Definitely worth driving there. It was busy (for the time of year) and it was exactly lunch time. We had not made a reservation, but we were given a table with our 3-year-old daughter. After ordering, we were asked by the waiter if we would like a vacant table by the window, yes please!! We had a really delicious meal and enjoyed the sun. Service was busy but very friendly. Highly recommended, thank you!

Lovely cafe/restaurant with friendly staff, although pretty expensive. We visited on 9th February with friends, as somewhere to eat before a concert. There was a Valentine's Day menu available and this review refers to that occasion and that menu only.Large range of dishes to choose from, UNLESS you require gluten free food which was unfortunately very poorly represented. On the day I visited, there was one starter on the menu I could have eaten, three main courses (two of which were burgers), and one dessert. I had only one course, and chose the fish, which had to have part of the dish removed to make it suitable for me. I was all the more disappointed because several of the dishes didn't have anything obvious making them unsuitable; for instance, I very rarely find a curry nowadays that I am unable to eat, but on this menu it was unsuitable. It was also a good job I wasn't a vegetarian or vegan coeliac, as there would have been absolutely nothing for me.I'd like to suggest that the chef rethinks the menu to make it work harder to feed all diets. So many of these options could have been available to me with a few changes to the basic ingredients and preparation.Dietary restrictions: Very poor selection

Popped in without a reservation. We said we only wanted a bowl of soup. They offered us a table but said it was needed back for a certain time, for another booking. We took soup and chowder, and it was lovely. The desserts looked delicious, so we took them to go, and we were not disappointed. Lucy made a great job of getting the fudge cake into the takeout box. We will definitely book for our next visit.

While driving across the North Coast we stopped off here randomly to get some breakfast. It was a pleasant surprise. Great location and excellent service. It was quite possibly one of the best breakfasts we have ever had.Being from London, it's quite rare to find restaurants with such a great emphasis on using fresh local ingredients - so the difference this made was quite noticeable. We all got something different and every dish seemed very well thought out with every ingredient working harmoniously together. The portion sizes were just right, leaving us all very satisfied. This experience alone has really put into perspective the importance of sourcing local and fresh. The restaurant is also quite transparent on this, with a blackboard listing where the majority of their ingredients are sourced. On the way out, we took a slice of white chocolate and berry cheesecake and a berry and mango blondie. Again, these were exceptional. The cheesecake was the best I have ever had. I cannot vouch for the other items but they all looked amazing so I do not doubt you will enjoy them.As Muslims we do not consume pork / non halal meat so we requested that our breakfast be prepared with separate utensils away from meat items and this was done for us happily.I doubt you will leave this place disappointed.

Our experience was great! The cafe looks lovely inside and is such a nice place. I thought the food was delicious, however it did take quite a while to arrive. Altogether I would recommend a visit.

Stumbled across this place on our drive south from the north coast of Scotland and we feel very lucky to have done! Great atmosphere, amazing chefs as our food was top notch, friendly people and delicious beers! We had the Venison burger and Chicken Ham hock pie special followed by the chocolate tart. All 10/10. Cannot fault them.
