Amazing location right on the edge of Kingussie bordering the countryside. Nice clean room, Pleasant staff. Easy to use Keycafe system. Some parts are from 1865!Huge private garden with a few bench seats, and even a picnic table during the New Year. Really nice well kept garden to wander around and relax in. Even saw some wild rabbits in the top corner every now and then which was nice.No main meals while I visited (During New Year 23/24) but did have a free 'grab n go' breakfast consisting of a few different Kelloggs cereal bars and some chocolate/ strawberry croissants etc.. there were also several cereals like cornflakes and rice crispies and fresh milk available too. Also had a microwave and coffee machine if you needed it, although my room already had a kettle, two large mugs and plenty of tea/ coffee/ milks/ sugars in it. You could grab extras of these items from the breakfast room during the day/night if needed. Room also had bedside 'touch' lights and a lovely big long bath, loads of hot water and clean white towels. Fresh clean white linen on the beds and I was also asked if I needed more while I stayed there. The one member of staff I did speak to was polite and helpful.Parking was fine and right outside the hotel entrance. Had CCTV over the carpark and the hotel is in its own private grounds so felt like any vehicles left would be safe and secure. Also had CCTV inside the hotel including the public breakfast and lounge rooms. After booking and arriving I read some horrific reviews on this hotel but this was not my experience at all, everyone else also seemed happy too, not sure if the owners have changed or what but my time here was great. Had a lovely peaceful time and hope to be back later in the year.Would definitely recommend Columba House Hotel in Kingussie Scotland.Rooms: Room was a twin, see above details.Nearby activities: Plenty of walking and outdoor activities nearby, from horse riding to mountain biking, to skiing to quad biking etc etcSafety: Felt safe and secure, unlike some larger hotels.Walkability: Easy to walk around this hotel, although there's no lift in the main hotel there were other outside suite rooms available without any stairs on the ground level.Food & drinks: Room had its own kettle and lots of drinks

Budget friendly and you really can’t complain. The place is ideal for a stop off en route north, always lovely and warm and the water always roasting hot.

Awful place reminded me of a concentration camp. Very dated & badly built no noise reduction, there was a door in my room (locked) that went into the room next door, I could hear their entire conversation & what they were watching on tv. There is no staff on the premises & had hassle getting key to start with & I immediately re-packed the car & left.Rooms: Go elsewhere ... I've paid half the price for a Travelodge or Premier Inn that were clean & comfortable

A real disaster. The staff wasn`t anywhere. Rooms were not cleaned. Breakfast very poor and in the middle of dirty glasses and plates. As for the wifi it was unexistant. A very bad experience. The only good thing is not far avay from the village. We pay a lot of money to stay in this bad hotel. Please, stay away from this place.

Beautiful location surrounded by old Caledonian pine trees. Easy access and efficient check in process. We loved the bedroom - had a lovely 4 poster bed which was very comfortable. A lovely experience and would certainly go again.

Disliked · Worst place I’ve stayed in Scotland! Shower was a disaster. Overwhelming smell of raw sewage coming from the bathroom all night long. Completely disgusting level of cleanliness. JD the guy who sends check in information and the person on the end of the phone for problems! Has a serious lack of customer service and comes across as rude and simply doesn’t care! So if you have a problem during your stay you’re wasting your time calling him. Rear garden looks like it hasn’t been cut for months! Dead pigeon in the garden, I did see a face plant on the window which could’ve caused his death! But pigeons only usually make this mistake with clean windows so I guess this unfortunate soul was blind as the windows are as filthy as the rest of the place. The company that owns this place needs to look seriously at all these issues and my stay was in the height of the summer period when an extra effort would be expected for the prices paid. I’m a hotel manager myself with 20 years experience looking for a job in the Highlands so if the company is reading this then give me a call ??

Lovely and quiet with good views, only draw back is the lack of a fridge in the room

Room was clean and comfortable but a little dated but was expecting this as informed they are currently renovating the property.Although it was contactless arrival and departure, we were kept well informed with emails and a phone is available in reception if you needed to contact them. Was not expecting the continental breakfast they provided as we were aware breakfast was not included so this was a welcome bonus.Rooms: Room was exactly as described. When we visited we were informed that they were undergoing renovations so there are areas that are off limits but the bed was comfortable and view amazing. Decor was very pleasant but bathroom a little dated.Nearby activities: Very close to the Highlands Wildlife Park which is a must see. Their conservation work is amazing and enclosures are extremely well adapted for the animals. We spent an hour watching a baby polar bear play in the water. Well worth a visit.Walkability: Within walking distance of Kingussie Main Street (5-10 mins) and there are a few hotel pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We are at McInnes hotel which 15 min walk away and gad a really nice drink at the Duke of Gordon which is only 10mins walk away

Fantastic cheap rooms which were clean on arrival and well equipped. Lovely sitting area outside with a beautiful garden. Great to take a meal to and enjoy some sun if you are lucky with the weather. Dog friendly room is a bonus.Noteworthy details: Very easy check-in and key drop off. Stay was Great value would definitely return.

Very quiet, didn't see any staff on site but check in and check out was quick and easy due to the key-safe. Lovely garden to sit in with great views.

Lovely location, not the cleanest bathroom, could do with a bit of maintaining. Workmen spitting outside our room, not the hotels fault so not marked down. Mattress was the biggest problem, needs replacing. We didn’t spend much time there as we were out and about all the time so it was perfect for us and our needs and the price reflects that. Worth a stay if your doing the same. Lovely village too.
