Referred here by local and looked at reviews before visiting. We were immediately greeted and seated next to the bar when we walked in. Took about 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Ordered cocktails, the wings and mussels. The drinks were served promptly with the food following within 10-15 minutes. Some of the wings were perfect while others were so dry we couldn't eat them. It was like two separate batches were combined for one order. The mussels were excellent. We then ordered the burger and fish and chips. The burger was small, dry and cooked beyond well done. I realized afterwards that I was not asked how I wanted it cooked; so, maybe that's the way the order was entered. The fish and chips were standard.Even though we were seated directly across from the bar, we had to carry our drinks to the bar and ask for refills every time. There was a table of gentleman that wanted to leave and they had to visit the bar to tab out. Two of them mentioned to the girl checking them out that the service was terrible. She didn't show any concern. At one point, when I walked to the bar for a refill, I looked into the back section, and there was literally no one seated. There were 3 employees seated playing on their phones. I asked if they were closed and we were holding them up. I was told that they just get slow before the main dinner rush. The service was poor. The food was below average and the atmosphere was nothing special. Maybe it was just a bad night.

We (6 0f us) ended up in this bar/bistro in Inverness because foolishly on a Saturday night we hadn’t booked ahead and we were lucky to get in here. So glad we did!! We had a really great evening with most delicious food, very pleasant and attentive staff and great atmosphere. Whenever I see mussels on the menu then I make a beeline for them and I can honestly say, these were the best i have ever had. Plump, tender and delicious, filling the whole shell. My wife had the steak pie which she also thought was fab. apparently, the fish and chips was equally nice. Altogether, highly recommended!

Great restaurant. Went here twice and loved the food. Steak and ale pie was on point as well as the chicken stuffed haggis and salmon. Cullen skink was a great starter on a cool night. Highly recommend.

Came here for dinner and it was amazing! Really great front of house and service staff that were kind and accommodating. Had the pan seared salmon - was cooked perfectly. Would definitely come back!

Fabulous little independent bar and restaurant just off the main street opposite the castle. We went twice - The cullen skink was lovely, as was the leek and potato soup, salmon and lamb. On the second visit my steak pie was delicious. but Mum's steak was tough & had to be returned. However the staff couldn't have been more helpful in dealing with it, and these things do happen occasionally. Overall - Fantastic food, great venue, reasonably priced food and drink. RECOMMENDED.

Great food, it appeared to be very popular. The staff were very helpful and extremely busy. My only negative was that we were given a table close to the front. The restaurant towards the back looked a lot warmer and more comfortable, I know it was busy but I booked well in advance so thought we’d get a proper table.

We didn't know of this place and entered by accident when passing by hungry, and it was really worth it! Food was great (we had salmon and lamb) and so was the service. If we ever come back to Inverness we'll definitely eat here, and can recommend this place to all.

Pleased we booked in advance as restaurant was super busy. Food was excellent - I had the salmon and my husband had highland chicken followed by the white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake (delish). The atmosphere was great and the staff were all brilliant. Will definitely be back :-)

Ate here recently after booking a table for 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. Glad we booked as it was full! Hubby had the lamb shank and I had the steak and ordered medium rare. Cooked to perfection, well rested and was just delicious. Hubby said the lamb was the best he’s had since we moved to Inverness a year ago. All polished off with a really nice bottle of Malbec from a decent wine selection. Finished with desserts of ice cream for me and sticky toffee pudding for hubby, I’m sure he would have licked the plate if we had been at home it was so good lol!! A big shout out to the female waitress - didn’t catch her name but she’s a credit to this restaurant - bubbly, friendly and very welcoming. We left suitably stuffed and will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Mouthwatering food and fantastic service. I expected a pub dinner but got top restaurant quality food and service. The highland chicken is to die for. Would recommend to anyone. Very reasonably-priced.

We were in search of the perfect Cullen Skink soup, and noticed that No 27 had it on their menu. My husband and I would describe the soup as slightly disappointing. It had too much more potato than haddock and was a little too thin in consistency. I also had a Walnut and feta salad which seemed to be a Walnut and boccocini salad instead and not really what I ordered.

We were able to get a table in the late afternoon prior to the dinner rush otherwise reservations would have been a must. The food is simply spectacular. The Chicken stuffed w/haggis and wrapped with Parma ham should be at the top of your “try it you’ll luv it” list. Do not shy away from the haggis. Service is all smiles from everyone. First place that we have encountered a Scottish cider and we give it a thumbs up. The honey whisky sauce goes with everything.

Vibe, service, and food was phenomenal! We stopped there on a whim and we’re so glad we did, although I’d suggest making reservations. We felt pretty lucky the staff managed to get us seated because they were quite busy. Everyone was super nice and made helpful recommendations too.

The best fish and chips you will ever have! Something about haddock just tops everything that the cod fish and chips have to offer. The steak pie was also to die for. Get those two and you will not be disappointed! Amazing service as well and the nicest people. Would definitely come back across the sea to eat here.
