“Fabulous little independent bar and restaurant just off the main street opposite the castle. We went twice - The cullen skink was lovely, as was the leek and potato soup, salmon and lamb. On the second visit my steak pie was delicious. but Mum's steak was tough & had to be returned. However the staff couldn't have been more helpful in dealing with it, and these things do happen occasionally. Overall - Fantastic food, great venue, reasonably priced food and drink. RECOMMENDED.”

“Fab food at a good price. Good selection of beers and spirits. Lots of screens for sport. Allows dogs which was nice. Small inside for eating but very nice and has lots of history.”

“Lovely lovely lovely! Amazing menu with lots of options for everyone. I started with the soup of the day with the chunky bread and oh my goodness, very appropriate for the weather, loved it. Then for the main course I chose the Wild Scottish Venison Medallion and I was a bit afraid about the sauce but nothing to worry about because it was delicious, the meat was savory and the sauce gave it a nice touch. Of course at some point of the night I had a Guinness, delicious as usual. The service was incredibly fast, you have no idea and the people working there were lovely ?.”

“We didn't eat, so I can't comment or mark that. The staff were attentive, and the atmosphere was excellent as live music was on offer. These lads were really good. Great mix of clientele. Best pub around the area by far, so it's definitely worth a visit!”

“We booked in on short notice to have late lunch after a long hike. Dogs very welcome in bar area where they serve food too! Service was so so quick and food was amazing! Portions are so generous and staff are ever so wonderful to dogs who were well looked after. We had large buffalo wings to share, a haddock burger and beef pie which was the best I’ve had! Coffees were delicious too! Thank you for having us!”

“Twee keer geweest en met een groep Nederlanders was het gezellig. Er was een waterlekkage door de enorme regenbuien. De rust werd om de 20 minuten verstoord door de waterstofzuiger gedurende 1 minuut of zo.”

“Food was tasty, really nice fish and chips but dissapointed with the mushy peas. They were nuked in the microwave and the portion was far too small, the tartare sauce again was miniscule. Definitely not enough, I would say a 50p piece was bigger. Hunters chicken was tasty but not enough barbecue sauce. Starters were excellent as was the service, very friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back.”
