One of the best steak pies I have ever had and desserts are just as nice. Brilliant service and staff are very friendly.*sticky toffee pudding in picture

The staff are polite and attentive...but upon entering there was a smell, hard to describe something along the lines of cleaning fluid and lack of ventilation. Also there 2 flies buzzing around. The table felt sticky too the touch, had to give my plate a bit of a tug to move it out the way. The single chairs and table could be upgraded and the carpet needs replacing. If your happy with basic food this is for you, would not go again.Food & drinks: We ordered the Haggis and Gretna steak pie very basic, not an original Haggis as it was not wrapped in ox bung. Steak pie came with carrots, green peas and new potatoes . It didn't taste freshly made probably microwaved. Food needs improving on ingredients and being freshly cooked.

Stopped off here for a meal. We did not stay so can't rate the rooms. Food was basic pub grub, it was a good sizes portion and tasted good. Just what we needed after a long drive. The guy serving us was lovely.

Went for a shopping day out and popped in here for a meal. Great staff, all very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing: we had garlic mushrooms then lasagna each and a beer or 2. Highly recommended.Walkability: Perfect walking distance from the shopping centres.

While staying in Ambleside thought we’d have a drive up to Gretna Green. Not the most exciting of towns, but stopped here for a coffee. Staff very friendly and chatty. Offered a water bowl to our dog which always earns Brownie points!

Let me be really clear: the bar and waitressing staff are fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them; but i suspect if owners put half as much effort into sourcing fresh food as they do into their beautiful hanging baskets this pub would be amazing. The food tonight was awful. Either frozen or microwaved. The carpets are filthy as are the walls. This could be an amazing pub but needs some effort out in from - I suspect- the owners/managers.

Myself and my wedding party booked here for a meal after our renewal service at Gretna Green on Monday 18th September 2023.The booking was made for 16 but due to illness on the day was actually halved (even my husband didn't make it for the food but I made the day perfect for me) The staff were friendly and the Inn itself was spotless. The food was beautiful and well presented for "pub grub". I will be returning in the future and would highly recommend to anyone staying in Gretna or passing through.

Fantastic weather so we thought we go for a bite to eat, to be fair solway lodge was our first choice but they had stopped serving, we then went to the the bit with the lovely flowers, a group of 7, lounge empty and was told NO!!! Bookings of 5 and over must be pre booked we were then told we couldn’t even sit outside to eat, the staff the management in this bit couldn’t run a soup kitchen, no interest in making there business thrive, the staff look like they were there doing there community service court order, attitude was diabolical I’ve never came across anything like this in my entire life, beware people save yourself the disappointment and go to the local chippy, won’t be long before this bit is closed and i have no sympathy at all, sort your staff out they are disgustingly embarrassing,

We visited during the week for dinner with family. The server was polite but nervous. The food was horrendous. The Haggis dish and the chicken dish were over peppered. The presentation of the Haggis meal with mash looked like it belongs in a care home. The chips were just standard school chips along with sauces etc out of mini packets. We didn't fancy dessert as worried we'd get sticky toffee pudding with a dash of pepper.

Friendly, lovely atmosphere, good food menu, table service, bit run down with decor and toilets but clean. Car parking and disabled access. Had soup on menu which was great for me!? #dysphagiaNearby activities: Opposite shopping outlet, Gretna Green famous location!Food & drinks: Good pub grub, tasty and hot when served up! Table service. Good portion sizes. Good value!

Having seen the pub so well dressed with flowers we were disappointed when entering to see it looking run down. We gave the place the benefit of the doubt. But wished we hadn’t. Staff were friendly and welcoming enough but our food was poor. We ate what we could and left.
