Cafe One
75 Castle St, InvernessMy wife and I caught them on a bad night. Our service was inconsistent, at best. More frustrating for us - we watched three couples arrive after us, but get food service long before us. One of those couples was served dessert before we received our main courses. And we ordered the special. It took about 20 minutes after we finished dessert before we found a member of the wait staff to request our check. We waited another 10 minutes for someone to come by so we could actually pay the bill. Thoroughly frustrated, we walked our bill to the bar to pay. Despite all of the trials and tribulations with service, the food was excellent, and the setting is romantic. It's a beautiful restaurant.

Perk Coffee + Doughnuts
36 Church St, InvernessFantastic doughnuts, paninis, foccacias - with vegan options. Foodwise you will not be disappointed. Coffee can be on the 'milky' side but can ask for extra shots. Friendly staff, music is not too loud. Seating is a bit precarious - one bench and the rest are window stools. Can get a bit cramped so be aware if disabled. Absolutely worth it for takeaway though.

Mcleod's Fish & Chips
29 Grant St, InvernessHaving seen some publicly around a recent award we decided to try them. Only a couple of people waiting ahead and had our order taken quickly. Not too long to wait for the order after that. A respectable chippy menu with some seldom seen classics such as Mock Chops and potato fritters. The Stornoway Black Pudding was the best I've had and the standard Hadock supper went down well with my wife.
Probably the fourth time visiting now; much busier, but still good food at a decent price (they even tell you which boat caught the fish for that day.) Another couple of visits, food still as good but the queue is out the door they're that well thought of.
Now running a well established monthly GF night (last Tuesday of the month?)

Simpsons
Culloden Rd, InvernessSimpsons Garden Centre in Inverness offers a wide range of products for gardening, home decor, and more, with something for everyone. The variety is impressive, and the store is well-organized. However, I find the prices on some products fair but most of them to be ridiculously overpriced.
I’ve visited the coffee shop and restaurant many times, but I feel compelled to leave a negative review after my recent experiences. The staff is consistently rude, and I’ve observed multiple occasions where food was served without gloves. Even worse, I’ve seen staff touching their faces, mobile phones, and kitchen bells before handling food, which is concerning from a hygiene perspective. The coffee is equally disappointing—it really needs some serious improvement. The lack of coffee training is obvious, and the drinks are consistently poor quality. I’m making an exception in leaving this review because, as a regular customer, I’ve had enough of the subpar service and unsatisfactory food and drink experiences.

The White House
50 Union St, InvernessNice atmosphere and ambience. Staff always very friendly and attentive. Food was good - nice to see a menu that's not just pretty much the same as everywhere else - although ££8.50 for a Caprese salad starter which is half a tomato and a few slices of mozzarella does seem a little steep.
What really struck me though is the seat-pads were badly stained and the table sticky. A common issue where the tables are wiped with a cleaning spray but not properly cleaned. Layer after layer goes on until you get that thick sticky residue that's quite unpleasant.
A good restaurant overall but some simple changes would really improve things.Nice atmosphere and ambience.

Best Restaurants

River House
1 Greig St, InvernessThere’s a reason River House is the number one rated restaurant in Inverness on BOTH Yelp and TripAdvisor: It really is that good. Advance reservations are a must but you will not be disappointed. The owner/chef is charming and seemingly everywhere at once and the service and staff are top notch. Everyone agrees that the mussels are a must. We also had the seafood stew and the sole, both of which were excellent. Definitely our best meal in Scotland.

Redburn Cafe & Gifts
Dundreggan Inverness-shire, The Bungalows, Glenmoriston, InvernessPopped in today and managed to get a table as they were very busy so enjoyed our usual wonderful lunch. Always cooked to perfection and the famous "Richard's chips" were fantastic. They are dog friendly too so our wee pooch Alvah had a great time being petted by other visitors.

34 Church St, InvernessSuch a precious find with a good range of whiskies from all over. The staff was knowledgeable and more than willing to share about everything whisky. His recommendations were all excellent and to our tastes. It's no wonder that it's popular with whisky lovers, and deservedly so.

Encore
5 Young St, InvernessI recommend it more for a bar, the food is only good, as it should taste but nothing spectacular, the service excellent and the atmosphere too, I loved the live music, what I liked least was the sticky toffee, the ice cream was very bad and the Pound cake did not feel fresh.

105 Church St, InvernessStumbled upon this gem while on a walk with my partner and dog. We were looking for some light dinner and drinks and this was perfect! They were extremely dog friendly and my pup even got some cheese!
The place is lovely, welcoming, and friendly. The food and drinks were great. We got the meat platter, a bottle of wine, a sherry flight, and a glass of sherry. The staff was extremely busy but they were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Urquhart's Restaurant
2 Young St, InvernessThe ribeye cooked medium was tough to chew. Hunter style chicken was good. No desserts. One glass of wine.
The server that interacted with us the most never smiled. Like G Miller said in the review 1 month ago, the overall experience was not "wow". Instead, it was "meh" and for the pricing, we wanted "wow".

Good Craic Cafe
41 High St, InvernessSmall joint downtown. Tried chili con carne which didn’t taste like it was supposed to, no spice, too watery, lacking flavor and small portion. Best part of the dish was the garlic bread. The toasties and full English breakfast were good however.

Salt’N’Fire
The, Victorian Mkt, Church St, InvernessI was in Inverness for the day yesterday and popped into the Victorian Market food hall specifically to check out Salt N Fire. So much choice and I bought the Soto Ayam noodles with soya chunks and it was amazing. I mean I thought it would be good but it far exceeded my expectations. Spicy, flavoursome and great texture. I wish I lived nearer as I'd be a regular visitor.

Castle View Guest House Inverness
2a Ness Walk, InvernessWe loved the host. She couldn't have done more for us and her suggestions really added to our enjoyment of Inverness. Her breakfasts were hot, fresh and homemade. The location was perfect. 4 Star for room because it could have used a little more storage in room and space in bathroom

Miele's Gelateria Inverness
92 Church St, InvernessSo many vegan flavours to choose from. Dairy free chocolate and irn bru are highlights. I enjoyed both of these flavours immensely. Watermelon sorbet is also very flavourful. I loved their ice cream so much that in one day I got 6 scoops. They really made my Inervess trip so enjoyable.
The only criticism I have is that their spoon is too big and deep. It hurts the sides of my mouth. Having a smaller more flat spoon would make the ice cream eating experience much more enjoyable.
Vegetarian options: So many vegan options
