Wow. A fab bar.

Gothic place for rock and beer lovers

The bartender is an absolute bellend. Extremely rude and is on a power trip. An embarrassment to an otherwise cool place. Refusing to accept a legal form of ID and kicking out people after they’ve paid for their ticket already… An absolute scam.

Mods, rockers, punks, goths and Hell's Angels, I've met them all in this little gem, and also have played numerous gigs here with my band and saw various others. There's a cinema, a pool table and loads of little nooks and crannies to sit in. Karaoke nights are always fun and the barstaff are always braw and cheerful.

Very atypical pub which has the merit of always being open and until very late even during the week!

Brought my daughter 20 here to see a band (comfort girl) but the security wouldn't let her in what I could only see as disability discrimination she had ID we weren't drinking I was absolutely furious. I have been a customer here for many years, and this experience has really put me off. I do think there is a problem in Edinburgh just now with problematic doormen though.

Great live venue and pub.

Best place in Edinburgh, but if I had a complaint, it would be the music. This place deserves gothic/postpunk ambient for sure. The staff was amazing and always a smile on their faces, thank you so much!

Interesting spot! Definitely a labyrinth within...wish some of the closed off bars had been open but they were sitting empty, reserved for private parties... The vampire bar looked really cool. There was just one sad dude sitting alone in the movie theater with the VLC player icon up on the screen. This was maybe 10pm on a Thursday? Maybe that's just the vibe. Pretty sure a ghost watched me pee in the ladies' room. What more could I ask for in a dive bar?

Could do with more bar staff.
