Another great teatime visit while visiting Edinburgh ? Excellent selection of beers - love the dark beers, stouts and porters and the food - we had chicken burgers with chips etc which were lovely. Great atmosphere - place buzzing, service and staff spot on. Would deffo recommend a visit, many thanks x

Read some of the listed reviews and we nearly didn't go but so glad we did the pub was buzzing packed with people The dining area was deserted not a soul but we decided to order and what a fabulous meal the BEST STEAK PIE I have ever had and I like steak pies and my wife's Veggie meal was great also. Had a great chat with Ian who looked after us who told us loads about thee history of the pub. Anytime we are in Edinburgh from now on THIS is where we will be eating.

We were really looking forward to visiting here, but on walking through the door the smell of sh*t hits you, we had one drink and left as the smell is totally throughout the place, disappointing ?

Awful smell reported to bar staff who don’t seem interested. Good pub but many customers leaving because of the odour…..

Very unhappy with how my partner and I were treated at The Guildford Arms on our visit to Edinburgh. We wanted to join our friends for a coffee after they finished their meal. We sat down at the same table with our friends only to find out that we are refused the service. We were told that the place upstairs is only for food therefore the server refused to serve us (my partner and I) coffee however was still happily serving our friends. All of us found that very rude. I’d not recommend this place.

Went here on a weeknight, not expecting it to be so busy. Went upstairs to the “restaurant”, which is really just six tables in a very cramped space. They were full and we asked a waiter if they took names. He said no, so we said how do we know when there’s table available? His response was just keeping walking up the stairs until you find something. When I commented that didn’t seem to be a very efficient process, he said “we don’t need to worry since we have so much business. Needless to say we left. I’m not about to give my business to a place that treats customers with such disdain. Only go here if you enjoy rude behaviour and poor service from the staff.

Place doesn’t open when it says online, about 30-40 mins after. No food sometimes till 3, so call ahead and ask if they are serving.

This place was our home away from home while vacationing in Scotland. Great selection of real ales and other beers. Limited menu but great food. Fish and chips; sausage and mash; etc all great. Order at the bar. Must have a table in order to get food - also order at the bar. Also you can try a wee taste of beer for free prior to getting a full pint. Great place!

Had early dinner recently - slightly cramped area for dining upstairs/very small (bar area below huge), but the food, prices, and service more than made up for it - superb, would visit again for these reasons!!

Beautiful 19th century pub. Excellent selection of ales. Went there for dinner. Dining area is upstairs and only seat about 20 people, but it was completely booked and had to get reservations several days in advance. Very good pub far selection for dinner.

Fantastic pub with a wide range of quality ales. The building is amazingly ornate inside. We had dinner upstairs, the service, thank you Melissa, was excellent, despite being really busy, and the food arrived really quickly, best tasting fish and chips I've had in ages. Bar tenders are all friendly helpfull and smartly dressed, a great touch. Highly recommend the Guildford Arms even if it's just a cheeky pint.

Called in for refreshments on our way to Waverley after a day trip to Edinburgh. It’s a wonderful traditional bar which offers a great selection of beers and food too. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lost one star only because the gents toilets had a bit of an odour issue and could have done with a bit of a refresh / clean, although this is a common issue in the era of all day opening. Plenty hot water and soap available which is a definite plus too.

They were very busy but fit us in. Great location. Friendly staff. Delicious fish and chips.
