closed. So jaded and frustrated, we said that it's not normal to post opening information when the restaurant is closed, because we searched like crap in the cold, it's not respectful...

Excellent value for money for this establishment located in the heart of the Royal Mile, the city's main artery. Quality French cuisine. Smiling and efficient service. To discover without hesitation.

Words fail me.Not in a bad way. This restaurant, food and level of service from Nikki and a lovely French girl surpassed any expectations We had booked a table for lunch including my friend who has a birthday next week. We were welcomed with complimentary glasses of Kir Royale .The staff members were very attentive without being obtrusive .The restaurant itself is simple but very inviting. The food was delicious.I had ordered a starter and my friends ordered two main courses all arrived together as requested. After I ordered a dessert and my friend who has the birthday was presented with a piece of cake complete with birthday candle. My other friend was also given a dessert so she would not feel left out. When the bill arrived the cake and extra dessert were complimentary too.I am married to a chef and I felt this whole dining experience from beginning to end was just fabulous.Everything exceeded my expectations as a customer.Def recommend eating here on my next visit to Edinburgh .Well Done !

The food was great, we went to dinner and were served by a Spanish waitress, Alejandra, who was wonderful. At all times explaining the entire menu and the dishes that we did not understand. He advised us very well, I definitely recommend repeating. We had the onion soup, hummus and beef ragout. Everything was delicious and the ragout meat was super tender. Price quality very good. The coffee was also very good, they had vegetable milk. Without a doubt 100% recommended

I made a mistake with the choice of a dish and I was very positively surprised by the treatment of the staff, who did not charge us for it. Very friendly, helpful and attentive. Everything very well presented and extensive menu. I recommend it!

Edinburgh's Old Town has an array of dining options, but Le Bistrot is certainly among the best in the area. Lunch was delicious with the fish cooked perfectly. A great range of choices on the set menu. The restaurant was packed and service busy but the staff were wonderful, attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend!
