My experience of first time visiting, was not pleasant at all. We booked for the 30 of December until the 1st of January. When booking we were told breakfast was included. On arrival we had to pay £40 for breakfast. We also asked about new years eve. We were told they were full, I asked when booking about new years eve, no one even bothered to get back. We came down for dinner at 5.30 and was told we had move to another table as the one we were at was reserved. I asked why there was no reserve signs on, I was told they do not have reserve signs. On top of all that I got a very stroppy young girl to deal with, she had a face like thunder when questioned about the table, she constantly clicked her pen all the way through chat. Rude beyond rude, never ever again would I stay here.

Easy enough location to find, with warm welcoming reception staff. Was there for an annual Christmas Lunch in one of the many function rooms where meals were served promptly. With a decent portion size for an adult appetite at lunchtime. ??

My review is based on the food and service only .We went in for a late lunch/early supper and were greeted very warmly. Drinks and table service were very fast and orders were soon despatched after a brief discussion re the menu and popular choices. I ordered the Belhaven Steak pie and it arrived at the table very hot and full of flavour. My overall 4 star rating is because I felt the green veg accompaniment was very meagre and the creamed potatoes could have been better presented. Nevertheless, this shouldn't put you off because the overall experience was one of pleasure - thank you.

Just a shame that due to scummy politics and corporate greed, that local businesses can't afford to turn on the heating. Lovely staff, food

Great family-friendly hotel/restaurant. Food is great, and Service always comes with a smile. We had been going here for years, and this was our first visit in around 7 years or so. I'm delighted that it hasn't changed too much, and still has that family-friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend for a family meal or out on a date.

Booked online reservation and table ready on arrival. Menu selection was decent and catered for all of our party. Bar area seemed really busy.Service was a little slow taking drinks orders and then waiting for food order to be taken. Ran out of spare cutlery it seemed as well!!Felt some main courses were a little expensive for what arrived on the plate (lamb shank seemed the worse)Overall a nice meal. And would give it another opportunity to impress.Food & drinks: Good bar selections

Very nicely located hotel. We booked a room with a lake view and were completely satisfied. The room size was decent. The shower had good pressure and provided consistent heat. The breakfast was ok, the salmon is worth mentioning. All in all, a very nice hotel. Of course, you have to accept some compromises.

Didn’t book a room but booked for dinner, service and food were amazing! Staff were very friendly and the food was cooked perfectly, I had the balmoral burger and it was so juicy. Thank you, we would love to visit again in the future!Food & drinks: Fantastic.

If I could give zero stars I would. We booked a table for 1pm. Starters arrived fine but parts of starters missing. When we questioned staff we just got a shrug and reply, we haven't got any. A further hour after our starters the waiter came back and said menu options were unavailable for 2 of our party and to pick something else. We reordered. Another half an hour and the food hadn't arrived. We called the manager who said we've been really busy and we have a buffet on. He said it would be another 5 mins they were just plating up. Another 15 mins past so we just had to leave. 2 hours in a restaurant and still no food. The manager was hopeless. Would like to review the meal but difficult when you didn't receive it. Won't be backNoteworthy details: Very poor service.

Went to ardencaple tonight to find a new menu in place which was ok. But my mother law ordered fish and chips, which this place had an excellent reputation for. Very disappointed , not the normal fish with lovely fresh batter. She couldn't cut through the batter very rubbery, definitely not hand battered as advertised. My husband has been chef for 40yrs he questioned hand battered description. Waitress came back and said definetly hand battered so i think they need to review this product otherwise they will be loosing customers. No crispness to batter ,ready battered definetly and cooked in oven.
