Lovely food, but service was beyond slow. Table of 3 + 1 toddler, eventually gave up waiting for our missing dessert. 1hr 45 mins in total, for main course & a dessert. None of us even had any alcohol, and didn’t get the chance of another round of drinks. Really disappointed, have had better experiences here

Service was poor on this occasion.15 minutes to take a drinks order.No mention of food that wasn’t available when ordering. I mean a Yorkshire pudding is the staple of a Sunday roast. Without it it isn’t a roast dinner.No mention of this when ordering. If I’d have known I would have ordered something else.

I wanted to give this restaurant a 5 star review so badly but I just can’t, I am sorry… Very lovely atmosphere and people. Loved the fact that they are dog friendly. Food would be amazing if it would not be served stone cold…. After mentioning this to the host and asking the kitchen to warm it up, they offered us a free desert and took our food back. It would be all great except that we got our meat back well done instead of medium rare and barely warm again…. They forgot about us again….:((( Not to mention that after we finished our main a host brought us our sides and appetizer… Well, better late than never. We did not mention anything, finished our rubber well done meat and smiled back. Thanks to the atmosphere we still enjoyed our time but the dinner was totally ruined. We skipped the free desert, paid our bill in full and left. Don’t feel like coming back for breakfast or dinner tomorrow… although the atmosphere was fantastic. Visiting Scotland for 3 days and don’t want risking ruining another dinner again… I appreciate the attempt to fix the screw up, but if you promise to fix things, you do, you don’t just talk about it and not come through. Sorry, 2 stars only.

My husband and I planned to pop in for lunch and a few beers. When we arrived, the restaurant was very quiet and we were seated quickly. It was a bit of a wait to get our orders in, but the waiter was pleasant. My husband ordered the burger, he said it was lovely and enjoyed it. I ordered the pizza, which was ok. We also ordered 2 pints. We planned to have more drinks after the meal but it was very difficult to get the attention of the staff, and they seemed to stay away from the table! Therefore, we just had 1 drink with our meal and left.

We were up from the Worcestershire area for a family gathering. As we had booked into the hotel we Booked a table for dinner for 7 people .The level of service we received was absolutely superb. The dining area is very well layed out and the food was great. But frankly it's the staff that made the experience one we all enjoyed .Many thanks

Great and sumptuous food. Rachel C was kind in explaining any questions, taking order, and serving us the food. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning to visit Edinburgh to visit this restaurant. Absolutely loved it.

Was there for a family birthday party lunch for my 90 years young aunt. Had the calamari starter and fish and chips for my main. Both dishes were outstanding especially the calamari which, like the fish, was really nice and crisp. The portions were very generous. The staff couldn't have been nicer or any more attentive than they were. Thanks to all the staff but most especially Rebecca for orchestrating everything so well!

Stayed at the Melville hotel beside the Melville inn and had food and drinks in the pub.The food was just perfect. Had the pie of the day (beef) with mash and veg and it was fantastic.Had breakfast, mainly poached eggs and beans on toast which was faultless.The staff are very welcoming. On an evening it is busy which is a good sign and the staff tend to your every need.At breakfast I saw a guy about my age (50) every day and he was fantastic. Couldn’t do enough to help and gave me some great advice for getting around the city on the bus.I will definitely be visiting here again next time I am in Edinburgh.Parking: Huge car park.
We needed somewhere to relax and prepare for a ceremony rehearsal the first night and to wind down and lay our heads after the ceremony next day. We were warmly welcomed with no fuss check in, the room was spotless and very quiet throughout our stay. The breakfasts superb and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Quiet, modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was speedy, well cooked and plentiful. Location just outside Edinburgh, but ideal for the large park and ride 5 mins away. Would definitely stay again..

Stayed here for 3 weeks due to work cover. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world and this was an extremely positive stay, gorgeous rooms, clean Staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. If you’re staying here check out the Melville next door, beautiful restaurant with an exceptional outside area. Dealt with Becca on numerous occasions and her and her team are an absolute delight, very professional and generally amazing! Look forward to visiting again soon.
