Running out of adjectives to describe the experience of dining and/or staying here. It really is special ?

We came here for dinner just before Christmas and had a really nice time.We were the only diners that evening as although the hotel was full, all the guest had gone to a wedding, so it was very quiet. We wanted a drink before dinner in the bar area, but unfortunately it was chilly, as the fire wasn’t on. I guess this was because we were the only diners. There was though a small fire on in the restaurant once we went through for dinner. The food was good and the service was excellent. We would definitely go again, although it was a little pricey to go regularly.

What a fantastic experience from the warm welcome the hosts Oxana and Bryn have created a wonderful restaurant with rooms. The food was all local. Beautifully prepared and presented. The service was faultless and the Christmas interiors so naturally done.

Excellent dinner and lovely atmosphere. Log fire. We were well looked after and price was reasonable too. The Gordon Arms is a recommended visit for any lover of locally sourced produce like ourselves. We enjoyed roasted butternut squash and salmon for starters. Then local venison Wellington and mushroom risotto for main. Followed by armagnac prunes for dessert. Food was cooked to perfection. All so good!

Stayed one night at this charming out of the way Inn with some friends. The couple who owned and ran the in were charming and hospitable. The menu choices for dinner were quite broad for a small inn but were delicious on being served. The wine list complimented the menu and the bar had an interesting range of gins and whiskeys. The bedrooms were quite simple but well appointed, warm and comfortable. A full scottish breakfast was very welcome. All in all a delightful experience and good value ... I do hope it thrives and prospers!

If I could rate this place lower than a 1 I absolutely would. We called to make the booked as it was one of few places that accepted dogs in the area during our lodge break. The women took our booking but didn’t disclose that there was a minimum spend per person of £23. This also was the same terms for our toddler. We arrive to find out the minimum spend and that they have no kids menu. So after being seated we decided that the minimum spend for a child who wouldn’t have ate anything from the extremely posh menu was too much and we’d just have drinks and leave the women who sat us down acted appalled and aggressive started clearing our table whilst we were still sat with drinks. After clearing the table she took herself behind the bar where she stood and stared at us until we paid and left. I must add the place only had 1 other couple so it’s not as if we took up a place. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant before. Won’t be back!

Saturday lunch - a fantastic meal and top service. The menu is dominated by local produce. We went for three courses for just over £30 which is a great deal, especially when the cooking is as good as this. Seriously excellent food cooked by a proper chef who also popped out to say hello - all part of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I fully recommend this place - well worth a drive up the spectacular Yarrow Valley. They also do a takeaway service so you can enjoy the same quality at home.

What a wonderful 3 days we spent for our anniversary at the Gordon Arms. We were treated like royalty with nothing too much trouble. The food was exceptional cooked by an extremely talented award winning chef. Front of house was catered for by his partner who ensured our stay was both pleasurable and very relaxing. Rooms were spotless but the food was the best we have ever had. Thank you Bryn, Owana and there very small but dedicated team. Brilliant - and we'll be back!

I have visited the Gordon arms twice this year, once for food and once for a stay over in room 3 and food. It is a lovely quiet location with excellent food and rooms. The hosts are most welcoming and very hospitable. At breakfast I ordered extra toast half way through and it came in time to finish our breakfast, including their own made jam. Our evening meal was amazingly delicious (local venison) and service was friendly and speedy. The view from our room was also amazing if you take away the dreaded Scottish weather. Overall an amazing experience, oh and not to forget the great choice of wines!

What a wonderful dinner after a year’s break. Visiting Scottish Borders and could not think of a better way to start our holiday. Even in pouring rain it was cosy, inviting and hospitable. We had a wonderful dinner which was a great value. Dishing were perfectly cooked. Hard to say what was the best. Service was personal. Can’t wait to go back.

We popped in for a drink, and were immediately welcomed by the very charming owner. The restaurant and bar are beautiful - very clean and stylish, with fresh flowers everywhere. (In fact, when the owner noticed me smelling the gorgeous sweet peas on our table, she very kindly invited me to pop into the garden and take some home!)Although we weren't eating today, we had a look at the menu, which seemed very tempting - we'll definitely be back very soon to try it.Thank you for your kindness.
