Don't waste your time. We picked Coldingham partly because there was 1 pub that 'claimed' to be dog friendly. We should have listened to other reviews. Checked online. Dog friendly and open to 10pm. Walked 15 minutes along a dark road arrived at 8.45 to be told their 'dog friendly' part of the bar shuts at 9. Lame pathetic excuses followed, ZERO people skills, common sense or initiative. Absolute wet wipes not fit to run a pub. Needless to say we will NEVER go near the place again and all we wanted was 1 drink with 1 small quiet dog. Absolute chocolate fireguard cretins. At least the Anchor states no dogs (though pathetic too). Go to Eyemouth instead, at least there are folk running pubs there with decency, people skills and more than half a brain cell.

Walked to be immediately told that dogs are not allowed in the room we walked into. Sign outside saying dog friendly… obviously not that friendly…. Left and will not be going back

Far better places to eat locally, try the Cross Inn in Paxton. At the New Inn, staff are rude and need some lessons in customer service! We are locals and have had fish and chips on a Friday night from here every week for years. Tonight called up and were told no collections, or orders for take away as they are too busy. No sorry, no apology and a very rude tone. Good luck getting locals to come here when the tourists are gone.

Called in for dinner. Friendly staff, great beer and good food. Belhaven Steak and Ale pie highly recommended. Recommend you book to avoid disappointment.

Finding somewhere to eat in this area is a bit limited so we took our chances with The New Inn. Arrived at 19:45 and asked about an evening meal and were told the kitchen would close at 20:00 so we would have to be quick so not the most inviting of starts. The menu options are pretty standard pub grub and a little on the pricey side given the offerings, little on offer if you want a light bite or vegetarian option. We ordered fish and chips and a mussel in tomato sauce (starter portion). Neither were anything special although we did finish the food because we were hungry. The beer and lager were well kept. We didn't stay long because it was clear that things were wrapping up even tho' it was still quite early. Bar staff were friendly enough and one was even a bit chatty when we were about to leave. The others seemed a bit distracted. Not much atmosphere to the place and we and one other table of 2 were the only customers. Decor is a bit dull and the music was all from the 80s (could be a plus for some).

Nice pub was very busy and we didn’t get a proper table in the restaurant, but the food was nice but not much atmosphere as everybody seemed busy .Parking: Car park at side of pub bit tight but fine

Service was not the best we could ask for. Except for the waiting which is not a problem to us, one waitress seemed to be quite annoyed by her job while the other was a little bit ditsy and unprepared about hygienic way to bring dishes. I can’t give more than two stars for atmosphere but I must say than since we’ve two dogs we had dinner not in their nicest room. Food was satisfying and this it the most important thing actually. We recommend sizzling Pork!

Lovely food..... everything looks and tastes homemade. We went on a Thursday at 6 pm and it got busy but the atmosphere was still amazing. Lovely looking pub on the inside, sadly we were only on holiday and choose this for our last nights meals. We will be back in 2024 when we on holiday I cant wait to come. For 7 people the price was cheaper than I thought well good value for money. Highly recommend all the dishes they serve.

A must visit if you go to Coldingham the good is excellent. I had potatoe skins & then steak pie it was delicious my partner had squid rings & battered haddock & chips which he said were both excellent he said the fish was amazing. The service is good & the staff friendly & very helpful & welcoming this pub has a lovely atmosphere & I just loved it. We visited last year when we were down so decided to go in this year for food it did not disappoint. It has a lovely huge beer garden outside were you can also sit & have your food. It's just lovely. We will definitely visit next year if we are down. Kid-friendliness: Has the usual kid friendly menu burgers nuggets etc.

Do not go into this pub unless you’re happy to listen to unchallenged, foul mouthed and misogynistic language. My wife has just had to sit and listen to women being referred to as b*tches and when the bar staff were challenged the answer was ‘it is a bar’. Every other word out of the local man’s mouth was the F word. We later find out that he has been challenged before, but “what can you do”? Grow some, and bar him. Stay clear - this is an absolutely awful pub, badly managed and zero customer service. Awful!
