This has to be one of the nicest friendliest warm welcoming pub in the country. ever time iv been in the hotel bar I meet friendly local people who are happy to chat over a drink with the real fire burning in the background. theres a beer garden out the back ideally on a sunny day to sit and chill with my dog. the staff and always keen to help offer a wealth of knowledge on local places to visit. live music played on some Saturday nights a real good vib. I cant wait to go back on holiday to gatehouse of fleet and visit the Bank of fleet Hotel.

Phoned yesterday and reserved a table for tonight at 6pm, lady said she was new and wasnt sure if they were taking bookings for sitting inside but took my mobile number and name and said if it was not someone would call me back. NO one did, so along we went to the hotel for our meal and was told they were not serving food inside but only takeaway, i was offered a takeaway but was really looking for a sit in meal. Poor communication as no one called me back. Ended up driving to newton stewart for a meal as every where else around was full tonight. Better training/communication requied between staff in the Hotel.

We were staying at Cally Palace Hotel for a night, but, as they weren't showing the football, we decided to try our luck in town. This was the hotel we stepped in first .. and we didn't need to walk back out! As soon as we walked in, the barmaid turned on the football for us and asked us what we were drinking - perfect! We saw the bright lights of the Staropramen tap and the mad ourselves comfortable. I can't find any faults with the bar area and they had also set up Covid rules throughout the building, which was comforting. The pints were reasonably priced, with plenty of choices, and the service was excellent.

Nice pub with large function room to the back. Ideal for all parties and weddings.

Visited here for a meal when staying at anwoth, Prawn starter was absaloutly gorgeus, had minted lamb chops with boiled potatoes and veg which was lovely but would have prefered mash, and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert was just amazing! Lovely beer garden attached to the restraunt for the kids to play in. Defo reccomend ??

Food was excellent! Service was excellent! Cannot fault the place. Beer garden with a few toys for the kids and a lovely pint! I will be returning next year.

I have stayed at the Bank of Fleet on three occasions . The staff are very friendly and helpful . The rooms can be a bit hit and miss but overall are fine for £35 per person with an amazing breakfast , great value .

Popped in for lunch.Generous portions, lovely food. You certainly wouldn't leave here hungry.Very reasonably priced. Can't fault it, will certainly call again and will definitely recommend.Busy little place, obviously used by the local people, so that in itself is a recommendation.

As a local I used the Bank of Fleet every once in a while. I was a regular visitor but after a couple of meals that were not up to normal standard I was not going as regularly. Today 27/12/19, I could only give 100% across the board, meal, service, everything was just what we required. I could not pick one meal that stood out as they all did and every one of our party of 15 was more than happy with what they had, staff were attentive but just to the correct level, not hovering or asking you how the meal was before we had, had a bite. Kirsty and staff, thank you for providing a great afternoon.

A stay at this hotel is like a trip back in time. The excellent service from the staff is what makes this a quirky experience rather than a challenging one. The tariff reflects what you ought to expect - for £35pppn, don't forget you are staying in one of 6 rooms above a pub, not in a stylish hotel. Our room was small but acceptably comfortable. It would have been fine for a one night stay, but a three night trip became a bit claustrophobic. Some simple fixes and improvements would make the guest experience for more enjoyable: - Fix or replace the shower - no-one likes a showerhead held together with cable ties, or a bath panel that gapes at the wall. - Give the bathrooms a proper clean - gunk built around the taps isn't really acceptable for rooms that are being cleaned so frequently. - Fix the bedroom furniture - the chest of drawers in our room was falling apart and unusuable - Hooks on the back of a door doesn't replace a wardrobe - Single glazing and lack of ventilation is a real problem. Every morning our bedroom windows were coated in thick condensation which didn't clear during the day, even with the windows cracked open (which in October means a very cold room). - The breakfast food was lovely, but the coffee was dire. Please use the lovely coffee machine behind the bar rather than a catering-size tub of Nescafe! Music in the dining room would brighten up the atmosphere when you're the only guest in there. The decor throughout the whole establishment is in need of a refresh and modernisation if they are to stay competitive with other places and holiday lets in town. The staff and service on offer can't be faulted, but they deserve to demonstrate their hospitality in far more polished surroundings.
