Didn't go round the gardens but did visit the café which was lovely and cosy with a massive log burner stove on which we were sat beside..I had the pea and bacon soup and sandwich option which was sooo filling I ended up taking the 3/4 of my sandwich home (coronation chicken and salad) husband had the local sausages and mash with peas and it came smothered with onion gravy ?. Didn't have to wait long for food to arrive and the waiter Alistair was polite and friendly.. will definitely be back to try something else on the menu.

A beautiful spot even on an Autumn day. We left with fresh apples, cabbage and gin. What more could you need. Fabulous facilities too.

What a beautiful place! But a lot of work! Too bad we missed most of the blooming flowers, but we still found some beautiful blossoms. Besides, there were ripe apples and pears and zucchini and pumpkins. We take beautiful ideas for our garden back to us in Germany. Many greetings!

Could have been a good experience for afternoon tea at 3pm with a reservation, but wasn't. Came here Sep 29th, the blonde waitress was polishing and then throwing the cutlery into the bin loudly for what felt like a long time. We're not noise sensitive but this was piercingly loud. Felt bizarre. Table wasn't cleaned properly either. The ambiance of the place is nice but with lackluster staff it's just not a worthy experience to be repeated. I agree with previous reviews, you're pretty much forgotten about. No one checked on us. The young man working the espresso machine was nice & friendly, so therefore leaving a 3/5Parking: Google Maps will send you in the wrong way. Don't follow Google Maps but signage on the road.

Only had a coffee here, but it was an extremely hot day and the iced latte was SO delicious and needed! Plenty of ice too! And oat milk was available. Given a table in the shade even though we hadn't booked. Lovely friendly service.

Visited here today with my son and was very disappointed with our meal. We ordered the soup and sandwich. The soup was tasteless and full of seeds which we were not advised about. I wasn't able to eat mine and the bread was hard and I had to take out the lettuce as it was so brown, the salad had some leaves, 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice cucumber and some shredded carrot. This cost £29.90 my son ate his because of the cost. I did complain to one of the young boys, who said he would pass it on and thought someone would come and see us but no after waiting sometime I went inside and asked same lad if he had passed my message on but he hadn't, he disappeared and came back offering me 10% off bill but as I had paid it when I had ordered it he couldn't do anything. We also had to wait about 30 minutes for our meal.Very disappointed with meal but more disappointed about the lack of interest when I complained. I am not in the habit of complaining and we have been here several times before. Wouldn't recommend .

It's a lovely garden. Is it worth £9 per person? No. It's also quite astonishing the amount of unpicked fruit and vegetables in the garden that look like they'll go to waste. The cafe is lovely. Really recommend the Cullen skink. It is kind of pricey, especially after that entrance fee.

Beautiful setting with fabulous food.

Beautiful setting with wonderful walled garden which will appeal to lovers of fine gardens.

Great tranquil spot to enjoy the garden fresh food. Roasted courgette pea and basil soup was delicious! Fantastic news that the café is now dog friendly, so if the weather turns, you can dine inside too.

Eating in the cafe that serves fresh food from the garden is definitely a worthwhile experience. It is refreshing after touring the garden and it's history, and there is even fresh produce to purchase once you finished your meal.

The weather certainly complements all that hard work put into it. We had tea there too. The tea drink was a little tasteless BUT the carrot cake was scrumptious. Please tell whoever's made it. All very friendly.

Loved it! Delicious afternoon tea with great service. Definitely recommend both the garden and the eatery. Will absolutely go back ?
