We had beautiful cakes and scones all washed down with tea and coffee yesterday at the Bachan Hotel. We were a party of 30 but the service was smooth and courteous and the staff very helpful and friendly - Thank you for making us so welcome, we will see you again x

Over the years we’ve enjoyed so many lovely meals but tonight we came after not being for a year and was so disappointed at how much the menu had changed and the quality of the food which has gone really downhill. The beef steak pie was very bland and had a horrible fragrant taste. My friend found a long hard bit in hers which was very off putting. My other friend received a plate of vegetables which hadn’t been properly prepared and had been left with the pepper seeds in it. They had also run out of a sauce but didn’t try to substitute for something else so was a very dry bland plate. The sticky toffee pudding was actually really nice but the brownie was served without the extras stated on the menu. Such a shame as we used to love a visit here but would not return or recommend anymore.

Best Roast Dinner I have tasted in the North East! I was so surprised to find this place with such a great roast. It used to be a carvery but according to the friendly waitress, they have a new chef (Bob) who is shaking things up in the kitchen. I love a roast dinner and this one I had today was second to none; the beef was pink and soft, potatoes tasted amazing, the parsnip purée was so rich and the best bit (which is the hardest) was the gravy. It was obvious this was no bisto, it was sooooooo rich and flavoursome, it complemented everything. Add the skirlie and spiced red cabbage and the deal was done. It was £15 as well, total bargain. I’ll be back to try the pork next time. Cheers Buchan team.
