Passed by the restaurant a few times on the way to Berwick Upon Tweed and one day decided to stop in and see what it was like. It was very quiet when we arrived just another couple in eating. We ordered a breakfast , which was nice , the man who ran it spoke to us about the place and that he hadn’t long took it over. In all the food was good and the staff friendly, but something seemed missing , mostly customers not sure it will survive , hope it does tho !

We had driven virtually from the west coast to the east, to holiday in Lower Burnmouth. On that "historical route", the A7, from Carlisle to Edinburgh there are virtually no, if any, inns open nor services. We were gasping for our after lunch coffee and the First and Last was indeed our first opportunity to slake our caffeine need.It was so sad to see the devastation which had been caused here by Storm Arwen and that they were still unable to serve any food at all. We had been looking forward to Sunday Lunch here.Anyway, I first went in the ask if they were serving coffee. Happily, the answer was "Yes". I also asked if they were "dog friendly". Again, happily the answer was "Yes".So, we had a nice latte, served by Ewan, who also brought treats for Merlin - our dog. Now, that's 5*.

Great history, although the original building is no longer standing. Euan is very friendly. Great stop off on the way to Scotland.

Just called in for a coffee and was welcomed by a lovely gentleman. I got some great info for my trip farther North. I'll be calling in on the way home.

Great service from a young Lady who had just started working that day.I had soup & sausage & mash & a pot of tea.Nothing to complain about everything was spot on.Highly recommended & well worth a visit. Thankyou for excellent service & souper( sorry i could not resist the pun) service.

Realise where the name comes from and it's nothing to do with proximity to the border. First and last drink I'll have there. Nice enough place but very poor service.

We have visited a couple of times since Euan took over and have thoroughly enjoyed our meals each time. The food is freshly cooked and delicious and there is a good selection to choose from. Prices are reasonable. It is a friendly welcoming place to visit. The new decor is lovely, will be visiting regularly>

Perfect place to stay. Owner is a legend and cooks a mean breakfast. Food is delicious and all ingredients are fresh. Rooms also nice and comfy. Location is beautiful. Thanks again.

Ive upped my rating from 1 star to 3 stars.. This place in my visit boast both the worst and best customer service. We ordered 2 starters and a potion of chips as a light meal and was told it could come has a meal on 1 plate.. However when arrived No Sauces or Salad even though we'd paid for the full dishes, when questioned the waitress, she said im just the waitress and she suggested we just leave it. The Chef did pop out and appologise and supplied the missing items (we'd eaten most of it). However i left my Bushcraft knife on the table and the Chef met me on the bus on my return journey to give it me back, Which i am eternally grateful.. Thank you..

Visited for the first time 29th July 2021 and we were certainly not disappointed , lovely food , cosy surroundings with a nautical theme and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Hope to visit again soon?

Had a night in the bar watching the football on our visit to Burnmouth. The ale selection and condition was excellent with a fantastic atmosphere on account of the friendly locals who were very welcoming. Host knows his stuff, knows people & knows how to run a proper bar. The only disappointment was that Scotland didn’t get 3 points…
