Decent rooms and nice location but service is fabulous. Young lady called Cassandra was the superstar of the show at this place during our visit…..difficult to tell exactly what her role is as one minute she was at reception at check in, next showing us around our rooms, bar tendering , waiting on restaurant tables and even cooked us some fries after the cook had finished shift. Fabulous atmosphere!

Met with friends for coffee and cake, which was lovely. Only downside was a few dogs inside that were off lead, and approached us quite a few times, and we're barking at other dogs in the place. One of our group is extremely frightened of dogs, so this was stressful. As a dog owner myself, I'm fine with them - but if I take them into places, they are always on lead.

Can't comment on rooms as only used the restaurant.A beautiful location and setting, and it's my friends safe, comfy and favourite place and she loves the staff who look after her. However, for what we ate and drank for lunch was way over priced. I've never paid £3.10 for a pint of soda and lime cordial before unless in a swanky bar in London, it's usually £1/1.50 is standard. We had Caesar salads and this consisted of some chopped lettuce, 2 thin slices of cucumber, 3 croutons and 1 cherry tomato cut in half and little dressing. We added the chicken for £2.95 each but there wasn't a lot and it was pale and unappealing, £15.45 each for the salad. A portion of skinny fries each was £3.25. They thankfully didn't charge for the hot water and lemon. The total bill was over £40 - very overpriced for food that was underwhelming. I can't fault the staff, they were lovely but I didn't want to say anything in front of my friend. If I can make a suggestion, please review the price or the portions and quality. This could be a really great place to have lunch but next time I think I will stick to drinks only.In comparison this evening my husband and I stopped off on the A1 at a random service area and paid £32 for an exceptionally enjoyable burger with all the trimmings, steak and ale pie, a pot of tea and a pint of orange juice and lemonade (this drink was half the price of the soda and lime too).Noteworthy details: Easy parking and available spaces

Always use the Boathouse for family celebrations. Service was good but feeling a wee bit like it's not recovered from the effects of lockdown.

Had to ask 4 times for a mocha. All of the workers were talking and doing things when they felt like it, Sundaes were ice cream with little bits of brownies in it. Just in general very slow at doing there job. Other than that decent food.

I am really sad to see this place has gone down hill so quickly. I was here 11 months ago and had a lovely time, tonight was such a disappointment. Food came cold and was microwaved and handed back, staff didn't seem to take a pride in their work. We were not alone in handing back our food. Even when pointing out that food was below expected standard, no offer of reduction in bill. Not happy at all.Parking: There was heaps of parking even although there seemed to be a run on in the morning

Went for a meal with family on Christmas Eve evening. Alarm bells started ringing when we arrived and the car park was virtually empty. Hardly any Christmas decorations and only another two tables occupied. Ordered drinks and had to return 3 pints of lager which tasted fruity, I can only assume it was whatever the glasses were washed in. The food was really disappointing, burgers and rolls were solid. The steak was very fatty. The pork came with a sauce which was not on the menu. The fish pie should be renamed the potato pie with a hint of fish if you're lucky. Would not recommend. I should add, the girls serving were nice and done there best.
