The food is quite OK. However some remarks:- the restaurant lools like a cafeteria, extreme bright lights and cafeteria tables & chair- presentation of Oysters was just sad.. small oysters, broken shells, no liquid in there and worst served on an stainless steel plate, not nicely on crushed ice.- mussels were OK, seafood pasta OK.but little seafood in it- Housewine (sauvignon) just terrible. Very cheap wine sold at premium price- service needs to improve. Sufficient staff but clearly didnt want to work. Only reactive..- price for drinks doesnt add up... over pricedOverall feels like a tourist trap.. go to Leith area for some real seafood in a nice ambience

This is THE best seafood restaurant that is in Edinburgh, without a doubt! Having tried the rest in Edinburgh, and MANY of the freshest around Scotland and the world! The Mussel Inn is truly amazing, they tell you where the mussels and the Oyster's are from that day. No your not going to go and get a steak, that's because it's strictly seafood, but you will get it served in many different ways. Also the wine list is beautiful, and for all tastes.I would say it's a place you must definitely visit, if you like never mind love seafood!OH BUT PLEASE BOOK AHEAD OF TIME! It gets very busy!Super clean, super tasty, not super expensive for an excellent city centre restaurant, have been approx 7 times and can't wait to go back ?

I had dinner in this restaurant after my sister recommended to me because she has been here before and she enjoyed the food.In my opinion the food is average, not bad but also not unforgettable. We had mussels pot, oysters, soup of the day and a seafood platter.- The mussels pot was good but unfortunately I found a hair in it…- the oysters tasted fresh but were very slims;- the seafood platter was good, but for 33pounds I was expecting much more…Not full we decided to take also two desserts which were delicious and pretty big portion.I didn’t like the fact that they charged us 8+ pounds for the service when on the menu and on the receipt itself is specified that it’s discretionary.I didn’t want to complain at the moment in front of other people but this is not fair.We won’t come back again

1st time and definitely want to experience those flavours of well prepared and cooked seafood again. Great staff with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge of food.

Really enjoyed our meal here! Wasn’t sure what to expect as it seemed quite touristy but the food was delicious and the service was was great. Had the vegetable soup to start, seafood pasta for mains, and the sticky date pudding for dessert!

This was our first meal in Edinburgh, and we were really craving seafood. This Mussel Inn was our perfect place to dine! We had a great seafood meal, and the service was also superb. Definitely order the mussel pot as it is their specialty here!Food-wise: we absolutely loved our Mussel Pot, we picked the Natural flavor one as the mussels were very fresh, so cooking it in its own juice already provides sufficient flavor or umami! It was a good portion for the price, and it also comes with a side of bread. If you want more bread, it will be extra cost! The king scallop appetizers were really good - super fresh and tender, and it was our first time trying out blood sausages (black pudding)! Not bad I have to say, especially with the citrusy sauce that came with it.Finally, the hot seafood platter was really fresh and flavorful, we were scraping the plate with our bread in the end :) the platter was rather different from what we were expecting - it's not your average seafood stew, but rather a platter with fresh king and queen scallops, tiger prawns and mussels poached in seafood sauce and topped with grilled fillet of sea bass and a chive arme fraiche! We even asked if we can switch out the mussels, and add more of everything else, and the kitchen agreed! The restaurant was still packed even though we were in the later hours for lunch, the room is bright and cozy, good place for friends gather and dates.Overall I'd definitely recommend this place to my friends in Edinburgh, especially if they enjoy seafood!

Mussels are OFF.Seafood is NOT FRESH.Service was also appalling, I think sadly now they are getting too popular and are losing their touch with customers. In particular to the large Philippino manager - Catherine Pena
