We entered the hotel from the car park entrance to the hotel, which was totally empty and unwelcoming. Instead of being led to the restaurant we were put in the breakfast room. No tablecloths and the cutlery stuck to the tables. So very bad first impressions. Should have left then. The prices weren't cheap. I asked what the fish of the day was and what it came with. Sea Bass with potatoes and vegetables for £16. When it turned up it was one tiny piece of fish, a plateful of boiled potatoes, which apparently were well presented when the waitress collected the plate, her words, half a lemon and garnish of watercress. I queried the vegetables. The waitress spoke to the chef and said there wasn't any. Did I want some? Basically she was going to charge us more! The men had a hearty curry to be fair but the chef forgot to put the naan on the plates, understandable when you saw the size of them....minute!! The other diner had carbonara pasta it was basically just a plate of pasta with not much else.To be fair the lady in charge did her very best to reduce our bill and offered her apologies.

Staying at the hotel I asked what food was served. I was told this was a ‘Scottish cuisine’ restaurant, it isn’t, it’s a typical pub menu (burgers, pasta, curry, fish and chips etc). The food tasted ok but wasn’t fresh, I ended up not finishing it. Dessert was really good.

Stopped in here because to tired to go any further after a long transit day. Located in the lobby of Mercure Inverness, it has a chill atmosphere. The server I had was very friendly and chill. I ordered a steak and a beer for a late dinner. Steak was cooked to order. Sauces are extra but I ordered the peppercorn anyway. Steak was good without the sauce. The sauces added to the flavor but not worth what they were charging for. Beer selection is very limited. Place is more cocktail and wine oriented. While the var is open 24 hours, the kitchen closes ar 11pm.
